A very nice, welcoming restaurant. Barrows has a family friendly, and a warm atmosphere. The food is excellent and the drinks were even better! Highly recommend.

My four year-old daughter and I took my husband out to Barrows for his birthday dinner. I only mentioned it on the OpenTable app because it asked if we were celebrating any milestones. I didn't think anything of it. Our server, Alex, was amazing. He was incredibly kind, attentive, had excellent suggestions, and he was consistently checking in with us. Truly a lovely person. Drinks were devine. I had a lemon drop mocktail that both my daughter and I LOVED. Husband had an old fashioned and said it was perfect. The food was excellent. The soup of the day was a shrimp chowder - beyond! Barrows always had amazing soups. Steaks were phenomenal and cooked to perfection. Our daughter had the kids burger and we opted for the veggie instead of fries for her. She's not a cooked carrot fan yet she inhaled every roasted carrot on her plate. Dessert was shared by the three of us and was yummy! Just as we were finishing dessert, Alex arrived with an entire personal-sized birthday cake for my husband, candle and all. It was such a special and thoughtful gesture. I was really surprised and grateful for this kindness. Barrows has been a favorite of ours for a while. This experience was simply another fantastic evening there. We will always be back!

Locals party of three dating to go out on a school vacation week! We were pleasantly surprised by the outstanding service and overall quality of the food and cocktails! Thanks for a great dinner out- we appreciate you!!

Food is always excellent. Only flaw was our waiter didn't put in our main dish order while we were having the appetizer, but not until we were done with our appetizer, making us wait for it to be cooked. Other than that, the meal was excellent.

I've been coming to Barrows House for over 20 years. Love the new ownership's improvements. Restaurant experience is perfect. Food, drink and ambiance for a VT vacation is outstanding! The various accommodations are also excellent! After a day of skiing nothing better than a great meal, bottle of wine and relaxing in front of the fireplace.

I’d like to say how nice the entire staff treated us. Everyone was friendly and always wearing a smile. This was our first time at Barrows and can’t wait to return. Thanks to everyone for making our visit special.Rooms: Rooms were cozy and spotless. The entire inn and its grounds were well maintained and tidy.Nearby activities: Plenty of places and things to do.Food & drinks: Dinner at the inn was great. We also ate at the Dorset Inn which was also excellent. The Dorset Inn is their sister inn. And there’s also a top shelf bakery in between the two inn’s. Everything is within walking distance of each other.

The visit here was part of the holiday tour of Vermont Country Inns to support the local food bank. We did not stay the night here. This inn is a sister property to the Dorset Inn. Rooms feel more modern but each room has its own feel. They have a good number of rooms and did a great job decorating for the christmas holiday!

Very interesting menu with choices for all kinds of palates. A nice use of local ingredients that really shows a good influence of local ingredients. A great value for a very pleasant dining experience.

Great ambience, excellent service by the hostess , bus person and waitress. The calamari was really good and the blood orange cosmo was a nice cocktail. We got the wagyu burgers that had a full pickle on top. So delicious! The portion sizes were large- we took half home! We will be back with friends

Very, very good food and super big portions - couldn't even finish them! And that's a lot coming from me because I can eat. But note it was. 4-course prix-fixe menu for NYE

We were seated immediately upon arriving for our reservation. We then waited 15 minutes before anyone came to the table to take our beverage order, and another 8 minutes went by before the drinks were served. Table was in the corner and very cold. Appetizer of baked brie and entrees of lamb shank were very good. Dessert menu was uninviting so we had none. Server was very pleasant and not sure how much control he had over the timing, but it was totally unsatisfactory and we will not plan to visit again.

The food was incredibly salty--over the top salty. We were grateful that they made accommodations to menu items (there was nothing vegan on the whole menu, but they took cheese and bacon off a few items for us, like the salads and brussels sprouts), but the salt levels were just terrible (the brussels sprouts were drowning in salty sauce instead of just letting the delicious fresh sprouts be tasted). The truffle fries were delicious, but again, way too salty to eat more than a few. We were really disappointed. The vibe was a bit more sports bar and a bit less "fine dining" than we had experience in the past. But, my nephew got the cornish game hen with mashed potatoes and carrots special and it was definitely a much more delicious meal than the rest of us had--so at least the special meal was 'on point.'
