I don't think this place is even open anymore. I googled restaurants near me while passing through. I chose Golden Skillet because I haven't been to one since I was a kid, so I was excited to see that they still existed. Google maps led me to the place. It said Golden Skillet on the outside sign, but the sign was not on and no one was there inside nor any cars in the parking lot on a Saturday night around 7:45 pm - 8:00 pm, so it wasn't real late or anything. Google showed they were open, but they were not.

This place is soooooo good. They have excellent customer service and food. They were accommodating to my fish allergy as well. This is a take out spot, that does not allow dine in. You walk in, place you order, and then receive it within about 5 minutes. I got the chicken sandwich that was so flavorful and delicious (not the greatest picture below).

We got (3) pieces of fish, (3) wings and fries for 26:00. We waited an HOUR!! Do NOT spend your money here! You want to help our community and the service was horrible!!
This food was HORRIBLE!! I am an new Jerseyan who wanted some down home fish and chicken... bad mistake!! Not only did we wait an hour for (3) wings fries, and (3) pieces of fish.. it was rushed, greasy and not cooked properly! STAY FAR AWAY!!!!!!

This is better than any of the chains.Nice crust on the bird,good sized pieces.I was a bit surprised by their wings.My wife had a side of Mac n cheese,she's a bit of a Mac n cheese snob,She liked it so I'll say it must have been good. We will certainly return.

When I was younger, we LOVED golden skillet... and even in my adult life, I've gone to the one in Sandston... but this one in Petersburg is a BIG NO for me... I went in there to pick up a call in order because I just remember how good it was and I saw this was close to me at the time... and it smelled like urine... as soon as you walked in the door it smacks you in the face. Old grease and urine. The people that work there seemed a little nice from what I could tell but from the smell alone, I could not eat the food and I will never in this life go back there again. It was busy.... And maybe they couldn't smell what I was smelling but this was not it for me. It's sad because it seems like a staple in the community... but no.

The fried chicken is better than the national chains and the price is pretty good too. The place doesn't look like much but it's not a dine-in restaurant, this is place that you get you food and go. Make sure you have time because it's made to order
