It’s been years since I have eaten here. I bought empanadas and saltenas for me and my family. All of us got food poisoning. The cheese empanadas had mold. The chicken empanadas we’re super salty and dry. The meat empanadas tasted like death. And they smell like rancid crayons. I think they are recycling their frying oil and not keeping their food at a safe temperature or keeping that food for too long. The one good thing I can say is that the ladies who were working there were nice and answered my questions. But other than that the restaurant needs to make sure their oil and food is handled safely. I cannot recommend this place anymore. After getting this sick and getting my parents and grandmother sick I feel like I have a responsibility to make this review so hopefully they make sure it doesn’t happen again.

First time trying “salteñas “ and last time. on top of that I wouldn’t pay $6 for a salteña that didn’t taste good at all

I've been to El Rancho twice now and it's safe to say that it's in my top 2 Peruvian chicken joints. I stopped by during a cold and gloomy afternoon and this was the perfect meal to warm me up. I ordered two 1/2 chickens with plantains and yuca. These orders came with one yellow, green, and orange sauce each, so I got double of each sauce since I had two orders. The yellow and green sauces tasted like every other restaurant which is great because I love them! The orange sauce was something new for me. It was a tiny bit spicy but great with the chicken. The chicken itself was super moist and piping hot and the sides were super filling. The first time that I got the yuca, it was pretty dry. However, this time around it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I'm glad I gave it another try! The plantains were great as always. I usually like mine a little crispy on the edges but the ones they gave me weren't too browned. I just ended up stealing some from my friend who ended up getting 2 sides of perfect plantains. I'm usually okay with a 1/4 dark but the meat was so tender and juicy that I ended up finishing a 1/2 all by myself! The food was definitely was a 5/5! It was a little difficult to order because of the language barrier, but we ended up working out what I was trying to order. This didn't contribute to my 4 star review -- just wanted to include this to give a heads up to any future customers! The main reason why I changed my rating to a 4 is because of the wait time. After ordering, it took almost 30 minutes for me to get my order. Usually when I get peruvian chicken I get my order really soon after I order so I was surprised that with no line it took so long. This could be because they were waiting on items to cook, but 30 minutes is a while to wait for a to-go order. I'll definitely hit up El Rancho the next time I'm in Springfield!

The restaurant staff very friendly, but only speaks Spanish so come prepared. The quality of food wasn’t equal to the price. Carne Asada not seasoned well & was rather fatty. The Carne quesadillas were tasty but had a lot of diced onions.

Big fan of the food. In particular the quesadillas. Only 2 reasons I'm giving it less than 5 stars is they don't speak English so if you don't speak Spanish and want to place and order you're out of luck. And it was a bit gross/unsanitary to see a woman eating near the food prep station with her barehands.

Worst ever. I come from very far away I called and asked what time they open. After the girl said 930 they watched me stand at the door and couldn’t seven open. I called after 930 and they just stared and ignore the phone. If they dont want to work they shouldn’t be open. They clearly state they open at 6am. It is 10:00 and I took service somewhere else. Worst picking their nose while working. ASCO ? You can’t expect good service from this place nor any of the other places.

Good feud, good service, unfortunately not much of a gluten-free selection

As far breakfast food goes, this place is worth the money. The chorizo was excellent with lots of flavor and the plantains were nice and sweet.

This restaurant is a disaster, they charge you first, like at Mcdonalds, the tables are so filthy, the food was not good at all, I would not recommend this restaurant. I am in awe of how it is still open if the food is terrible, the table is so sticky your hand sticks. For sure they should close that place, I will never come here, or tell a friend to come, so disappointed,La comida es tan mala que ya pueden Cerrar ese changarro, ni en las called de México encuentras un restaurant tan sucio como este,

Great food, huge menu. When you walk in, you have to walk a little further past the counter to the other side to see the menu (you won't see it when you first walk in). We ordered the lomo saltado and 1/4 chicken with white rice and fries. Each dish came with three different sauces and they bring the food to you at your table. Food was great and super flavorful. Only thing was we ordered white meat for our chicken and it was extremely dry. We also only had thin plastic utensils which would break very easily if we weren't careful cutting it up.

I highly recommend the food and atmosphere at El Rancho. It is conveniently located off Backlick Road in a strip mall with adequate parking. The food is very affordable and the chicken is amazing!! It is always moist and cooked nicely. I recommend getting your food for carry out rather than delivery so you can make sure you have all the sauces you want, see the sides yourself, etc. My favorite is the yellow sauce but green is good too. When you come in there is a menu with pictures as well as display cases. You can order in English or Spanish or using your Spanglish.

Very bad service and chicken was still raw

Grew up eating here since i was a kid, hell i even tried to work here. Sadly the food isnt the same, my mouth dried up as soon as i bit into a piece of the chicken because of how dry and salty it was, dont get me started on the flavorless rice and beans which gave me a upset stomach. Tres leches i had once was either expired or undercooked, it was solid and looked like dough thats been left out, plus tasted bad. Its just sad how downhill they have gone. If u want dry chicken this is the place. Only good things i enjoy here r the fries and that orange sauce they have, but there r definitely better places nearby.
