Ok . I am a New Yorker. It is in my blood - we think we know more about pizza than anyone. An unbearable burden to carry.:) None the less my wife and I made our way to pizza bones . Very nice local neighborhood spot has kind of an outdoor theme however you can down inside but it’s limited. Staff is super friendly. Placed an order for garlic bread and a pizza for my wife and I to share half pepperoni service recently, considering the only two people on shift first let me say that cheesy bread were extremely good garlic, super cheesy crust very tasty. The pizza was excellent love the crust fresh tomatoes, Gucci gooey cheese. I think this pizza is better than Xorge or Cary Street and that’s a hard crowd to beat you go $14 for a midsize prize not a bad price serves to make sure you get the cheesy bread.

Not what we expected, unfortunately!!! The pizza was overcooked and tasted terrible. It wasn't just our pizza, either -- every pizza we saw being served was overcooked. And while we were there, the wait for pizza was 45 minutes to an hour! Perhaps it was a bad night, because the place was packed. It's a mystery, that we will not be going back to solve. They have a tasty salad, and, sadly, that's the only thing I can recommend about Pizza Bones.

I love the vibe of this place. It's a chill atmosphere with wine, pizza, and picnic tables. My fiancé and I ordered a cheese pizza, and a red sparkling wine based on their helpful suggestion. I really enjoyed the wine. My thoughts on the pizza are as follows. The crust was outstanding. The owner of this place apparently worked at the famous Tartine Bakery and that is reflected in the crust. It tastes more like a crusty mild sourdough loaf than a traditional pizza. The wheat flavors from the high extraction or whole wheat they are using in the dough are present but not overpowering. In the realm of pizza this is definitely a slower bake cooked in their Baker's pride gas oven. My guess is about 10 minutes. What you get a very crispy verging on cracker like consistency in the crust. I prefer a little more delicacy and lightness from a faster high temp bake, but it was still delicious. I was slightly less enthralled with sauce and the cheese combination. The cheese is classic Grande low-moisture mozzarella, no complaints there. Based on the cans I saw the sauce is a DOP San Marzano tomato. It was on the acidic side, and that combined with the tangy Grande cheese did not complement each other very well. I would prefer a naturally sweeter tomato sauce. I also would have liked a little more sauce. All that said, it is still great pizza, and I would be a regular here if I didn't make my own pizza.

Extremely greasy pizza. Had to soak up pizza with napkins. I asked for extra sauce because there was no sauce on the pizza and the sauce had a consistency of ketchup. Pizza was small for the price. The crust was good.

I have had better pizza come out of a box. Sorry guys, but I don't get it, I would have expected so much better. Beer and wine were cold.

This place is one of my favorite things about Richmond. Ashley, the owner, has created a beautiful community hub with delicious food and fantastic wines. On any given night, someone I love in this city is enjoying a pizza on the patio at bones. The Thursday evening wine tastings and Saturday morning bagels are not to be missed.

All important milestones since I moved to Church Hill have involved Pizza Bones. The rotating specials are always a treat and the Saturday morning pastries are not to be missed! We are lucky to have them in the hood.

On Saturday mornings they sell bagels that they make, and they are simply the best bagels I’ve had outside of NYC. Period.

Excellent neighborhood joint with from scratch, extremely flavorful pizza. Very friendly and attentive service. This is not a mass-production-carryout-pizza-joint. It is hand crafted with love. If you want take out pizza, grab a seat and a glass of wine and relaaax. (The choc chip cooks are right)

Their pizza is really good. The pepperoni they use is really oily though. My son got olives on his pizza and there was an olive pit on his pizza. It is a little pricey but I think it is worth the price.

A must of RVA. Pizza is great, cool vibes, great with kids (they have chalk so they can run around and play outside while parents eat dinner). It's a classic community spot and the pizza is nuts.
