“Really enjoyed the beer, the staff and the location. We did a walking beer tour - Pen Druid, Veditz and Hopkins Ordinary. There is a nice walking path that connects all three. About a 3 mile loop. Highly recommended!”
“Jimm is a very welcoming host and the vineyard itself is peaceful and scenic. The carriage house is a great place to stay and the wine was incredible as well. We will certainly be back for another stay in the future!”

“Great little space serving fantastic custom cocktails and good food in a cozy environment. It’s a tight space — 4 2-tops and a small bar, but it delivers in a big way! Bartender was fabulous, drinks great — got a mojito and one of the better ones I’ve had. Definitely recommend stopping in!”

“The cutest place with great coffee and breakfast. It's full of locals but the kind who want to talk to those from out of town. The place is small but it's efficient. I had the ham and Gruyère cheese quiche and it was awesome. My friends had breakfast sandwiches. I loved my oat milk honey cinnamon latte!”
“Three Blacksmiths is not just a restaurant with great food, it is a culinary journey! To start, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We felt at home the second we arrived. A staff member even noticed we were taking a selfie and came out to take a group photo for us. The four of us (all long time friends) made our first decision quickly, wine pairing or zero proof pairings. One chose the zero proof (DD) and she was not disappointed in the least. Gabriel's creative concoctions perfectly matched the menu for our sitting. Then, our food adventure began and I can say, each course was beautiful and delicious and included flavors and tastes I had never experienced before. I am an experienced home cook, but there were plenty of ingredients that I had never seen or used before. I particularly loved the white asparagus veloute and the spring ricotta gnudi which was basically an amazing ravioli without the pasta coat. The wine pairings were perfect and made even more special because Chef Jake Addeo and his wife, Sara, talked us through each pairing. In fact, the whole staff interacted with us the entire meal and made the experience educational as well as a culinary prize. The portions were perfect for us since we had a least 7 courses. I cannot forget to mention the bread, one of which was the best focaccia I have ever eaten! This is a very special restaurant and staff in a very little town. A true gem that I cannot recommend enough!”

“As usual, HappyCow will not allow 5-star reviews for places that are not completely vegan/vegetarian, but this is a 5-star review... Do yourself a favor and come visit Sumac! Chef Dan and his crew go to extraordinary lengths to create magic. The menu always has vegan/vegetarian options, and the location/view cannot be beaten!”
“Very friendly gentleman who gave us samples of the ciders to see which one we wanted. They were all amazing. The building is from the 1800's and very beautiful. Bathrooms are remodeled and nice.”

“Restaurant has a good amount of parking. The host at the restaurant was busy and seemed annoyed we wanted to check out the seating area before asking for a table, but luckily the bartenders were nice & friendly, 2 seats were available at the end of the bar Francis. We ordered the hog in the hive, it was pretty good.”

“We ended up at the Black Twig by happenstance. We were expecting a lowbrow burger and wings joint when we saw the ketchup and mustard bottles on the outside tables. We were happily wrong. The first thing we experienced was the very personable bartender who sat us at our booth. Our server, John Ingram, was stellar. He knew the menu well and gave excellent recommendations to us all. Two of my friends ordered the Grapefruit Blitz cocktail and loved it. For appetizers, we ordered asparagus and artichokes, crispy brussel sprouts, bread with pimento cheese, and tartine; all were very good. The pimento cheese is worth the extra cheedar. See what I did there?I had the Spring gnocchi and the Rockfish entrees (Don’t judge me). Another guest had the Rockfish (that's how I knew I wanted it), another guest had the chicken and risotto, and finally, we ordered the chicken kale Caesar. Our only complaint was the chicken breast was the tiniest bit tough. If you find yourself driving through, this place is worth the stop.”

“Is a great little side of the road Burger joint. At the foothills of the Blue ridge. It's very nice to grab a pizza or a burger and just sit out there by the river and relax while you eat.”
“Great beer and great views. Chill vibe. The brewer was super kind and chatted me up about his methods of carbonation and his yeast which was neat to learn about. The other staff member was friendly as well.”

“This was the perfect winery after our hike in Shenandoah national park. I don’t usually enjoy all of the wines from tastings I get at other wineries but every wine I tasted here was great!!! The views were also exceptional and Crystal, the wine pourer was THE BEST. We really enjoyed our time and will definitely be coming back!!”

“A better than average burger and full bar restaurant. I got a design my own lamb burger with broccoli. Nice that I could get some kind of vegetable instead of fries. Very decent food. I'd stop there again.”

“My mom and step dad stayed in the stoneyman suite a few weeks ago and really enjoyed the beautiful view. They called and told me it was so peaceful and relaxing. We’re hoping to get the whole family together for a vacation soon! I’m a big breakfast fan and my mom kept raving about the breakfast and how great Carl and Donna were. They said 5 stars for sure!”

“Employees were very friendly and went the extra mile. Pricing is still excessive for a cup of coffee and milk but that’s our fault not theirs. We allowed them to charge us dumb prices for it by supporting them with our business.”

“Had an excellent Spring Break stay at Hopkins Ordinary where we were greeted by excellent hosts; stayed in a beautiful room with a fireplace and clawfoot bathtub; given delicious breakfast each morning; received spectacular recommendations for picturesque hikes and views in the area; and even more! I couldn't recommend this place enough. Thank you so much, Caryn and Robert!”
