I've been in Charlottesville for 3 years and to be frank this is the best Mexican food I've had here. It's reasonably priced, family-owned, and delicious. I had the carne asada and my friend had the chicken fajitas, both were fantastic. The location is a bit hidden inside of a larger building downtown, but it's without a doubt worth the visit.

Excellent fresh food and super friendly service located right off the Downtown Mall. The lady working here is so kind and always remembers my order. Sometimes there is a younger boy helping, and it only adds to the charm of this family-run business!! I love the breakfast burrito #2, but you cannot go wrong with anything on their menu. I've tried their tacos, bowls, burritos, and it's all tasty and fresh. Pay this local Mexican joint a visit - you won't be disappointed!!! So much better than anything you'd get at Guads or any other chain Mexican places.

Absolutely delicious! The staff was very warm hearted, welcoming and attentive. I had the chorizo breakfast burrito, which was exactly how I like them; flavorful chorizo, soft eggs, potatoes just right, and a light fried crisp on the tortilla. The habanero salsa was just the right level of spice for me as well (I like it on the hotter side fyi) Don't miss the opportunity to give them a try. You will not regret it!

Sombrero’s was wonderful! Bernardo came in on a day they are normally closed to make a Nacho Bar for a friend’s bachelorette party! All the ladies raved about how good everything was! The staff were so accommodating and I highly recommend for catering!

Food was great!! I had the nachos with grilled chicken and the chicken was so seasoned and tender! Great portions and value. Definitely a place to try again since there were so many options!

Sombrero's Mexican Cuisine & Cafe has been a favorite spot of ours for quite a while, and so finally doing a review on them seems far overdue. Tucked away in York Place on the Downtown Mall, Sombrero’s is an ideal date spot, business lunch location, and just when you’re hungry in general!Owned by Bernardo Martinez and Lucrecia Morales, Sombrero’s is a family business, with authentic cuisine made with fresh ingredients, and coincidentally were the first ever guests on Today y Mañana.Beverages:In this photo you can see the horchata, a traditional drink in Hispanic culture that has origins in Spain.Originally made with the tigernut (chufa), in #Mexico and South America it’s common to make it with almond and rice, sweetened, and topped with #cinnamon. It’s a dessert in a glass that accompanies the food fabulously.Food:It's hard to know where to start with the food. Between their #huarachas, #empanadas, #tacos, what isn’t delicious? Mexico's #cuisine is one of the most unique culinary traditions in the world and to have Bernardo and Lucrecia in #Cville is a unique way to experience that tradition. While there are so many varying choices to make inside the restaurant, I often find myself asking this lovely couple what the traditions are in their country so I can taste the food with its proper toppings. Naturally, this led me to order the tacos al pastor, a favorite of mine and a dish that is probably familiar. You’ll find that pictured above, along with the empanadas, which are stuffed with chicken and beef, and deep fried fresh.Every bite simply bursting with flavor at Sombrero’s, and with today’s cost-conscious public, it’s the perfect place to put down a dollar. Food with a flavor profile like this should cost more, something I’ve told that to Bernardo myself, who laughed at me and explained that Sombrero’s is a labor of love and the most important thing is that customers enjoy their food.Well, dear reader, I can personally, on my reputation as a gastronome, that you will enjoy this authentic Mexican experience at Sombrero’s.Don’t forget to catch Today y Mañana every Thursday at 10:15 am on the I Love CVille network and stay tuned for more reviews!

Me and my girlfriend went here for lunch and ordered chips and quest as an appetizer when it came out the quest was not only watery it was COLD. Our main courses came shortly after and had little to no flavor, we normally would never do this but the food was so unappetizing we went to another restaurant after spending about $40

A wonderful local authentic Mexican establishment, warm hearted owner as well as staff, creat a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere. The food is delicious, get yourself some beef empenadas and tast the love in the food.Perfect for a bite to eat on the go or and or a meet-up for casual or semi formal work lunches, impeccable value eats! ?

I have always enjoyed this restaurant. The food is incredibly solid and I have always felt like you got plenty of food for your money. Aside from good price and great food the people are always super sweet. Make sure you get multiple sauces

Fantastic Mexican food for Charlottesville. So far my favourite place to go and they know how to do Shrimp properly so I'm happy. We stopped in for Valentine's Day lunch and weren't disappointed. Service is phenomenal, food was cooked perfectly and was overall delicious. We will definitely be back!
