This establishment can do so much better with their service. Came in on my lunch hour to get a sandwich; Pastrami Reuben, nothing special. I ordered at 12:20pm, and didn’t walk out with my sandwich until 12:55pm. Mind you that the man who took my order told me 10 minutes. There were a couple “locals” who they knew by first name that ordered well AFTER me, but still got their sandwiches and left long BEFORE I did. ( I’ve lived in Rutland for 25 years) Having worked in the service industry for many years, that is terrible customer service. I will not be going back. With that being said, the sandwich was decent.

I come to Vermont from Texas to visit my daughter and son-in-law and every time I'm here I HAVE to have a turkey sandwich from Ernie's. I don't know what kind of magic they use but I'm hooked! Staff is great and the place is cozy with big windows!

Very unassuming little place but holy moly are the sandwiches good! Everyone at the counter was patient as I poured over the menu, they made suggestions and were overall very helpful. The sandwiches really are handcrafted and made with care. It’s nothing fancy, just paper plates and a few small tables but comfortable and clean. I did wait about 15 minutes for my sandwich at peak lunch time but it’s worth the wait.

First time visiting this sandwich shop. Staff were courteous and attentive. Sandwiches, soup, and coleslaw were all really good, and the ciabatta rolls were the highlight.

Had the opportunity to get lunch at this establishment. One of the best sandwiches I can remember ever having "Grilled Chicken Bacon ".Made to order by a friendly courteous staff. Who treats you as a valued customer.Very simple ambiance that makes for a great place for conversation over your meal.Looking forward to returning and trying out another of their specials!

This was not a hand carved sandwich. Turkey was a poor quality deli meat. Bread offerings were from Arnonld's. Really??? They advertised as cooking their own meats for their sandwiches (and I called them to confirm this) however, this was not the case. The price was very high for the quality. (about $15 for the sandwich) We were expecting a sandwich like we can order at Putman Market in Saratoga. This was not even close to that quality. We would not return. Staff was friendly though, but they need to improve their quality. Get some bread from a local bakery and better quality meats if they don't intend to cook their own.

In a word, DELICIOUS. The chicken bacon club is a strong contender for the best sandwich I’ve ever had. Blows we away that their Google reviews is only a 4.9
