Just wow. We aren't sure if it is cocaine waitressing or what... but for a party of four people we were brought three waters. Had to ask for silverware, got two forks and two knives. Asked for more and got one more fork. Really odd. Service was really slow getting to us. And for a place with a reference they did not have any Texas beers. The "Caesar" salad was a bit weird with fries and avocado. Bbq was good.

Pretty much addicted to their steak and fries. The green sauce they put over it is so savory. Steak always comes out to your liking. Chicken quarter also very tasty. Just good a bbq spot done right. No gimmicks. Solid bbq stable in the Churchill community!

If I could give this place more stars I would. I dined in right at noon on a Sunday for brunch and ordered the huevo rancheros. Every single bite was impressive and I am eager to come back for more! Upon leaving, I was shocked at how slow it was. With the kind of experience I had, that place just deserves to be slam packed like the place next door. High quality food, beautiful interior, attentive service. 100/10

Had a great time at Frontier last night! My girlfriend and I met for dinner at 630. We were promptly seated and then assisted by the waitress. We both got the poblano margarita. So delicious, not too sweet, not too spicy, tajin rim (yum). For dinner I had the pork bbq sandwich with collards. She had the half rack with fries and coleslaw. The food didnt take too long to arrive, maybe 20 mins, but we were chatting away so felt like no time at all had passed. The bbq was SO GOOD! It wasn't dry, had a nice peppery/smokey flavor, the sauce was a nice touch but didn't carry the sandwich. The bun was soft and the sandwich didn't fall apart while eating it. The collards were good as well, not over or undercooked. My friend wasn't the biggest fan of the ribs but she enjoyed them enough to eat half of them and she (we) enjoyed the fries as well. The place filled up fast as we were dining but even with all of the tables full, it didn't feel crowded or loud. So glad to have finally checked this place out! Will definitely be back with more friends and family!

I wouldn't recommend ordering online. The posted menu has some items that they no longer make.

The restaurant was cool (1st visit), service was great, but the food was SUPER DISAPPOINTING. Alamo was shack with the best BBQ food in Richmond! I went last night and was served a cold meal with cold cornbread. I was in shock, paid and left. I'll never come back after this experience. Super disappointed!!!

I love this place. My favorite are the nachos with brisket. Having Falcon smash on tap is a great bonus too.Dietary restrictions: They have gluten free optionsWheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp at the door, and it is a single level restaurant.

I have missed the original Alamo as a favorite lunch haunt and thought they were gone forever. Somehow I missed the memo that they had moved and rebranded. My daughter set me straight and away we went. So glad we did! The new place (new to me) is a welcome improvement, with seats actually inside instead of on a patio. Very important in February! The food is as good as I remember, maybe better. Certainly the pork is (once again) the best restaurant bbq pork in the area -- smoky, tangy, a little heat a la Texas style. If I wanted better, I'd have to make it myself. The texas caviar was a little bland, nothing salt didn't help. A pop of onion would have gone a long way. The brisket sandwich was very good, carrying lots of flavor with simple seasoning under the sauce. The accompanying fries were good and hot and were paired with a nice aioli. The mushroom quesadilla (special order accommodated, subbing in shrooms for meat) was surprisingly good. I was impressed with the flavor since it isn't a menu feature. The jalapeno mac and cheese carried a little punch to it, maybe more than the delicate cheese should be expected to stand up to, flavor wise. Excellent rediscovery! Four stars, would be five if they weren't "out of iced tea" during a Saturday lunch. (Come on, guys.)

I've had Frontier by Alamo a few times now, and have found them to be very inconsistent with their food. Sometimes, its the best brisket I've eaten on the east coast, but others its just straight gristle. I enjoyed the standalone Alamo location more, I hope that they open it back up soon.

We’ve never had anything there that we didn’t like, everything is delicious! The menu is diverse enough (without being a short novel!) so that everyone in the family finds something they love. We have two kids who are picky eaters, and they LOVE Frontier. Plus the chefs are always coming up with tasty specials: I had the grilled octopus on hominy a few weeks ago and I still dream about it!

GOOD golly gracious, have they absolutely surpassed all my even highest expectations in every single area of ratings and more. The food was PHENOMENAL! I got the portabello tacos, which were even better than I remember from the last time I had it years ago at the other Alamo location, which is currently being renovated. The service was incredibly accommodating and kind(!), and the atmosphere is freakin' awesome. After all, there's a life-sized bear and a cow-ch for taking pictures with/on to document the great time spent here. I can't say enough about how delicious everything was and how well we were treated here. This is TOP-NOTCH all around, and if you haven't been here yet, getcha booty on over there!Vegetarian options: Portobello taco and sandwiches, Mac n cheese, other sides, quesadillas, etc.Dietary restrictions: There's gluten free options too!Kid-friendliness: My kids love it here!Wheelchair accessibility: There's a ramp to get into the restaurant and wide isles

One of my favorite places to go in Church hill. The bartender is the kindest and most knowledgeable person I’ve had the pleasure to chat with. I ordered the pull pork bbq with a side of Mac and cheese and it was by far the best bbq and Mac I’ve had. The Mac and cheese had subtle hints of jalapeño and was amazing. I 10/10 recommend the frontier by Alamo!

Highly recommend this local spot. The food was AMAZING- best soup I’ve had in a very long time (poblano bisque special), and delicious wings and ceaser salad. The owner made us feel at home and all service was wonderful. Fair prices and lots of delicious cocktails. Can’t wait to go
