We rely on Zen Gardens to make us a delicious take-out dinner when we're overwhelmed. Their food is so yummy we always order extra so we have lunch the next day. They are quick and responsive; there's rarely a long wait like there is at the pizza places. And the food is so much better! They offer both American Chinese food and the more traditional authentic dishes. What we love most is their full vegetarian menu. If you don't see it, ask. Their vegan options are absolutely fabulous. Fresh, tender, flavorful.Vegetarian options: Ginger "chicken" with green beans!!

Our family's favorite Chinese takeout in the area. Some amazing vegetarian options; great portions; lo mein is excellent. Service is always kind and warm. Online ordering is easy and efficient. Everything I need when providing a meal for my family that I don't have to cook!

They were takeout only for a while, but are serving meals at tables again. I was there Friday evening and the place was pretty much empty. What a shame. The food is really good, especially if you like spicy. .But they will honor a clear request for "mild. There veggies are excellent quality and cooked to perfection, i.e. not overcooked." Meats tend to be much leaner than other Asian restaurants. The prices are inflating some, but not compared to other local eateries or convenience store takeout.

If I could give 0 stars I would..first of all after getting 2 dinners which were general taos and pineapple chicken that is the only Chinese restaurant I have ever seen without rice or egg rolls automatically coming with it the breading on the tsaos was clearly old n hard pasty inside And the chicken was dry the pineapple chicken dinner was even worse tasted sour and just off ..we had ordered crab Rangoon which we both ate one bite and a spoiled taste was the first notable flavor..we had ordered rice seeing no one would want just chicken w out a side on a special menu so after being charged 76.52 for a horrible dinner and my sister up all night in the bathroom and me waking up w nausea and feeling green we called the restaurant and were accused of not wanting to pay for our meal which we obviously already paid for and then was told to take it up with the health department if we had a problem..we still had all the food and said we would bring it back but was told no how did he know it wasn't tampered with and hung up on ..1st of all we are from out of state visiting our daughter in school and were mislead by the reviews that clearly were from workers or family..this is definitely the absolute worst Chinese restaurant I have ever been to in my 50 years on this planet and now know why the parking lot was empty besides the restaurant only being open for take out we sat there for a minute outside waiting for our meal and should of listened to myself when I said it's Saturday night and not one person is picking up dinner maybe we should cancel ...I wish we did in Heinsight nn

This is by far the best Chinese restaurant I've been to in the Burlington VT area... I know Chinese food very well. I've lived in LA and when I was in California I had amazing Chinese food at amazing restaurants in San Francisco and in the San Gabriel valley... and Zen Garden stands up to that level of authenticity and honesty to the beauty of Chinese cuisine. The Peking duck is amazing, the beef noodle soup is delicious and pure to the canon of what you want in a beef noodle. It's a beef noodle I would expect in Monterey Park. It is an amazingly good Chinese restaurant. A great restaurant to bring your Chinese friends and family if you want to impress them with a great find. The dumplings are delicious, they were just as you would expect them to be served in size and round and the size of cows eye. Hand made and tasting fresh and light. The banquet enter choices all around have always been delicious, the sauces are great, fair consistency and balanced levels of savory and sweet. Zen garden is my fiancé and I'd favorite restaurant in the area. We loved the service and the atmosphere. We are so grateful to have a wonderful Chinese family restaurant close to home where we can sometimes have nice dates.

Greattttttt Chinese food!! While staying in the area, we wanted late night Chinese. We got take out to bring back to our hotel and Zen Gardens hit the spot! They have a nice selection of mock meats and regular. The veggie spring rolls were crispy, fresh and massive! Vegan gen tsos mock meat dish was amazing! Everything was hot, fresh, large portions & the staff was great! Great spot for Chinese food on a late night during our vacation! Check this place out!

Overpriced. Bad quality appetizers. We decided to try this place out and will not be back. Nice people, but bad food, especially for the price. Chicken Lo Mein was savory but crazy greasy, portion was okay. Inside looked better than most Chinese establishments. I would suggest people go elsewhere.

Meh veggie dumplings (really lacking flavor in the filling). INCREDIBLE veggie fried rice. My husband and I were fighting over it! I can't speak to anything other than the food since we got takeout, but I'll definitely order from them in the future. Oh and serving sizes were totally reasonable for the price.

This was one of my go-to spots for Chinese food when I lived in the Burlington area. Because of the pandemic, I mostly got takeout, but I did get to enjoy a few sit-down meals there before moving away. It's a really nice space inside, and the staff are very friendly. The menu offers both American Chinese favorites as well as some more traditional fare (emphasis on Taiwanese and Sichuanese). Never ordered anything I didn't like.

The restaurant is closed for dine-in right now so we got take out last night. The food was AWFUL! Tasteless and way over cooked. We eat there all the time so this was unusual. I called to let him know the food was bad and he hung up on me as I was speaking. Ok, then! We won’t be back! That was just rude!

Got take out, for the prices the amount of food left some to be desired. I know it said rice was additional, but it really does not feel like just some chicken would be worth 17 dollars. Not incredibly flavorful, we probably won't return.
