Good brews, trivia 7pm Wednesdays, classic pinballs, and Airbnb rooms up and down the halls. Great place for making a stop in Roanoke!

This is definitely one of the best, if not THE best, brewery in Roanoke.Plenty of variety in a cozy atmosphere situated quite centrally to everything as well.I recommend starting your pub crawl here and migrate elsewhere after, either downtown or Grandin Village. Now, if you're still reading, let's get into the details of the beers.I started with their newly released Mtn View, named after the historic neighborhood where AFOG is located. This is a pre-prohibition style lager that was resurrected from an old recipe from the same era, with a corn grain base. It is ?.I also had the farmhouse saison, bc I'm a sucker for a good farmhouse ale and this one is top notch! You can taste the wild!Even the expectedly heavy, 8.5% Collusive Resistance comes across easy drinking and full of a variety of flavors. If you haven't been, go. If you're a regular, you know where the best beer in Roanoke is already.

I found this place through my brother-in-law a few weeks ago. My wife and I stopped back in a few nights ago to see/taste what was brewing at AFOG. The pour list had changed up a bit and still had a few taps I remembered from our first visit. Most notable was the Black IPA which was set to be served early this week. Kyle, who was taking care of us, offered a sample - very different and enjoyable IPA. The atmosphere is very family-friendly so if you're looking for a place to taste some great brews and recipes and want to bring the kiddos along with you, this is the place. They have ample parking, board games, and a few wall-mounted screens offering sports, and some background music you can hear, and ignore if you need. They have an outdoor garden with many tables I can see filling up when the weather turns a bit warmer soon. I'm heading back this week to take in the Black IPA, and maybe something else new that might be ready and waiting to taste.

This is a great brewery! I was staying on the property at an Airbnb and found one night when they were actually open for more than a few minutes and went there and had a beer before I had to jet off to meet a friend for dinner. They're not open very often or very long, but if you can sneak in while somebody is there, the beer is outstanding. There's not really much food available to speak of. The night I was there they were having trivia and everyone was having fun. I'd highly recommend this place.

A wonderful, fun environment! Great people! Friendly staff. Incredible beer from IPA’s to Stouts to Porters to barrel aged specialties. Something for everyone: Light, dark, sour, seltzer, barley wine. Great outdoor space. Dog friendly, too.

Used to be a good bar. Has turned into a gay bar. Won’t go back.

A cool pub like feel with friendly staff and tasty beer. One of my favorite breweries in Roanoke.

The unorthodox name caught my eye, the Ghostly Saison is excellent and the barrel aged Big Red Riding Wood is exceptional! Go Old Goats!

Hands down my favorite brewery in Virginia. Kenny and Curtis have their recipes dialed. It's amazing what variety this 2 barrel brewery can turn out. Get the imperial red while it lasts!!

Full Disclosure: I own a small brewery myself and I absolutely love beer.My daughter had a baby recently and while planning my first visit to VA to see them, I noted that there was an AirBNB with a brewery attached under the same roof. I thought "Perfect" and really perfect was an understatement. This place was wonderful. These Old Goats brew great beer, their place is cool, they are really nice people and they brew great beer. I was at their bar smiling and drinking every night that I was in Roanoke and I took beer home with me to NW Indiana too.I'm really looking forward to coming back.Cheers!

The brewery is awesome. They offer beer in different flavors and the ones we tasted were great! They also fill it up in cans if you want to take it with you. They do not offer any food but you are allowed to bring your own food and eat it in their brewery. This reminded me of how a traditional beer garden in Germany handles it, too.
