My significant other and I came here for a late Valentines celebration and had the most amazing time. The food was incredible and the staff, specifically Marissa and Zach, was top notch. We will be back very soon and we highly recommend The Stables to others.

We had a wonderful experience at the stables of Belmont. Everything was excellent. Two of us got the duck, and the other two got the scallops and rockfish. Everything we spot on, and the service was exceptional.

I can't say enough about the food, service, and atmosphere of the Sables Restaurant. We loved everything about this place, and the food was on point. We had a great time celebrating my wife's birthday.

Enjoyed a spectacular and delicious dinner with my wife as we celebrated an early birthday meal. Our hostess, Cathryn was fantastic and made the night very special when she brought out a dessert with a single candle for me. The Stables at Belmont is one to put on your list to experience.

My partner and I came here to celebrate my birthday in November, and we loved it so much that we just came back to celebrate hers! The ambience is warm and inviting, and it’s probably a great spot for a first or second date, since it’s a small place and doesn’t get too loud. It’s decorated very nicely with interesting prints on the wall, and you can tell that it used to be an actual stable! We loved that their drink menu doesn’t exclusively have alcohol and that they have a mocktail section on the menu - the antheia is delicious and we’ve gotten it both times (the cardamom flavor is lovely). The short rib appetizer is life changing and fork cut-able, no need for a knife.Yesterday, their kitchen was running slightly behind, so our server brought us something on the house to tide us over - an appetizer we had previously asked her about but didn’t order (because, short ribs). It was the roasted sweet potato salad and it was delicious. I thought that was really thoughtful! The entrees (mid Atlantic catch with risotto + the pork chops with red cabbage) were tasty and filling. Previously, we got the acorn stuffed squash with sausage + the duck, which were also incredible. I don’t think it’s possible to go wrong here! One of my favorite RVA restaurants for sure.

Food was great. Duck breath was absolutely delicious. My husband had flounder, it was great too. Service was good. But tables are tiny, squeezed tightly. Cheap furniture. Pictures on walls are very eclectic. All that does not match with "upscale" restaurant status.

Truly one of the best spots in Richmond! Flounder with butternut squash risotto, lamb lollipops, and pumpkin pie creme brulee..just to name few dishes! The dim lighting is cozy; we loved the decor and the service. Can't wait to try each season's menu!

My husband and I took our son to The Stables for his birthday with great anticipation given all the stellar reviews. Our experience was a very mixed bag. First, the ambiance. The restaurant is cozy and inviting - perfect for a cold autumn evening. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly at our reservation time. Service is slow. We were at our table 45 minutes before any food arrived. We had lovely cocktails and lots to talk about, so we didn't mind, but if you are considering dining here, plan to have a slow, relaxed evening. The specialty cocktail menu had several interesting choices. We tried the grape expectations (whiskey, cardamom) and sage advice (sage infused gin). Both were excellent. The grape expectations was warming and slightly sweet, with just a hint of cardamom. The sage advice was tart and bracing with a lovely twist of lemon rind. Our appetizers and salads were wonderful. The simple salad is plentiful, studded with Roquefort and walnuts. The potatoes in the sweet potato salad were perfectly cooked, and the tart dressing, nuts, and ricotta made for a wonderful bite. The short ribs were the star. Tender but with a good crust, a lovely sauce that let the flavor of the meat shine, and mascarpone polenta and onions to die for. So good! We also ordered rolls and butter to be brought with the salads, but they didn't arrive, and we had to ask for them with our entrees. The entrees were where the evening fell flat. My son and I ordered the brown butter scallops. The scallops were tender and perfectly seared, but the accompanying cauliflower and turnip purée had an odd, too-sour taste. My son was hungry so he ate most of his cauliflower despite being underwhelmed; I left most of mine on the plate. My husband ordered the rib eye with broccoli rabe and bread pudding. The rib-eye was perfectly cooked, but was served at room temperature. The savory bread pudding was delicious, but was hard to find buried under the sliced steak and broccoli. The broccoli rabe was crisp tender and plentiful, but otherwise unremarkable. The presentation was very messy and looked like the food was thrown on the plate. Our server recommended a moderately priced bottle of Nebbiolo wine and it was lovely. Light enough to go with scallops, but with ample heft for the steak. We did not try dessert. I was surprised that the server did not ask us how we liked out meals, especially with so much food left on my plate when she cleared the table. Overall, the appetizers were so good that we may return to try other dishes, but we are not in a hurry.

Emily went over the top for us. It was our anniversary, and we were greeted better than we have ever been. They truly made our special day incredible. We would have loved the attention to detail even without the incredible scallops and fish. Truly fresh and tasty with incredible perfect pairings. One of the best places in Richmond!

Let me start off by saying GET THE SOUP! It was heavenly! Followed by the Ribeye, the epitome of seasoned to perfection! The flavors of this meal made me do a happy dance in my seat. The wait staff were phenomenal, down to earth and attentive. They were spot on with the food and beverage suggestions. This is such a hidden gem of Richmond. I can’t wait to go back.
