We were looking for a donut shop - but due to the limited selection of the places in VB we decided to try the bakery. It was the best choice! We bought a lot of different things - donuts pastries and cake. This place is absolutely phenomenal! The curd in the lemon donut is absolutely amazing!

If I could give a million stars I would. Quite frankly I am at a loss for words on just how amazing of a job this bakery did. My youngest planned themselves a birthday party at last moment and left me 3 weeks to get everything together. I had placed my cake order with other companies first because of what my child was wanting (princess toys on the cake ??♀️). My regular place had the baker out of town, the other ones were full and the one I thought could fulfil the order canceled it less than five days before the party. So to say the very least I was stressing out. Thankfully my husband could tell I was at the end of my rope and did some googling which led to Sugar Plum. He called them thinking there was just no way they would be able to get this done on time but to his surprise they were able to. The day after he spoke to them we went in person and placed the order. The results were phenomenal. Everyone at my child’s party absolutely loved it from the appearance to the taste and the cake was gone within seconds of the first slice being cut. I am beyond thankful for the wonderful staff here and the way they put me at ease and made a work of art with little heads up. I cannot wait to place the next cake order. Also the other food they offer taste fantastic. Thank you again Sugar Plum! (Blocked out my child’s info but the sparkles were her favorite part ?)

The best bakery in VA beach, this was our first time here, the donuts were DELICIOUS! The service was wonderful and the lady who helped us was so sweet! Our new favorite bakery, we will definitely be back for some other goodies very soon!

The doughnuts are some of the best I have eaten. The selection and service are excellent. Just be prepared to pay a little more for the product. But the extra cost is worth it.

I paid $850.68 in May 2023 to have a beautiful cake for my wedding in December. I confirmed the day before, it would be delivered to the venue (since we paid 75$ for delivery) and that they would assist with cake toppers going on, since we made them ourselves. My family has already left poor reviews. But honestly everyone we asked recommended this bakery. The venue, other siblings, friends attending. The day came, nothing was delivered. Promptly calling the next morning, my wife and I were completely dismissed, “no record” of our receipt was in their cash register or system. And also absolutely no remorse, apology, or concern was given. Because we ordered so long ago, and naturally are on our honeymoon… getting the receipt was a bit of a task on our part but we got our original. Called back with all the information on it, were given the same stiff response of they can’t find the order. I demanded to wait till they did, we paid a lot of money for a ruined dessert. After about a 12 minute hold, a new apologetic “executive director” came on the line to say this has NEVER happened before that a cake “slipped through the cracks”. So I guess I was just lucky. She offered a “free” 6 inch cake for today, but we don’t have a wedding today. She did offer a “free” 6 inch anniversary cake, to remember we never got a cake the day of. While we understand she was trying to make the situation “right”, nothing about it was. My wife immediately burst into tears, after an hour on the phone and speaking to multiple different people this was the first apology we got. She offered a refund check, because we ordered SO long ago they couldn’t even do it in the system to the card. Upon going up there to get the check, the check out person said “so did you get it all worked out”…. You mean did we get married? What kind of a question is that?
This place is absolutely phenomenal. Whether you are a local or tourist comma you have to stop here!

I was looking for a local bakery that sold those good ole homemade donuts! I decided to try this place after finding it on Google. With the construction, it's hard to get to but once you're there it's all good! Upon entering, I took a number and was greeted by a staff member immediately. Everyone was so nice and friendly there! I loved the decorated cakes that were on display and the pastries most certainly looked good. I ordered 2 original glazed donuts and 2 old fashioned donuts with a cup of cappuccino. The glazed donuts were really good but the old fashioned donuts tasted like the oil it was fried in. I took one bite and couldn't finish the rest. The cappuccino was kind of disgusting as well. I ordered it with the flavor but couldn't taste it at all. Overall the service and atmosphere gets a 5 star but the rest gets a 3 star rating from me. I might go back to try the other items!Dietary restrictions: No gluten free options.

Really disappointed. I recommended to my sister that they use Sugar plum for their wedding. The cakes are so tasty. However, they paid nearly $800 for their cake in May. In December on their wedding day the cake was never delivered. The day before they called and confirmed the delivery details.The day after they "had no record of the order" and treated my sister like she was lying.Even after "finding the order" no apology has been offered or explanation.An established business like this should be able to keep track of orders and due dates. Especially when customers are paying so much money.
