La Parrilla's food is exceptionally delicious and always fresh. Wether I dine in the restaurant or order carry out, they never disappoint.

After trying nearly a dozen Mexican restaurants in the Hampton Roads area, this is the only one I visit with any regularity. They've remained consistent, polite, and delicious over the year I've been visiting.TL;DREasily the best in the area in terms of atmosphere, taste, and consistency. Light on salt for the chips but otherwise a slam dunk in food taste and quality. Recently upgraded their beans and rice. Highly recommended!Appetizers:The chips are always hot and fresh, though lightly salted- I usually ask for a shaker to add more. Chips are served with a fresh white salsa and a fairly standard red salsa. The white salsa is notably the best I've had period, whereas the red salsa is tasty but nothing to write home about. Their cheese dip is great, the particularly creamy and mild kind, and their fresh guacamole is made as a presentation to your liking- always tasty and well-done. Their normal guacamole is less impressive but still good if you like your guac smooth and with finely diced tomatoes. I've not ordered any appetizers beyond chips and dip, but I'm confident in saying that any appetizers you order willEntrées:I'm still working my way through the entrée menu, but I've thoroughly enjoyed what I've had. The chile relleno, chori pollo, and chimichangas all stand out as particularly good so far. Everything is well-seasoned without being overbearing and the food comes out quickly. As of this writing, they have upgraded to even better refried beans- a pleasant surprise! Their rice is seasoned and mixed with veggies and peppers but avoids the dry near-flavorlessness that I've found at many Mexican restaurants.Desserts:I don't often get dessert when I eat out, but La Parrilla definitely makes that difficult with their churros, flán, and fried ice cream, all of which are great. I particularly like the crisp churros, served with a drizzling of chocolate syrup and some vanilla ice cream.Service & Atmosphere:Perhaps the most important part of a dining experience. The service here is always superb. The food comes out quick, the servers are sharp on spotting near-empty cups and offering refills, and everyone is happy to help correct anything on the rare occasion that you're unhappy with your order. The bar side plays a variety of sports and you can easily request a channel change for your particular interest. The other side is quieter, with a lack of much of the gaudy and flashy decor that I've come to expect at many other places.

Nothing special about the food here. If I can make my own food better than a restaurant, it's not worth it. Food was burnt and dry and flavorless. Such a shame.

The food tasted great but was a little salty. The Queso is my litmus test. It was nice. The chicken wasn't dry. The prices were good for the lunch special. Speedy Gonzales and Chicken Monterey is what we ordered. The waiters were very attentive. However, that night I got horrible indigestion. Maybe it's just my stomach. I only took a star off because of sickness a few hours later. They should make sure the kitchen is checked over for bad food. I think it was possibly the mushrooms, refried beans or onions.Over all a pleasant experience.

Sooo good. I've been to 2 of these places as usual, this one was great, too. I had the la parilla special. It's so good and it's a grown man meal. It's not cheap but I wouldn't say expensive either. I'm not a fan of cheese sauce on my meat but this is my exception. It's just enough sauce. Not soppy. Good flavor. Schedule a nap after. Service was good. Everyone is attentive. Had a party of 14 with no complaints. I can't speak for the drinks. It was a work event

My husband and I went here last night. We received our check, however when he bought the final copy back, it almost 28.00 over the original receipt, which he ran my credit card for. When I bought it to his attention, his explanation was, "It is only $..... " Regardless of the amount, it is the principal and I asked for a manager. The server came back with cash for the difference and it was still short the amount he owed us. I asked for a manager again and I had to go and get the manager myself and he promptly apologized and refunded the difference. We will not visit this one again and I was disappointed with the servers.Make sure you check your receipt versus what you are charged if you go to this restaurant.

Went here for lunch before catching a movie at Harbor View. Amazing Mexican food!! We will definitely be back. Would like to try their guacamole next time we go...they make it right beside your table. We shared and beef and chicken chimichanga. They were both amazing.

My family loves this place! In my opinion the food and service are better than the new one at Bridgeport. Drinks and food are delicious! Order the frozen Texas Margarita! You won't be disappointed!

We have been eating at the other La Parrillas in N. Suffolk since they opened. This one has already eclipsed all others in food quality, service, and atmosphere. Yes, we came in during the dead zone, 2-3 PM, so the server had plenty of time to handle special requests which influenced our five star. Plus the chef had come from the LP across 17 so the food ought to be good. Still, a new restaurant is usually a hit or miss until they get a groove and our visit was a hit. Bottom line, we'll give'm a second date.

I love everything about this Mexican Restaurant! Along with a charming and beautiful interior, we have been greeted with cheerful smiles and the most attentive service. We have never been dissatisfied with anything we've eaten here . Every single meal has been beyond delicious and the presentation is always delightful. The manager has recently made a suggestion , because we love seafood , to try a Salmon entree ..and I was blown away at how good it was ! Absolute perfection ! We're so happy to have found this gem !

Did a DoorDash order and my food was not only completely wrong but cold, soggy and inedible. This is by far the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had. Save your money and go somewhere where they actually put effort into their food

I dined with friends and chose this location to see if it was different from the others. I liked this one the best. We were seated immediately early evening on a Monday. The place did begin to fill up as we ate. Chips and salsa were presented to us prior to our meal. Two of us ordered the Fried Chicken Chimichanga Dinner and found it to be tasty along with the spicy beans and rice. The other got a Fajita with additional jalapenos. It was good, but not exactly as he had expected. In all fairness to the server, there was a translation issue. We will know how to address this the next visit. All food items were very good. Our issue was with the margaritas. They weren't bad tasting exactly, but appeared watered down. I've had much better elsewhere. And, for the price, I expected better. If not for this, I would have given them a Very Good rating.

Delicious Food and superb hospitality. Anytime I'm working in the area I stop by to grab a bite on my lunch break?

Would give 0 stars if possible. Food came out burnt. Went to the bathroom to pee. By the time I got back to the table they brought the same burnt food back. Got my drink wrong as well. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Save your money and go to plaza.
