Spent nearly $100 on she crab soup. It was like water with some canned crab meat. Standing in front of my stove now trying to cook the water out to do something with it. I am local, so really wanted this place to be something. Was willing to pay the over market prices to support local. I bought some stuffed crab as well. That was freezer burnt and canned meat too. I heard from an old timer that this place used to be better. I will give it another shot next season and hope it’s what old timer told me about.

I don't know how I have not written a review for Welton's in the past! My family comes to the VA Beach oceanfront every summer for a 1 week vacation in July. We have a great tradition that we started about 6 years ago.On the first night of vacay, by the time we get checked into our place and unpacked, the wait at local area restaurants is already at least 2 hours long. That's not doable with hungry kids and 11 people total. So, every year, we pre-order 13lbs of snow crab legs and 4lbs of steamed shrimp from Welton's. We all check-in to our place and then pick up the food in aluminum pans before they close at 5PM. On the way back we pick up a to-go order of hushpuppies and some cold Corona's with limes. We celebrate the kickoff of our family vacation with a seafood feast instead of going out. Welton's seafood is always so fresh and they always do a fantastic job!

Been going here for a long time but haven't been in quite a few years because it's a long drive. The prices are a little high but it's fresh and if that's what your looking for, this is the place. Very friendly owner. Got some great looking salmon!

Always the freshest seafood in Virginia Beach. I picked up two pounds of big, beautiful shrimp and a pound and a half of luscious scallops on Saturday, October 15th for seafood boil I was doing for a friend. She said everything was delicious. It was a little on the costly side but we'll worth the money. The people who waited on me were very friendly.

Another 'small business' that doesn't mind taking Visa cards (and using their machine) but charges you a 'convenience fee' to do so. They already charge a premium for their product -- no need to 'gouge' on using electronic money. Sorry, 5bucks still means something to some people. Visit ONLY if you have money to burn and throw away.

We rent a condo in Va Beach once or twice a year and always have noticed Weltons after picking up the keys. We always have said, “we need to stop there!”. We finally did and we haven’t had shrimp or grouper this fresh in years. We love supporting small, family owned businesses and will most definitely be back!

Very rude on the phone. The gentleman I spoke with started ranting about not being able to reserve them (which I understand but, hey, move on dude) and when I asked for an idea of the price for a bushel of blue crabs the gentleman hung up on me.

Fantastic shop! They have everything here from the freshest seafood to wonderful baked goods to already prepared meals that you just have to pop in the oven. The owners are so friendly anc knowledgeable. The shop is extremely clean. I highly recommend.

visited here recently called first said he had crabs got there a few minutes later he said he had 4 people in front of me who needed crabs steamed no one was there no crab smell in the air he was rude and our whole family went in all seafood lovers visiting the area he said can only 2 of you come in at a time. We left he calls us I just got crabs in we said we pass he lied from the get go he was rude and very impolite.
