This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Hampton Roads. The service is excellent. The food is delicious. While it may not offer the choices of the most exotic or varied restaurants found in NYC or Montreal, it has a wide offering; all of which is prepared well. The restaurant is nicely appointed and clean with the detraction of being located in a shopping center, but this is de rigour for Hampton Roads.

I try to bring everybody I know to this restaurant. A lot of people are hesitant. “It’s so expensive! Why is this Chinese food $20 for a meal!!” I have to explain that it’s a blend of traditional with some Americanized dishes. That this is a completely different experience from any of the thousands of ‘No. 1 Chinese’ restaurants across the country. I have to explain every time this is NOT P.F. Chang’s. P.F. Chang’s is NOTHING compared to PETER CHANG.The fried rice? The best fried rice I have EVER experience. This fried rice is LIFE CHANGING. Perfectly cooked. Excellent portion, even as a side to the meal. Now look, I’ll be honest. I’m a little scared to try new foods. Luckily, they have a dish here that I like so much that if it was the only thing they served (as long as it came with fried rice) I would be perfectly happy. Golden. Mountain. Chicken. Spicy. I’ve had the non spicy version. But it just doesn’t compare in the unique flavor profile that the spicy version has. If you like spicy food and you, like me, are afraid of eating pigs feet, or whole fishes, or chitterlings or whatever other traditional Asian cuisines us Americans are not accustomed to, get the golden mountain chicken (spicy). It’s like a general tso or sesame chicken, but the meat is fresh and the flavors are great.I just wish they had a lunch sized portion….

Food came out fresh but it needed some flavor not your average Chinese restaurant it was a more upscale atmosphere. My sweet and sour chicken sauce was different but not in a good way it was already came on the chicken but they made sure not to leave a drip of extra sauce anywhere so it made it dry. The lime in was dry too definitely would not go back.

We got soup to-go and were super excited, unfortunately, when you pay $7 per quart, you don't get a full quart of soup (and hardly any wontons in the wonton soup) Beware!!

Is Peter Chang not paying his employees (servers) or what??????? Your customers are not employers of your servers!!!!!!! Very bad experience I had. I have been going there for a decade now and also have referred a lot of friends and family. Now I will never go there again. Also, I will encourage the people I referred to stop going there.

Authentic Chinese restaurant. Service never disappoints, and the food is always on point. Definitely recommend.

Placed a mobile order earlier, picked it up but when we got home we noticed the fried rice had a smell to it. I told my husband it might just be because it was hot and in the styrofoam container but once we started eating we noticed it slimy and tasted off. We are Asians and definitely know how and when cooked rice has gone bad. Called to let them know and they offered to make us a new one if we go and bring the fried rice back. I agreed but husband said not to bother as it is not worth the drive. Wish they offered a credit for future order or refund instead. Just a head's up to make sure you check your order before leaving to avoid the inconvenience.p.s. they do have one of the best hot and sour soup, but probably not going to come back after this.

As someone with Celiac disease, I was excited to see that every page of their menu says to “ask about gluten-free options”. Unfortunately, the servers are not well-versed in what gluten-free really means.During two separate visits after asking about gluten-free options, separate servers recommended deep-fried items that could be made with cornstarch breading, however upon further questioning I determined that they used the same fryer as everything else so it wouldn’t be Celiac safe.It seems like their go-to gluten-free option is to just swap each dish’s sauces and spices with a white garlic sauce. Once I ordered GF Kung Pao Chicken and once I ordered GF Chicken with Wood Ear Mushrooms and both times I received the same stir-fried chicken with vegetables and white sauce.Overall, it was a bit disappointing. If only they were able to alter their dishes with tamari or coconut aminos instead of soy sauce and use a separate fryer or make things stir-fried instead of deep-fried, those of us who are gluten-free would have so many more options.

Ordered a large takeout (6 entrees) on a Saturday evening. Food was delicious and hot. They were able to accommodate a sesame seed allergy. The flounder and vegetables platter was AMAZING!
