Didn't lodge at Ruthcliffe, just ate at the restaurant. The service, the quality of the food, and the unbeatable views make it totally worth the trip to this hidden gem in Isle La Motte. Reservations required.Food & drinks: Dinner can be enjoyed outdoors and it is a great experience all around with friendly staff and delicious food and beautiful lake views.

In the most unlikely place, a campground and summer lodge lies a culinary experience worth the adventure to get to. After meandering through the beautiful Champlain Islands and traveling on secondary roads, we arrived. The evening we were there it was cool and rainy. We still chose to sit on the covered deck. Our waitress was attentive and very nice. I ordered the short rib with garlic mashed potatoes. The other dinners in the party ordered rack of lamb and seafood Alfredo. All of the dishes came with a salad and choice of starch. Food was excellent!!! By the end of the meal the sun came out and we had a phenomenal view of Lkw Champlain and the sunset. Highly recommend Ruthcliff Lodge!

Me and my family always love coming here. The owners are super nice. The service and food is amazing. Everything is super clean and well run. And there are courses (soup, salad, main, and dessert) which makes the experience super fun. The view of the lake and mountains is stunning. And the restaurant is accessible by both boat and car. Would 100% recommend coming here. A well worth it hidden gem.

The food at Ruthcliffe makes the journey more than worth it...I eat out at many restaurants on a weekly basis but this is by far the BEST of them all...their seafood alfredo is the best I have ever had and Mark and Kathy(The owners) make everyone most welcome...I can't wait to return once more. You won't be sorry to come here and have a great meal....Prof. Rene Vallee Grand Isle, Vermont 05458..
We loved our stay at Ruthcliffe , it was peaceful and quiet and clean with a lovely spot on the lake , breakfast was top notch , my wife said the waffles were by far the best she ever had in her life , I wish we had a chance to have a dinner there , we had read reviews from Frommers and other sources who said the food was incredible, based on breakfast I would say it’s likely true….there is a campground near but you don’t even notice it’s there and we had lovely bike rides each morning on a quiet 10 mile loop where we saw lots of wildlife …this in all aspects was a 10 for us if your looking for peaceful quiet and clean and a chance to relax and have stellar breakfasts and recharge your battery’s . This is the perfect place

Beautiful place and kind people, but reservations ONLY which isn’t noted anywhere on the website, so we were turned away despite a number of empty tables. We were allowed to have a drink on the lower deck, which was lovely, but I fail to see why we couldn’t order off the menu.
