We werent even going to go into JP's on Saturday but the doorman convinced us. Glad we listened to him. Had a blast. Next time we are in town we will definitely come back. Thank you Corey and the rest of the JPs staff.

Best karaoke in town. NO ONE is doing it like JPs.

I used to be a frequenter of JPs because they didn't attract the college crowd and you could just sit without loud and annoying noise or people bothering you.But I actually stopped going because of a lot of small cons and one a big con-- I'll start with the big con: the clientele/DJ. the most recent visit I had, a group of white men chose a karaoke song by Kanye West which utilizes the n word repeatedly (Gold Digger). With the area being like 95% white, surely the bar would use a censored version of the lyrics which does not encourage use of racial slurs. But no! That's not the case with JPs. In front of a very crowded room, these white men proceeded to yell out the n word every single time it occurred in the song, at the top of their lungs, while the crowd in the pub sang along (with hard r to boot). DJ did not stop the music or the karaokers. None of the staff at JPs put a stop to that behavior. My friend and I got up and left promptly because we were so uncomfortable with how the situation was being handled. i do not think it is justifiable to encourage that type of behavior at all and witnessing this really turned my experience with JP's sour. But it's a good explanation for why you never see people of color in the bar-- it's clearly not a safe space for them. Here are the small cons as well:-the bathroom is not very nice or clean-the bouncer is kind of rude -the dj is always apathetic-the clientele is mostly white millennial men, with some older men. There were very rarely other women there when I used to go regularly, so the vibe doesn't feel super safe. -there is an abysmal shortage of seating (the space fits many, but there are only a few chairs and tables)-don't love having to pay to play pool or foosball (yes I know many bars make you pay, I still think it's weird). -if you don't arrive super early, other people who got there first will fill the karaoke queue by getting in line for 3-5 songs each, so you'll just have to wait for the same 5 people to go over and over again for a couple hours before you get a chance. It's not an effective system, with no limit to how many spots you can reserve for yourself. Those small things could be forgivable each on their own, but they pile up, and the instance where I saw the true colors of the clientele and staff at JP's for the first time really threw me.

This is a cheap bar for the area, they have pool, fooz ball and karaoke. The bouncer wasn't very nice but the place was packed with drunk people so I understand why.
