I had the most delicious breakfast at this cafe! The BBQ Brisket with eggs was fabulous. Toast was crisp and fresh, didn't even need butter! Well prepared and appetizing presentation with huge portions!! Well worth the price. If you're not super hungry, you'll have enough for another meal!! The coffee was disappointing, but maybe they should get a flavored coffee option? Real quiet atmosphere, almost like a library. Comfortable seating. Nice place to dine!!

Only one cashier to take orders and make drinks. Nice little vibe in the restaurant. Drinks and food took about 20 mins. Food was nothing special but it helped me stay full through the day. I got a cappuccino with brown sugar syrup and my husband got a brown sugar latte and they were pretty similar. Would come back.

The vegan options are awesome! I've ordered via DD (but v options weren't listed on certain items) and called in to clarify about that. The person who answered is super awesome! They made sure they knew what I needed and got the items updated on DD!

The food is always hot...delicious, so flavorful. The chicken and waffle are unique- this isn't fried chicken - it is smoky silky bbq chicken with maple syrup - the legacy farm bowl is this tasty bowl of grits and veggies - and this place knows how to serve meat eaters- veggies and vegans alike - and even better - it's has a community mission. Every bite and every dollar goes back to the community beit's a non - profit. A coffee shop where you can sit and work and make a difference and eat great food??? Yes please. I also love love love the coffee. So my favorite: Cross-andwich with vegan sausage and eggs w/ a coffee. Yum.

Warning for health people. It looks cool and healthy but it’s just frozen and flavorless food. Asked for mayo to add some flavor they have none so I had to put a bunch of black pepper on my eggs. The guy that took our order seems to hate just working overall. Coffee was great but I regretted coming here.

We enjoy the rise. It seem like they were understaffed as it took a while to get our food. The mustard greens were tasteless. But the rest of the food was very good. The ambience was very nice.

Ordered a grilled cheese, lentil soup, breakfast plate and a cookie. Grilled cheese has a thick piece of ham. I don't eat meat and that was not in the description of the sandwich. The lentil soup is excessively salty. Very disappointed. The breakfast plate was bland. Highly disappointed in the food. It used to be a good place to eat.

Such an underrated cafe!! I came at 10am on a Saturday and it wasn't super busy. The inside is a vibe with exposed brick and couches for seating. The garage door was closed but when open allows for an indoor/outdoor experience. And there's plenty of seating outside was well. I ordered the Cafe Miel but lite honey because I don't like latte's too sweet. They made it perfectly. For food I got the ham and cheese grilled cheese - omg it was so good. Maybe it's because I don't eat sandwich too often but it was such buttery cheesy goodness! The sandwich did take a few min longer than I expected but it was worth it. I highly recommend this cafe!!

Rise Cafe is amazing for private events! Hosted a baby shower here, and it exceeded my already high expectations. The manager was a pleasure to work with, helping me customize a menu and budget that worked for our group of 35 guests. The space was an awesome size for this group, and I loved the mixture of indoor / outdoor seating options. Rise allowed us to decorate and plug in our own music - and having an indoor space with AC in the middle of summer was absolutely amazing. We had the option to bring our own food and just rent the space or do catering through Rise - I’m so glad we chose the latter, because our guests really enjoyed the food! Highlights were the really awesome fruit and veggie trays with dips, and the Chicken Caesar wraps, which disappeared before I could grab one! My vegetarian friends appreciated all of the veggie-friendly options. Along with some other drinks, we served ice coffee at the event (but I think you can pay for full barista service if you want) and people loved it. I thought the iced coffee was great, and I also really enjoyed the iced latte (the miel? I think it was called) that I ordered when I arrived. I’ll be going back just to get coffee and snacks again!Best part is the mission - there are tons of good coffee shops in RVA, so what makes this one stand out is the chance to support a meaningful mission. Thanks, Rise! Will be back soon :)

Ordered a bacon egg and cheese croissant for $9 and drove 10 minutes to work to find that my sandwich was missing the bacon, food was super cold, and the potatoes looked shriveled up and old. Croissant is good, and larger than most places though.Vanilla latte was perfect. Food was not good. I’d recommend eating-in rather than to-go.Side note: the coffee sleeves don’t really grip the cups well. They slide off easily which makes me grab for the lid instead to avoid the hot cup. I have popped the lid off a few times already and realized that the sleeve was my issue.
