21 Best Craft Breweries in Richmond

Väsen Brewing Company Brewery • $$
3331 W Moore St, Richmond

“The first on our mission to complete the Richmond Beer Trail - and it was a goodie! The Triple Berry Sour packed a good punch and my partner loved her Rose Lager. Tables were ginormous - so we shared with someone and still had plenty of room to lay out a board game we brought with us. Honestly, this is a great spot to just hangout + drink - we didn't try the food, but looks like you can order from a little automated kiosk in the back to make it easy! Plenty of indoor seating with an accessible ramp and a few tables on the patio if the weather was better. Appreciated the bartenders recommendations on what to try as a first-timer. Overall great experience and one you must try if doing the trail! (Or just generally perusing the Scott's Addition brewery scene of course :))“

Great food, great drinks, with reasonable prices. We’re always happy to see friendly staff when we stop in for a beer and a pizza. This is a sleeper hit in the Manchester area that deserves all the love!“

“I'm usually not a big fan of kombucha. The taste can have a bite that's often not pleasurable however here at Ninja Kombucha they got it spot on.The customer service I was exceptional with offering that didn't come off as a sale pitch.I really enjoyed these kombuchas and when I returned 3 weeks later purchased more.“

Kindred Spirit Brewing Brewery • $$
12830 W Creek Pkwy Unit J, Richmond

“Kindred is our favorite local brewery. I am a HopHead there and get the bigger pours, and more points. The point system in great for saving money, highly recommend you join. The beers are great. Really enjoy almost all of them. The Goodness is amazing, but remember it is 13%. It hits hard. They have fantastic IPAs. Hard to pic a favorite. Lots of good sours, except the cucumber, sorry guys not a fan. Lighter beer are great. Dark beers are fantastic, the goodness in one of them. They have their own food truck which is actually good food. The menu is limited, so unfortunately get tired of it after a while. Thursday nights is the best for the food truck with 1/2 price burgers. The egg rolls are fantastic too. The service is fantastic! The bartenders are always friendly and knowledgeable. Ross and Ford set the tone for the place which is very welcoming. One final note. Great indoor and outdoor space. Great musical acts. Dogs allowed inside. My two love to go there for all the attention they get. Highly recommended!“

Ardent Craft Ales Brewery • $
3200 W Leigh St, Richmond

“Ardent is my favorite brewery in Virginia. I love Pilsners and lagers and Ardent brews some of the best. I feel like most breweries concentrate on IPAs but Ardent provides a nice mix of all, so all types of beer drinkers should be satisfied. It's a great space to hangout whether you are inside or outside, there's plenty of seating options. All the staff is friendly and attentive, it must be a great working environment as a lot of the staff have been there for many years. There's plenty of food options as well as Ardent has a nice menu of sandwiches, salads and appetizers. Also within the same parking lot you have Eazzy Burger and ZZQ BBQ which are top notch! You can pickup beer to go and they also provide delivery options as well.Visit the Barrel Room around the corner for some of their beers while watching comedy or singing along with karaoke night.Fun, food and great beers. What more can you ask for?“

The Veil Brewing Co. - Scott’s Addition Brewery • $$
1509B Belleville St, Richmond

“Fantastic brewery with outstanding beers and a super friendly and helpful staff. They’ve built a bear cult-like following with their sweet spot being super heavy NE style IPA’sEverything they serve is good, with a supercool vibe and comfortable inside and outdoor spaces.UPDATED REVIEW:I’m a HUGE fan of The Veil and have been here dozens of times over the years.Their beers are absolutely top notch, but they recently relocated and I didn’t much care for the new place. It’s hard to define it. The service is still good and the beers are still great. Perhaps is nostalgia of the change…not really sure. The new place is different - larger, restaurant in premise now - but it feels too big. Might seem like an odd complaint, but I miss the Roseneath location.“

Black Heath Meadery Production Site Brewery • $$
2004 Dabney Rd, Richmond

“Four years had elapsed in a flash before my most recent visit last weekend for the Scott's Addition Collaboration Crawl. My friend mentioned wanting to check them out, and I was happy to go along for the ride. I arrived first and perused their list. I tried two different samples, one of their lavender meads and their Bramble Bee blackberry mead. Both were well done, but Bramble Bee won out for me. Mead is so high in alcohol that 4 ounces is plenty. Expect to pay around $10, which I think is reasonable. Service was perfunctory and there were ample seats. I also loved the daffodils; my favorite flower! Nice touch. I'm sure I'll be back at some point in the next four years.“

Bryant's Cider & Brewery Brewery • $$

“Great cider. I was surprised to see Bryant’s has a location other than the one of Nelson 151. I was thrilled they created some semi-sweet options and beers. The bartender was wonderful. My only suggestion would be improve the signage - we were looking for them and almost missed it.“

The Veil Brewing Co. - Forest Hill Brewery • $$

“Love, love, love The Veil and Y Tu Mama! The food is amazing! First time we got carnitas tacos, chicken tacos, nachos and a quesadilla. Everything was DELICIOUS! Went back yesterday and got veggie tacos and they’re officially our favorite!!! The staff is super chill and very friendly and helpful. It’s such a beautiful space with all the good vibes! You can dress up or dress down and no matter what you leave happy! I haven’t tried a restaurant outside of our usual go to’s in a while because of so many disappointments. Thank goodness we tried this place, we will be back! Thanks The Veil and Y Tu Mama for killin it!!!!“
