First visit! Stopped in for a midday coffee. Tried the Cherry Pit and Lavender Chai. Such fun, seasonal flavors. The drinks were great. All the booths were full of folks working away on laptops, so nice to know that's an option. Loved all the plants. The huge front windows flooded the store with sunlight and made great mirrors outside to reflect the blue skies and historic buildings nearby. Charming!

I think this is one of the most underrated spots in Richmond for sandwiches.Don’t believe me? Try a Cali Dream.Still don’t believe me? I know you’re probably full from that Cali Dream but try a Chimbo Club.Oh, you’re vegan? Thats cool and thanks for telling us 10 times. Order a Veg Head.I also need to shout out the staff there because they both rule AND know the two most important things that all coffee shop employees should know which are:1. How to handle a rush like a well oiled machine.2. How to talk to people like human beings. So yeah Rivvybendy (my name for them. Say it in Pauly Shore voice) has a similar vibe as LPH (who also rules and I think owns them) in that it points to whomever is doing the hiring knowing how to find great people. As an old I appreciate that the staff spans a range of ages outside of 20-23 and isn’t comprised solely of cloned VCU students who majored in eye rolling.I will say the name of the place that used to occupy the space, Captain Buzzy’s, was a way tighter name and was more fun to say, but in a town that celebrates every new subversive snake-themed food establishment or cafe that refuses to use vowels Riverbend is a breath of fresh coffee flavored air. No gimmicks. No egos. Just really good food, drink and positive vibes.

I come here a couple times a week in the morning, have hung out doing some work in the afternoons. It’s always an enjoyable experience with fresh coffee and friendly service members, relaxing vibe. I look forward to swinging by in the morning. Highly recommend!

Staff- super friendly, worked well with busy atmosphere Seating- could be better but it was adequate with the smaller space they had Drinks- Stellar, super hot which I love, cute little coffee sleeves, also love the variations and diverse range of items they sellSandwhiches/bagels- delicious, could be heated some more! But I didn't mind because I'm hungry and I gobbled that bitch down Thanks for a great spot for a first time visit!

The coffee is good if not great, but in my experiences visiting, the staff are somewhat cold and indifferent toward some customers compared to others. Probably won’t be back.

I so badly want to give this place five stars. Everyone who works there is lovely and the cold brew is delicious. My qualm is the smell...I'm not sure why but it smells like burnt popcorn inside. And that wouldn't be such a big deal but I also left smelling like burnt popcorn and had to was my clothes/hair to get it out. I hope they figure out how to improve that because otherwise it's such a lovely place.

Cute location, decent coffee, awful premade fake food. It was too cold to wait in line at Sub Rosa so we opted for a quick stop with no line. It seems they cared more about their sexual preference ( I counted 6 rainbow flags) than serving delicious baked goods. Don’t get the egg and cheese sandwich… gross. Their muffins looked ok but nothing compares to the iconic in house handmade goods from Sub Rosa.

I have mixed feelings as it parallels the quality of the chai lattes we got.The hit, apple spice chai latte we got was one of the best ever- temperature ideal for the climate, taste unparalleled globally across my travels. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the Pumpkin Spice Chai latte ?. All I could taste was the bare bones of the pumpkin spice flavor as the temperature was warm giving me what I felt was a sugary drink?. I can’t say how the pumpkin spice latte would taste if the drink was hot like the apple spice chai latte. When I went back in to see if I could make it hot, the baristas were busy talking with customers (the right thing to do) that I could not get their attention for about 3 minutes. I decided to not wait and disrupt a cordial, crowded atmosphere. So, I guess when you visit the place, it’s like flipping a coin. You can either get an excellent world class drink or a warm sugary drink.
