I used to enjoy eating takeout from there, but I haven't been able to for the last three weeks or so. Ordering online is not available. Whenever I call to place an order, it goes right to voicemail. The mailbox is full. I tried contacting them through their "Get in touch" box on their web site. I've left my phone and email. My comments have never been answered. I'm guessing if you want to eat here, you have to show up, wait for a table, and then place your order. If you want to eat on the go, this isn't for you. I've called during the work week, between 11:00am and 11:30am - during their posted open hours.

Loved the space and the food. Old school looking diner tables and chairs. I "bought the farm" which had eggs, hash browns, bacon, and pancakes. It was way too much food for one person and I ate it all anyway . Absolutely delicious. It felt slightly overpriced for breakfast diner food - but its surrounded by breweries in Scotts addition so maybe that's part of it. I've heard great things about the ice cream but I have to go back to try it

After waiting over an hour for breakfast- eggs, bacon, toast, and "hash browns" (they were fries with sprinkled cheese on top), it all came out cold to the touch. Not even room temperature, cold. Trying to eat a cold over easy egg is instant nausea, feeling cold slime drip into your mouth is something you should never experience. Would've been fine if someone would have come over to check but no. We sat there for another 20 minutes with full plates of cold food. It's one thing if one of us didn't like it but it was literally everything, even the toast was bad. When the waitress finally came back over she didn't even ask how things were or why we still had entire full plates of food, just dropped the check and ran. Seemed like they were struggling on all fronts so we didn't want cause a disturbance, we paid and got out of there fast. Not sure where all the praise was coming from because the table besides us also waited that long and also had cold food. We are extremely disappointed to say the least, was looking forward to a classic diner breakfast but it was so far from that. Still nauseous, still hungry.

My husband used to work right near the Dairy Bar and we would take our young girls there for lunch a couple of times a summer. We moved out of state and while back in Richmond this past weekend, our daughters chose to visit the Dairy Bar for lunch. We were very disappointed to not see the owners as they were always there when we visited before, but then we found out they sold the restaurant about a year ago. They always made our girls feel welcomed and made what seemed like a big deal about our girls visiting. We have fond memories of coloring the picture of the cow and getting to tape it anywhere on the wall. They also loved the scoop of ice cream that came in the silver serving bowl. The inside of the restaurant looks the same and the smell of bacon cooking is still powerful. We saw the cow pictures on the wall but weren't offered crayons or a picture as our girls are older now, eventhough as teens they did enjoy it in the past; not something the new people would know though. We loved visiting our old special place and am glad the new owners haven't done an overhaul as when it's good, it's good. We are thankful for the memories we made there and were glad we got to visit again.

Michelle was very accomodating to us! We drove from Suffolk and once we got hungry, we found The Dairy Bar. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming, plus the food was great too. They brought my dog, Luna, water, an egg and a treat. When we come back to the area we will definitely stop by again. Thank you all! ?

Appallingly bad. I walked here for breakfast with my partner and was surprised that it was empty shortly after 9:00 am. Despite being the only ones there, our food was served warm-ish. I ordered the chicken tenders with fries and realized that I was shorted a tender after looking back at the menu that explicitly states the serving should have been 4. Our server was nice but disappeared after dropping the plates and only returned to ask if I wanted a box. Maybe this is the type of place that you only get dessert at...

I can’t put my finger on this place. I want to love it- it’s classic, the servers are all really kind, and it’s affordable for what it is. Yet every time I go, I leave not really understanding why I wanted it in the first place. Maybe this is the essence of the Dairy Bar- “You Don’t Want It, But You Eat It Anyways!” I’ll probably be back, because I am a glutton for punishment.

I recommend you all go there. It’s delicious and very pretty inside

Cute diner in the middle of Scotts Addition near several breweries. Solid menu options and prices. Was disappointed in the amount of fruit in the cobbler of the day.

A venerable Richmond diner that is finding new life with the influx of residents to Scott's Addition. Traditional djner fare with the added bonus of milk shakes with adult flavoring if you get me meaning. Stop in and enjoy. If you are feeling arty ask to color a picture of Elsie and be famous on their wall. We all need our 15 minutes.

I've come here twice for breakfast and have left with the same impression. The food is decent. The home fries seem like they are never cooked 100%. The breakfast is something I could have made at home. Would love to see them partner with a local coffee place for their beans.I've never done lunch here but it seems like it's the move? People rave about the shakes but I'm not getting those at breakfast. People that complain about the staff need to realize the state of the service industry. Everyone there worked hard and is extremely friendly.

The Dairy Bar is a great establishment and one i used to work at when Bill & Trish owned it!! The food was great today but I’m leaving disappointed with the service. We all know things are crazy at restaurants but our food order was completely forgotten about (which isn’t a big deal if an apology was made!!). I had to, after 35 minutes of waiting for food for a 3-top, ask the woman upfront if she could check on our food..she said yes and our food came out 10ish minutes later. meanwhile all tables around us had their food and no one had come to check on us. When i went up to pay i mentioned to the same woman up front that it’s not a big deal that our food was forgotten it would have just been nice though if someone let us know what was going on. All she did was reply “right… yeah right..okay” and proceeded to offer no apology or even a discount on our meal. Just really disappointed in a place i used to love and recommend ! it will be a while until i try it again.

Food was good, but waiter was spread thin on multiple different tables which caused extreme delays in getting our silverware, food and drinks. Side note for bigger people, bench seats are extremely uncomfortable and i would sit outside if possible.

Just passing through the area and needed a place to eat before we hit the road. The servers are nice. The food was okay. I got the western omelet and they place a slice of cheese on top which is bizarre. My husband got the French toast and they had a cinnamon bun flavor which was amazing. My kids got the pancakes and devoured them.
