A pleasant, delightful ambience. Food is appealing to tastebuds, the service was exceptional and needless to say, the music was jazzy and on point. Go get you some!

We ordered the smoked wings as an appetizer, which were good. The entrées that were ordered were not. We ordered the sweetest taboo and some type of grilled chicken dish. Although my shrimp and grits were ok. My significant other grilled chicken was rubbery, and macaroni and cheese was ice cold in the middle. I alerted the server of the issue, and they only placed the mac and cheese in the microwave and brought it back out. I hate to rate y'all a 3 because this is Black Restaurant week, and we picked here to come. We will not be returning. The atmosphere and servers were nice, though, hence the 3 stars.

Visited for Sunday brunch. The atmosphere was very nice, the music wasn’t too loud. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was good as were the drinks. I had the Boney James, which is fried fish, grits and potatoes. My sisters both had the Georgia on My Mind, which was the shrimp and cheesy grits. All in all a good experience.Parking: Free parking on 3rd level of Retreat Hospital across Robinson Street.

We drove an hour to dine in this restaurant and we will never go back.1. We ordered the meatloaf and it was TOUGH. Like at first I thought we were served a brownie with gravy.. like look at that picture. I told my husband to return it but he was too nice and just painstakingly ate some of it. The side dishes- mac and cheese and collard greens- bland, dry and unappetizing.2. Another order was “sweetest taboo”- the salmon was dry hard and overcooked.3. The cocktail “my bucket got a hole in it” is again bland, watery and lacks flavor. We did like rock steady rolls, the ambience and the fact that there is plenty of parking space across the street.Again, not worth our drive.

Went here for my Birthday dinner. This place has a nice vibe to it. Hearing the Jazz music definitely put you in a grown relax feel. My wife and I had the salmon cakes. Pretty good. Will be back soon. You won’t be disappointed.

Ambiance -- 5 (musician was so talented) Service -- 5 (can't remember the young lady's name, but she was sweet and as attentive as she could be with the amount of running from table to table because they were short staffed) Food -- blah, blah, BLAND! No one at my table was pleased with their entrees. I ordered Sweetest Taboo (salmon/shrimp over pasta with a garlic cream sauce). In theory, it sounds delicious. Execution, not so much. Noodles were saturated in sauce, mushy and flavorless. There was a pool of oil from the salmon which had no flavor. The shrimp were seasoned well. Braised short ribs were DRY. Mac and cheese and collard greens, thumbs down.

The appetizers and entree were both cold . I had stood at the entrance waiting to be seated and had to ask someone if I could sit myself after standing for 5 minutes. This was my first time. Visiting this establishment it was also my last . Do not recommend

Shrimp and salmon was completely burned on one side. Not seared but fully burnt and rock hard. Place was empty when I picked up my food. So they had time to have fixed it. Oh well. $28 a plate not worth it here for sure. Find someplace

Went to the restaurant to continue my birthday. I ordered the smothered pork chops with fried potatoes and onions and fried apples. The fried apples were OK. Fried potatoes is not the fried potatoes you got from grandma house, they were precooked and put on a oven sheet and put in the oven to be heated up. You get 1 pork chop where most restaurants would give you 2. The gravy was cold and so was the pork chop. So they brought me another pork chop and that was burnt. Mind you the gravy taste like it's been sitting for a few days. The last time they brought me a pork chop seem like they made some fresh gravy but it was hair on my plate. I was totally frustrated by this time. So the manager said she would take 20% off our tab, I was oh ok. Come to find out she just took the service charge off the tab. I asked the waiter about the service charge and she told me that is split between everyone which I feel that's not right cause you can bust your butt all day and have another employee not doing nothing so anyway they still charged my card with the service charge on it so I have to get the manager again to fix it. It was the worse I experience.

This place was very nice!! We did have to reserve a table ahead of time. They're open for Brunch & Dinner (check web page for times). There is also free public parking on the 3rd level of hospital parking deck which was a plus. The food was wonderful & presentation is everything. Drinks were A1 also. Will return for dinner & possible reserve the spot for a birthday celebration!!Parking: Use the 3rd level of HCA hospital on Floyd Ave for free parking.

Hey there, jazz lovers! I just had an experience at Mike Jazz Cafe on Floyd Street in Richmond, Virginia, and I've got to share it with you. The atmosphere? Stunning. From the moment you step in, you're enveloped in the soulful sounds of jazz, creating a temple of music throughout your visit. Now, let's talk about the food. Honestly, it didn't quite hit the mark for me. It felt like they were cutting corners, which is disappointing, especially considering it was my wife's birthday celebration. And let's not forget about that sneaky 20% service charge that wasn't explained upfront. Transparency is key, folks! Overall, while the food and service could improve, the beautiful ambiance made it a memorable evening for my wife's birthday. Here's hoping they take some feedback on board for an even better experience next time. Keep jazzing it up, #you're welcome

My fiance' and I went here on Valentine's Day. The ambiance is EVERYTHING. It's very cozy and the chairs were so beautiful.Moving on to the food, as an appetizer we got Lazy Bones, their wings tossed in their signature sauce. AMAZING! That's it, that's all. I'd go back just for those honestly. Both of us got The Sweetest Taboo for our entree which was salmon and shrimp over a bed of pasta. The shrimp and salmon were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Seriously, so good! The pasta was cooked well but could've had more flavor. Finally, the drink we had was perfection and gave the perfect buzz. We left feeling great! The only downfall to the establishment was the bathroom being upstairs. For those with disabilities, this is challenging as there are quite a few steps leading up there.

This place was good! We stopped here for happy hour and ended up staying for a full meal plus dessert. The service was attentive and I appreciated the jazz music and overall vibe of this space. It was a chill nice place to stay and eat for a while. Try the margarita flight and the jazzy egg rolls for sure. The sandwiches we got were delicious as well ?

Have to work out the service and order kinks. The place definitely has a vibe! Gonna be a great spot in time when they fix some of the wait staff and bartender shortage issues. The food was OK.
