The wine was tasty! The service was EXTREMELY slow. The Turkey Brie sandwich was a great choice! The restaurant could use a refresh-- rather dingy and tired looking.

We have enjoyed our many dining experiences at Gabriel Archer Tavern. There are always excellent options including seafood, beef or vegetarian. Great selections available for desserts. On campus wine selections should satisfy most palates.

Food was good, not outstanding though, ran out of risotto which was disappointing. Back room of restaurant is v plain n lacking. Desserts were just ok, we had a bday celebration that was made known but this was not acknowledged. Overall it was fine but not rushing back.

Atmosphere was no more like a tavern than a bar b que restaurant. Very limited menu. Service was horrid. Ate there two nights. Had to send our main course back three time, it was cold. Will not be going back. Do not know what the draw is and how some of these other reviews can possibly be accurate. 2/24/2024

Food was very good; service was excellent. We unfortunately had 4 very loud diners sitting at the next table. When the waitress brought our excellent dessert, we asked to be moved to an adjoining room. She graciously moved us away from the inconsiderate loudmouths.

Wonderful place, great service and quality of food. The roast beef and gouda sandwich, raw oysters and mussels are delicious! The wine is really good too! Mary, the hostess is the best!! One of our favorites!

We didn’t make a reservation so we sat at the bar. Which was great because the “waitresses/bar attendants” were great. Meredith & Nikayla (sp?) thank you for such great service and very welcoming atmosphere!! The food was superb, and thank you both for your recommendations on food & drinks! Highly recommended!!! ♥️

Brought my husband and a friend this time with a discerning palate who loved the new fall risotto! She hadn't been in nearly 15 years and was tickled with the great service from Jacob (her words: attentive without hovering!) and the fantastic appetizer of Swedish meatballs. Little bit of noise but even being hard of hearing I was able to follow the conversation at the table.
We are frequent customers because of the delicious food. The shrimp and grits are delicious, the best in the town because of their unique flavor, and the Virginia Ham Benedict is so good!

We've eaten at this establishment several times and always had a good experience. Unfortunately I can't say the same for this last visit. we were seated to a very large party that was celebrating a birthday. Very nice of them to celebrate a birthday, but the room was so noisy you could not hear yourself think nor carry on a conversation with one another. We asked to be moved, but there was nothing available. We waited quite a while to be served because our waitress was tied up with the big party. Would not go again if there is a big party going on. Glad they had fun, but not fun for others.
Great brunch we arrived early and our hostess said 'we love early people' setting the tone for a very happy and positive meal. the food was excellent and our server, Abigail was very knowledgeable, attentive and sweet.

The entire meal was well prepared including vegetables and potatoes. Wonderful flavors. Not overpowering. As good as a best big city 5 star restaurant. Service was friendly and helpful. Definitely go again.

I was really surprised at the condition of the restaurant, needs updating. Staff was great but food disappointing. Entree not prepared as requested, side salads with mostly lettuce without enough dressing. Soup not warm served without bread or crackers. Wine ok. Noise level on patio very loud, should have sat inside. Meal overpriced for quality.
