Super casual, friendly staff and the food was amazing. We did a couple sandwiches over a couple days - the turkey with blackberry jam, a reuben, veggie sammie and the grilled cheese with apples. We were all really happy and the place is just so laid back and chill. These guys look like they're having fun while making your food. It all feels good and tastes good, too. Oh and it's a quick walk from the convention center so totally convenient when working in town.

WOW! This was the most amazing biscuit breakfast sandwich I have ever had! Easily could have split it but instead ate it all. YUM!!!

Walked to the restaurant for breakfast, I started getting concerned as I was about 1/4 mile. However the food was delightfully, highly recommend!!!

Great sandwiches. I had La Havana, their version of a classic Cuban. Good flavor, substantial amount of food. Not terribly many options for sides, I would have enjoyed fries as an option; but fruit, chips, and coleslaw were all nice side options. My husband got a fried chicken, bacon, ranch sandwich, which he says was well-crafted, good flavors. He especially liked the coriander coleslaw. The service was speedy, too, despite the busy crowd.

This restaurant deserves all the praise. The food is delicious and consistent. Every single person I have encountered who works here are lovely. They have been very supportive of the healthcare workers in their community since the beginning of the pandemic. They also seem to be very supportive of their community as a whole. The holiday orders save me when hosting family. As for the food... just stop scrolling the reviews and go. You won't be sorry. Breakfast or lunch is delicious. The egg and cheese biscuit is like your favorite fast food meal on steroids. Everything is amazing. Just get go. And if you need a fast spot on your way through Richmond then place a to go order and drive in bliss.

Awesome spot.... the superfoods salad is amazing. Great place for lunch and I hope to try their breakfast as well.

Finally got to try the biscuits and gravy and it was worth coming in three times to get. The gravy is brown not white like most places. It has actual identifiable pieces of ham in it, most gravies just have tiny little sausage particles. And of course they have bi light fluffy biscuits. Best sausage and gravy in Richmond for my money

Come to Salt & Forge for big, hearty breakfast and lunch sandwiches! The nice-looking menu has a variety of breakfast and lunch sandwiches, biscuit dishes, and a few salads. I had a breakfast sandwich that had a particularly nice flavor to the sausage; it also came with half a tasty and lightly-sugared grapefruit, which was a pleasant surprise and went well with the sandwich. This is a nice, bright restaurant with big windows at the front and high ceilings. Sort of a new, industrial look. Not a large place, several eight-person community tables make up most of the seating, along with a few smaller tables along one wall. The staff is friendly and helpful. The menu items are a little on the pricey side, but I enjoyed what I had. One note: They run out of some things as the day goes on, so have a second choice in mind. On the day I came by, gravy was no longer an option by noon.

So what to do when I find myself in a town without a Sweetgreen? Have no fear Salt & Forge is here! The supergreens and chicken salad was right on point. They have a heavy hand with the dressing but you can tell them to put it on the side. Great flavor, super nutritious, and the chicken was hot and fresh. A nice find!

We tried Salt & Forge today for chicken biscuits based on recommendation here and on the RVA drink and dine Facebook page. It did not disappoint. The biscuits were cooked perfectly, just enough crunch on the outside, chicken was juicy and crispy and the pickles and hot honey added just the right amount of salty, sweet and spice. Go try it, so good.

I had an avocado toast from another spot that morning and wasn't satisfied, so I was on the hunt for a good avocado toast. I stumbled upon this spot and decided to try it. I ordered an avocado toast with a fried egg on top. It came with a side of grapefruit and tomato jam. It was delicious! Everything just worked well together, from the mashed avocado to the pickled onions to the smokey tomato jam. It was a little pricey ($9.65) because of the added egg, but I would totally get it again.

Do not pass by this place because of the soulless uninspired cookie cutter industrial/ edison bulb decor that is so common even Panda Express and Qdoba have adopted it. The contents of this book outshine the cover by leaps and bounds.I had the Asheville crispy chicken biscuit that comes with sweet potato purée accompanied by a slice of grapefruit with caramelized sugar. It is immensely satisfying and flavorful. I will be coming here often. Thank you

Wonderful! We've been twice now and HONESTLY I like just the plain old biscuit and jam but my husband loved the biscuits and gravy. Cannot recommend it enough - so good!
