Arrived at 11am, sat at the bar. Bartender had to lean in to hear us because Iron Maiden was blasting so loud she couldn’t hear, nor could we hear her or even hear ourselves. We loved the bar, the food was excellent, beer on tap selection also excellent, the service was good…but the music never let up, not in intensity or volume. Felt it was short sighted for the bar to be more interested in what they wanted to listen to versus taking it down a notch so they could hear customers. Now, if the place was hopping, sure extremely loud heavy metal may be a given. But, short of us the place was empty. Music is easy to lower or change, places should consider the clientele when they can.

I travel a lot for business and I get so tired of trying to find decent places to eat. Union Jack was an amazing find. Best fish and chips I've had in ages. Paired with the Union Jack IPA, and pretzels with beer cheese... I'm glad I don't live near this place, I'd weigh 400 lbs. The bartender Emily was super sweet and pretty darn cute I might add. Atmosphere was perfect, great music (not too loud) and soft lighting, but not so dim that you couldn't see what you were eating. Great place to grab dinner.

As always, the food and service were great (and it was busy because of the Celtic Festival)!

This place has been a staple of ours for 15yrs give or take. Despite the food portions and options declining over time (bring back the pretzel please!!!), the atmosphere and tap beer have stayed strong!

Updated*Used to be Best happy hour in town. After new ownership took over they stopped it along with cutting the beer selection. Sad to see a community staple slip into a NoVa type generic bar.

The food was ok but nothing was great. Pretzel and beer cheese appetizer didn’t taste fresh. Fish and chips was 75% batter 25% fish. The reviews had been so good we had really been looking good forward to dinner here but I was disappointed and wouldn’t come back.

Forgot how bland English food was and this place reminded me. Had the pretzel and beer cheese. With the amount of salt added on top of it you’d think it would taste of something. Had the fish and chips as the main course and goodness it was as if I was eating a flavorless fried mass, even after drowning in tartar sauce. Even the beer I ordered was warm. Would not recommend it or go again myself.
