What a great place! We are locals and can't get here too often. Owners are usually around and and friendly. The food is creative and freshly prepared.If you are visiting and looking for a casual place ON the boardwalk... you need to eat at Johnny's!!!

This is the kind of place you travel from Florida to experience in Virginia Beach!Family owned that serves absolute quality, fresh ingredients, in large filling portions with prices that are entirely too low for what you are getting.We enjoyed the steak tacos, blackened Mahi tacos, & Chicken quesadilla with chips and their homemade salsa .. which btw the salsa needs to be jarred and sold on the shelves!Kid-friendliness: The owner had his own 2 young boys there.. I think that speaks volumes for how kid-friendly it is. It's got that laid back surf shack feel where everyone of every age feels comfortable.

Both the kitchen and the service staff at Johnny Manana's were very good. Tacos, quesadilla, and burgers were all yummy and well-presented. Of course, the ocean view gets five stars for atmosphere.

We stopped by here during the afternoon on Saturday. My husband and I each had one drink and while pricey, we were fine with it. They state (both on a sign and on the receipt) that they charge an additional 3.5% for credit card usage. Fine, lots of places were doing that, and I had cash. I paid in cash and the change given back to me was missing the $0.60 I was owed. I told the person behind the bar who looked at me and then went into their personal bag and found $0.55 to offer me. I was told there was no change in the building. What? You want to give people a discount for paying cash and then you steal from them? Not giving back $0.60 here and $0.80 there would add up. It’s stealing and sneaky. I will not be returning.

This place is bad. The fish was terrible and definitely not worth 20 bucks. The service was terrible. I asked for ketchup to drown the taste of bad fish and was brought a small packet size ketchup and the server had a problem that I asked for another. There was only 4 of us and was charged 16 dollars for gratuity! We didn't even order drinks! Do not eat here. You are better off spending your money on real seafood elsewhere.

Delicious tater tot nacho appetizer and shrimp tacos- also has great drinks and a nice atmosphere- definitely coming back when we’re at the beach!

Just been here and was totally ignored. Waited to be served for 20 minutes or so and not a care in the world from the waiters! By the way it was not busy at all! If there was zero star, they deserve it! Service= 0

Terrible food. Burritos were very dry and no taste. Way too overpriced. Honestly taco bell would be grand in front this. And it was just me and my wife. Food took so long and it was mandatory ~20% gratuity. Total ended up being $75 for very little non edible food. The best thing there was the water - to wash the taste of the food out of your mouth. Nice view of beach.
