I ordered a dozen cupcakes for a Christmas party. It was my first time ordering from Extraordinary Cupcakes but the reviews were so good!What a mistake! Ordering them was easy but picking them up was not—staff at Illy were not knowledgable. But whatever—I got the cupcakes and was on my way. But the quality of the cupcakes—-the cupcakes were dry! I was so disappointed not to mentioned kinda peeved b/c they were not cheap :(

We were so sad to find out that after the pandemic, our favorite cupcake storefront had closed. I’m happy they teamed up with illy Caffe! The thought of not being able to get one of their cupcakes again was depressing!I love their seasonal recipes and their every day ones as well. Their cake is moist and the frostings and fillings aren’t overly sweet- they are perfect! They also are a great gift for birthdays and special occasions!
Liked last location better on Richmond road. DoG street not very accessible on weekends. Workers at Illy didn't seem to know what was going on with cupcakes. Have to place an order online and no one answering phone after multiple calls. Cupcakes just appeared by door on shelf but no confirmation that they were ready. Not sure what's going on, just need some communication. Still 5 stars though because we love these cupcakes!!Dietary restrictions: Gluten free cupcakes are the best!! We get them for every special occasion

I have loved this place from day 1. The prices have gone up over the years, but the quality is exactly the same. I am however sad now of the new location inside of Merchant Square. I had too order online, find a spot to park, and walk through the Square to get my cupcakes. This is terribly inconvenient. This is my second complaint in all the years I have supported this business. I will continue too support though, because these cupcakes are just like the name!? lol

Positives- the cupcakes are SO good!Negatives- parking for the new location in CW is very chaotic during summer tourist season on the weekends. Even though they tell you to use the loading zone, just getting to the parking lot and hoping that space is open takes forever. Not ideal for locals. I ordered ahead of time and received a text saying they were ready. I arrived 20 min later and the front desk said they were still not ready, which didn’t make sense.

Cupcakes are YUMMY!! Easy to order and pick up, great customer service - a huge hit at surprise birthday party. Ordered variety and we couldn’t decide a favorite, they are ALL good!

We stopped at the Illy cafe for some gluten free cupcakes, not realizing they needed to be ordered online beforehand. When we asked the counterstaff if they had anything GF they just said no. A bit of a disappointment, but after heading home and doing some research i realized we needed to book an order online. Headed back an hour later and got what we wanted- my wife was raving about how good they were. I tried a bite (gf chocolate/peanut butter icing) and they were indeed awesome.I just wish the google map pin was updated to avoid future confusion and maybe cafe staff could have explained the process(?) rather than a simple 'no'.
My husband and I had a great experience with ordering our wedding cake from Extraordinary Cupcakes! We had a lovely tasting, and the team was very responsive and helpful in the weeks leading up to the wedding. The delivery and setup went off without a hitch, and our guests absolutely loved our cake and kept commenting how delicious it was! Very excited to eat our frozen piece on our first anniversary. :)

Horrible!! I drove 1 hour and 15 min. to get their seasonal Strawberry and Peach cupcakes. What a disappointment! Arrive at the new location (inside a cafe) and find out you need to place an online order a day in advance and then pick up your order in back corner on shelf at the cafe. Online orders only! You can no longer just walk in and look at the cupcakes and be greeted by someone when picking out what cupcakes you want. Its just a pickup shelf in far back corner!!! I don't have internet where I live in rural area so I can't order online in advance, (using library to post this) they don't take phone calls either. I will now take my business to SMALLCAKES where they have BETTER customer service, selection, prices, taste, and hours.

Was initially bummed with the new one hour ordering thing BUT Got amazing blueberry cupcake fresh out of oven— amazing! Even better when they’re just made!! Well done!!!!

This was my first time to and Illy Cafe and this a really nice location. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and the young guy who took our order was really nice. My mom go a coffee and I got a tea. We shared a chocolate cupcake which was really good. It makes a great spot to meet with friends or if you’re visiting the area like we were.

Wow! What a scare! My wife and I recently stopped by our favorite cupcake place in Hampton Roads. Turns out we accidentally went to the old location and thought the business had closed. I called the number and was relieved to learn that they'd simply relocated to Market Square in Williamsburg...whew! Dyna makes absolutely the most delicious cupcakes we've had anywhere in the world, and we've been across the globe. We ordered the lemon raspberry, the Madagascar vanilla, chocolate flip, and the chocolate peanut butter. We love the filling combinations Dyna uses, and the contrasts are amazing! She used to sell her signature "Extraordinary Cupcake" which was a decadent version of a Hostess cupcake that was to die for. Maybe if people start asking for it again she'll bring it back?!!! We can't say enough about how good her cupcakes are, Enjoy!!!
