This restaurant is overrated. The food itself is just fine, nothing remarkable or exceptional. It is however overpriced for the experience. We had problems with our burner at our table, not getting hot enough and constantly turning off or being unresponsive. Nothing crazy just a small annoyance.About halfway through our experience, (after eating salads , cheese fondue) our entrees arrive. We have an assortment of steak, shrimp, chicken etc. we selected the "big night out" package as this was our first time here and we wanted to try everything. We chose to cook our food on the skillet. The skillet did not heat up as expected due to our burner problem, we eventually got it up to temperature. Like I said small annoyance, nothing crazy. We quickly ran out of oil on our skillet and had to ask for more as our food was starting to stick. We asked for salt and pepper as none of the meats are seasoned other than the teriyaki beef. The meats themselves were delicious, but very small portions. You'll pay about $110 for the "big night out" package and we just expected more. We got about 1/3 the way through our entree when my date and I both agreed that this is just not for us. The experience was off, and you feel bad for spending such a large amount of money for a date and it's headache after headache. If you are looking to cook your own food, a Korean BBQ restaurant is a much better alternative to this place. The only reason we tried this restaurant was because of reviews that we have heard and our conclusion is that it is more of a gimmick restaurant than a date night restaurant. Our server Sophia was amazing and very kind. The manager of the restaurant, Carson, was not professional at all. We asked our server if we could talk to the manager as we felt paying $110 for a meal we didn't even eat half of made us sick to our stomach. Now, we ate our salads, cheese fondue, an appetizer and two drinks. All of which were fine and I was perfectly fine with paying for as we actually consumed them. When the check came around we were stuck with the $110 charge for the "big night out."I politely asked Carson (Manager) if there was anything that could be done about our check as we honestly did not like the experience at all. He replied in a smug attitude that there is nothing that can be done as the food was out at the table already. I explained to him that we are not trying to get one over on him or the restaurant, that we stopped in the middle of dinner and were ready to end the experience and just call it a night. He wouldn't budge on any reasoning and did not extend much courtesy or empathy. At the end of the exchange he offered to comp our two drinks for $20. I explained that we both drank our drinks and weren't looking for that, as a matter of principle we wanted to work something out on the dinner. He would not show an ounce of empathy or any customer service. So long story short we paid $115 for two drinks, some bread and cauliflower dipped in cheese fondue and a charcuterie board.I understand that part of this is my fault as this was our first time and didn't know what to expect. This is definitely not for us. If you want to cook your own food go to Korean BBQ. If you want fine dining or a date night go literally anywhere else without the frills. This has to be by far the most overrated restaurant I've ever been in.

We had dinner reservations at 7pm for two on 2/24/24. When we got there, we still had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. They were very busy.Taylor was our server and was so sweet and professional! She did such a great job explaining everything to us because even though it was our third time there, we had forgotten a few things.I ordered the Land and Sea and my husband ordered the Steak Lovers. The food is always really delicious, however my plate didn't have hardly any food on it. I'll bet if I weighed it, it would barely weigh 6oz total. I don't remember having so little food the last time we were there. For the price, it was EXTREMELY disappointing! The atmosphere is always very romantic which was perfect because we were celebrating our third anniversary. I don't know what the problem was but it was hot as hell in there! I understand there's heat on the tables but some AC would've been awesome. My husband and I were sitting there sweating and couldn't wait to leave, which was a shame. Overall, we were there for about 2 1/2 hours because they were so busy. We still really enjoyed our time but I'm not so sure we'll go back because, like I said before, the amount of food you get on your entree for a bill of over $140 with tip was a bit much.(The pictures below shows our entrees, or lack there of. My land and Sea was missing one shrimp and one piece of steak because I forgot to take a picture before I started eating)

My girlfriend and I decided to come over to Melting Pot in VA Beach. Although we are from the Newport News area this was one of the best decisions we’ve made in a while. Angelica is our bartender currently and let me tell you she knows how to keep the customers happy with her good drinks and superb personality. This for sure might be our new spot. Thanks too her we feel super comfortable and will be back for sure.

My boyfriend and I come here for special occasions and his birthday/Valentine's Day was this trip and as always, it did not disappoint! Wonderful service and food, complete with a birthday cake fondue with a sparkler. Will definitely continue coming back!

The experience was a disappointment as they were only offering the valentines special, even though it was not valentines which means we each had to pay $80, not disclosed mind you, for my wife, my 13 yr old, 6yr old and I for a selection we didn't want. The experience and service was good but the quality and cost did not justify the price point. Based on this last experience, this was most likely our last visit.

It was our very first time visiting last night. The food and drinks were delicious. It was a good experience being hands on with our meals. I am gluten free and they had great options even with the dessert. We will definitely be coming back for our future date nights.Vegetarian options: They have a variety of meatless options.Dietary restrictions: They have great gluten free options.

we had a terrible NYE experience and did not get the service we expected nor did we get what the "experience" stated on our reservation. we did not get the same menu nor flowers etc. I did send an email to the location about our experience and a month later we still have not received any reply or apology. I did get the "auto reply " that they received the email. so buyer beware you may not get what you signed up for.

Our experience was good. I wish it would have been a little better, since we were celebrating a birthday. Unfortunately, the experience felt a little rushed. It was clear that it was near closing and our server was trying to rush the experience along. The first couple of “check-ins” were fine and polite, but it got annoying and incessant very quickly. Additionally, because it was so rushed at the end, no special “Happy Birthday” plate/treat or candle was brought out for the celebration. I know this is a typical thing for birthday at The Melting Pot. The primary reason for coming was to celebrate a birthday, so it wasn't ideal that it was overlooked at the end.

Amazing food, ambience and service. Our server Genevieve was phenomenal and knowledgeable about all of the courses, sauces, and meats! Highly recommend this location.

Really wish the restaurant would have some type of ventilation for the guest who choose to skillet fry their food. The entire restaurant was filled with smoke. I saw a waitress bump down the air several times to try to control it but it didn't help

The Melting Pot is always a fun experience. From the welcoming hostesses to the waiters and support staff the Melting Pot employees are friendly, knowledgeable, and solicitous. A great venue for any occasion. We will return!

Wow! I love "Virginia Beach Restaurant Week" This is my first stop at one of many amazing restaurants that is offering pre-set course meals for this week's event. Starts Jan 15th - 21st. The official website: dineinvb.com I chose "The Melting Pot" cause I haven't had it in a while, plus I love fondue. The pre- set course meal was only $35 per person and well worth it! They start with the appetizer and they give you big pile of veggies and bread. Plus you get to chose you cheese and broth Then comes the ceaser salad then main course. I just love the 6 dips that you can try. It didn't come with dessert, but you can add it on for additional $10 per person. In my book it's so worth it! My waiter was so cool and on top of everything! The atmosphere is cozy. Definitely worth the price plus I got my doggy bag! Looking forward to my next stop!
