Amazing wedding venue. Be sure to tour the telescope, too. The rooms are comfortable, but really it is the openness of the spaces and the sense of opulence of a bygone era that make it stand out.

Check-in: Oct 3, 20231. Finding the place was not the easiest even with Google. Local walker helped us find it.2. No cars in the front parking lot.3. Front door locked.4. Unsealed envelope with my name taped to door window. The envelope contained a letter with the code to get into the buildings. The code to check in. My room number and the code to get into the room were also in the letter. HORRIBLE SECURITY of information. (Same information was sent with email confirmation, but who reads the confirmation; just check to see that it is the correct location and date.)5. They are a "contactless" location, which means there is no one at the front desk or anywhere around. You can call a number if you have a problem. "Contactless" does not mean touchless, because everyone has to touch the door codes, the handles, and the kiosks; and there is no one around to clean them after each use - it means there is no staff around.6. Kiosk check-in worked okay once you got passed everything else. (Actually found out you really did not have to even check in, just make sure to check out.)Room: The room was clean and fine.Breakfast: The muffins were fine, otherwise it was store bought wrapped breakfast bars. The "ice" water was Nasty luke warm, some of the worst water I have ever tasted.Check-out: Oct 4, 2023 using the kiosk worked fine. The above is probably why there were only 3 cars in the parking lot all night, even though this was fall leaf color changing time.

We stayed here for a wedding weekend and it was so much fun! The double rooms had everything you needed if not a little basic. But the rest of the house was absolutely gorgeous.

I had a great stay at the Hartness House. The room was clean and uncluttered. The bar was decorated so nicely and the bartender was great. Coffee and pastries were set out in the morning. The restaurant wasn't open when we were there, but hopefully, it will be open next time.

Used Hartness House for recent family reunion, spacious, nicely decorated home. We all had a wonderful time and are planning the next

The room was beautiful. We only stayed one night. There was no fridge or coffee maker in the room but there were snacks and hot drinks down the hall in the main house. This was a beautifully done house and hotel rooms.

Hartness House is a beautiful 100-yr.-old home converted to an inn. An institutional compound has been built behind it where most of the rooms are located. My room was clean and quiet. It looked out over a beautiful garden vista. I'll never stay there again because: 1) There are no humans present. This doesn't sound terrible but I learned that having competent, welcoming human beings are important to feeling comfortable in a hotel/inn. 2) The system they use for check-ins is something called Lynx, which at one point informed me that I did not have a reservation, though I had already paid hundreds of dollars for one. Lynx also apparently controls security at the compound. 3) After a long day of driving and business meetings, when I arrived back at my room at 10:30pm, Lynx would not unlock the door. Four tries later, it worked. But with the knowledge that there was no one at a front desk (there is no front desk), no baggage handlers or maintenance or concierge on the premises, this was actually a scary experience. 4) "Check-in/check-out" involves a screen that one doesn't even encounter if one doesn't happen to enter the house, which requires a password. 5) If you enter the house to access the human-less table of muffins and coffee in the morning, there are Louis Armstrong records playing on a device in the lobby - the records are great, but in a deserted house it's eerie, kind of like a horror film. Seems like whoever owns the house took care to restore it and thought they should make some money off it, which is fine. Too bad they don't know enough or care enough about their customers' experience to actually staff the place. But I guess they're "disrupting the hospitality industry". Sigh.

My family of four stayed at the Hartness House during our roadtrip in July 2023. The fact that it is one of the most haunted places in Vermont is the main reason that we stayed. However, the history and beauty of the house are impressive. We got a private tour of the tunnels the night that we stayed. Nina was our tour guide and was great. She gave a lot of history of the house and the tunnels. I recommend the Hartness House to anyone.

Very deceiving, and the room we got in the back had no microwave, no refrigerator, no coffee maker, and no ice machine. They need to update their website to include a mention of the motel on back.

Excellent stay! The property is meticulously maintained. We loved the ease of check in and check out. The mansion is beautiful. We stayed in the adjoining hotel and loved that we could walk through and explore and sit in the mansion. There were snacks and waters thoughtfully left for guests. The instructions for check in and check out were not only provided multiple times prior to stay via email, but also left for us upon arrival to ensure ease of check in. We LOVED this gem and would definitely stay here again!

I was saddened to see another of piece Springfield's history has turned tawdry. I was under the impression that the inn had been purchased and completely redone. My room was in the hotel area and obviously had a fresh coat of paint, no mini frig, no coffee pot, and home made curtains....no style and the tub shower in bath had cracks and the lever on tub was corroded.... Not going back.

We stayed at the property as part of an onsite family celebration. This is definitely a destination hotel, and it is soaked with history and charm. We stayed in one of the modern rooms at the back of the hotel (versus staying in one of the suites in the main mansion). Clean, efficient, great mattress, excellent a/c, etc. Without a doubt, the absolute high point of our stay was being taken on a free guided tour of the hidden tunnels built under the mansion and visiting the telescope museum. The hotel manager, Nina, was a delight and did everything she could to make us welcome and comfortable. Overall, it was a nice stay but we wish the hotel had an onsite restaurant as it would have made enjoying the grandeur of the property even more special.
