Food was good, drinks were good, a nice experience. The service wasn't that great but it's okay.

I'm always down for new mexican spots... Especially after eating authentic while traveling. I ordered a few things to devour after enjoying my HH Margaritazzzz. The plantanos frito was ahhhhmazing. Plaintains were cooked perfectly, served piping hot and edges crystalized to the gods above. Accompanied by the best beans i've ever had in my life.Pause- Warning! Lol this review is turning into "all about the beans, babyyyy" cue the music! My loves, idk but these beans were made by the higher power himself. I'm thinking about going back again today just for the beans and plantains. I also ordered fajitas, they are served with two homemade corn tortillas. Who can't go wrong with fajitas?! Anyway- enjoy & if you decide to go- grab some beans & plantains and drop 'em off at my job. Lol

The place was in a random location but we decided to give it a shot. Restaurant had a good environment with the music, television and bar in the entrance. Service was Chips and salads were provided a- i liked that. Tacos de lengua were mid, plus they came without salsa and only had a quarter of a lime for 3 tacos. The sopa de res was alright, meat slid off the bone and it was served with tons of veggies at a good size. Not bad but didn't impress me.

Picky San Diegan. Good Mexican food on the East Coast is hard to find. This place hit the spot.

I should have viewed the reviews on Yelp before coming here, but my boyfriend had come here a few months ago and raved about how good it was, and told me they had elote. Soooo... We come here today and the sign still reads Las Tapatias. The inside looks exactly the same, the tables even embellished with the same name on the sign outside. However, once we receive the menus we realize they are totally different. Yes, Las Tapatias has been bought out by a restaurant called Costa del Mar, as other reviews have pointed out. We should have just gone somewhere else upon seeing that we were misled by the sign, Google listing, and Yelp listing, which all definitely need updated, but we decided to just dine there because we had already driven out of our way and been seated. Anyway, the service was okay, and what we ordered turned out to be really good, albeit pricey. Once we put in our orders (my boyfriend got fajitas and a pineapple agua fresca, me a shrimp quesadilla. We both also got waters), the server brought us our chips and dips. The white sauce was really good. I'm not a fan of salsa but my boyfriend is, and he was eating it up. While we were enjoying that, his agua fresca came out. I had a sip and it was deliciously fruity and refreshing. My partner's fajitas came out first. They were a sizzling hot combination of steak, bacon, and shrimp and veggies. They were served with flour tortillas and a nicely presented plate of veggies, beans, and rice. The portion was a little small compared to other fajitas skillets I've ordered at other restaurants. But he said it was delicious. It smelled mouth-watering, but I'm pescatarian so I didn't have a bite.Next came my shrimp quesadilla. Well, the menu said it was served with a lettuce salad with guacamole and crema. All there was was lettuce and guac with it, so I was looking to get a side of sour cream. After about 10 minutes our table was checked on and I was able to request some (come to find out later I was charged $4 for that small ramekin). The waitresses were busy chatting and they only came over because my partner dropped his knife on accident. Once I finally dug into my food, it was yummy. The quesadilla was a little smaller than other restaurants and had less shrimp than veggies, but it was still good. I like that they cut it in thirds for me.Once we were almost done eating, they brought the check suddenly even though my boyfriend wanted dessert. He was able to add it on and they updated the check. Once I viewed it, I realized how much we were charged for water and sour cream.. $4 each for single water bottles and $4 for a dollop of sour cream. They had even asked us if we want another bottle of water. I'm glad we said no. And as another review said, they automatically added an 18% gratuity. Safe to say, despite the good food, we will not be back. If they simply were transparent with their advertising, they would have gotten a better review.

Don't even bother with this place, been a few times no problems at the bar but went with my wife and sat a booth for a change, took 15 minutes just to get drinks and another 15 for food. Our server was constantly slow because at least 2 of the servers were flirting with guys at the bar or sitting at the bar on their phones. Never seen such i professionalism from servers in the area. The only thing saving this from one stars is the drinks are nice.
