We decided to stop in Roanoke in the middle of a long road trip. Alexander’s ended up being a top highlight of our entire trip! From the service to the food, everything was top notch. The ambiance is sophisticated and relaxing with staff working as a team to make sure you enjoy every aspect of your visit. Every bite we took was delicious and you could tell was prepared with a high level of skill and passion. If you are in Roanoke, dinner at Alexander’s is a must!

This is consistently the best restaurant in Roanoke/Salem in my opinion. Every meal I have had here has been outstanding!! Always a delight to have dinner at this exceptional restaurant!

We went here for our anniversary. While the atmosphere is very nice and service is professional the portions are so small. They call a lamb chop a T bone lamb steak, a bit deceptive .We left hungry. The prices are high for what you get on your plate. Go across the street to Frankie Rowlands, you will leave with a full belly and pay less. Not going back.

My wife and I have been here a few times over the years for special occasions and have never had a subpar experience. Professional without being pretentious and efficient service without being familiar (that’s a good thing). Bjorn gets the nod here. The food is inventive and good. Portions are perfect for a restaurant like this though small for my appetite but that’s a “me thing”. Thank you for providing a wonderful night out for my wife and I. Side note; I love the proprietor’s responses to the reviews that are clearly slanted.

We went there for our anniversary. The atmosphere is very nice. The food was tasty but so over priced. I do not mind spending money at a high end restaurant like this, but I expect to get satisfied. The portions were so small that we left hungry. Our waiter Bjorn was a stuffy pompous individual who acted as though being a waiter in an expensive restaurant made him important and an elite. This is the first time in my life that I had such an experience at a restaurant with such a good reputation. Will not be going back. Loosen up Bjorn you are just a waiter.

Best restaurant in Roanoke! A nice variety of food offerings and it's all out-of-this-world delicious. I have tried the shrimp with cream truffle sauce, Etouffee, and fillet of beef with Gorgonzola butter and they are all served to perfection. The chocolate glaze and lemon tart are my favorites desserts. All the staff are extremely kind and attentive. We are lucky to have such a fine restaurant in Roanoke.

Very overpriced for what you get. Our dinner came with stale bread and butter, and a house salad that was nothing special. Main courses were tasty but the portions of food on both our plates were surprisingly small. I got the scallops and was served 6 small peices that could have been from any seafood shack. The menu highlighted nori and was excited to see how it would have been incorporated into this dish and was dissapointed by the 2 slivers of nori thrown on top of the scallops as an after thought. I didnt taste it at all. Service was a bit over the top trying to give off fine dining experience but it really wasn't great at all where it counted. My waitress wanted to take my plate away before I was done with it twice. I felt rushed because we were having an engaging conversation and apparently not eating fast enough! I left hungry, underwhelmed and overcharged :( If this meal cost half the price it did, I wouldn't be writing this review but it's very annoying when you don't get what you pay for!!!So many other local places just a block away downtown, do yourself a favor and skip Alexander's.

The service, food and drinks were all excellent! Very nice selection of appetizers, main course options, wine and drink options. Advance reservations are the norm. It is difficult to get same day reservations as the restaurant is usually booked ahead of time.

Date night was spectacular at Alexander's! Every aspect of our evening was wonderful. The cocktails, appetizers, entrees, and desserts were beautifully presented and delicious. Bjorn and his team were welcoming throughout the evening. We were also able to visit with Bonnie for a few moments. Bravo, Alexander's...

We ate at Alexander's during Restaurant Week. The food was excellent but the portions were small. It was crowded and thus missing some of the ambience that you normally find gor fine dining here.

Very disappointed! We have been in the past for special occasions & loved it but this time maybe because it was Restaurant week & we got the special, well nothing was special.! The Va crab soup had no flavor, it was thin & watery. The reconstructed beef Wellington was ok but they need to figure our the pastry puff as it was hard in the top & soggy on the bottom & i kid you not we got ONE tablespoon of mashed potatoes & ONE sliver of a carrot & ONE green bean. The only thing good was the desert. Our waiter who was getting 22% tip from the get go, acted like he could have cared less if we were there. So no we will not be going back nor will we recommend to anyone else & we will share our experience with others. $206.00 may not be much in there eyes for a meal & i don't mind paying good money for a delicious meal & service but they missed the boat on this one.

Outstanding meal, beyond outstanding service as always. The only restaurant in Roanoke where the noise level is kept to a minimum through well-spaced tables and baffles hanging from the tall ceilings. A thoroughly pleasant experience.

Upon entry the ambience embraces you with peace and tranquility. The staff is professional and looks to fulfill your every need. The food from appetizers through dessert was delicious. I highly recommend Alexanders to anyone who enjoys an exquisite meal and the attention of an attentive and professional staff.

Alexander's is the epitome of an excellent restaurant. Absolutely every detail is executed flawlessly, every time. This visit was no different. We have been to many restaurants, both nationwide and worldwide, and Alexander's continues to top our list of best restaurants.

Except for a very noisy table of guests near us, the evening at Alexander's was fantastic. The service was superb, the food delicious, and the atmosphere very pleasant. This is definitely a fine restaurant that can compare favorably with any top restaurant in the USA.
