We have been driving by this restaurant for years saying, "we should have dinner there sometime." My boyfriend was celebrating his birthday soon after, so we decided to stop in. Upon entering the parking lot, we should have picked up on the obvious, and gone somewhere else! It was dinner time, somewhere between 5 - 6 pm, so one would expect to see a few customers other than the two of us during our entire two hour stay. Sadighi greeted us with a warm smile and seated us immediately to the farthest table from the front door. His wife came out from the kitchen to say hello. Menus in hand, he proceeded to tell us his recommendations. We ordered wine and appetizers and chit chatted for a bit between ourselves. I noticed the spots on the glassware and the old worn tablecloth and napkins. We were sipping on our wine then realized we had been waiting there a while before the hors d'oeuvres were served. In the meantime, Sadighi came over to us and started sharing about the restaurant's history and that he and his wife have owned the restaurant for many years... Waiting now over half an hour, the hors d'oeuvres finally arrived; then within minutes as we were still chewing, our main course arrived. He said if we needed anything more, not to hesitate to ask. He then walked away, stood by the front door of the restaurant, and stared at us as we began eating. I assumed he was nervous and very eager to please us, standing at attention ready to run over if we called him. My boyfriend raised his hand to ask for a bottle of hot sauce. Sadighi came back with the sauce which was covered with a gunk of years old sticky kitchen grease and dust !!! We just stared at each other in shock that he didn't even wipe the bottle !! He must have bad eyesight not to have noticed this. My boyfriend chose not to say anything but wiped the bottle off himself with the cloth napkin, set it on the table refusing to open it, then wiped his hands on a second napkin. The sauce looked old and didn't even look good thru the bottle so he didn't use it.Our main meal was a cold steak, instant mashed potatoes, frozen and rubbery textured mixed veggies and a very sad looking salad. We had ordered the hors d'oeuvres BEFORE the meal and with the wine. They were nothing special and were obviously a frozen food product. (As they were served just a few minutes before the main meal), we felt rushed as we were still chewing seeing Sadighi and his wife walking towards us with our dinners in hand. We weren't finished yet but suddenly had to make room and move the appetizer platter and smaller plates for the main course. The cafeteria style flatware was old and worn. The dinner plates were thick with a dark brown band of color, whereas it would have been more appropriate to have purchased nice dinnerware considering the cost of the bill !!! The tables and chairs are of an older style too. Throughout the "dinner experience" (ha-ha), both Sadighi and his wife came over too many times, asking how our meal tasted. It would have been nice to have some music playing in the background as the quiet atmosphere was a tense. We were shocked but giggled between ourselves, not having the heart to complain to these sweet people. We ordered birthday cake too (of course we did!). This restaurant could be a charming little place to dine considering its location just off the freeway, on a busy street and across from a major shopping center in the heart of beautiful Bellingham.I often wonder how this business passes the health inspections and continues to remain open ? What does the kitchen look like behind the scenes ? I'm sure it needs a true deep cleaning and sanitizing from top to bottom to include the dining room and bathroom (nope folks, I didn't dare go in). Hope the Health Department sees this post and pops in for a surprise inspection!Never again will we go there and very sorry we did.Five years later, we still often joke about that filthy hot sauce bottle ...Yuk.

I bought crack cocaine out of the back door one time. Best crack i have ever smoked. The owner even threw in a free microwaved steak from Fred Meyer.

A Bellingham curiosity. We went on a whim for a couple shared plates and a bottle of wine, and left with a couple more questions but a reasonable impression. 1. We walked past cameras on the way in- probably how they knew we were coming. 2. We opened the door to a silent, empty entryway with a nice man (Mr Sadighi) sitting on a chair who then showed us to a table. 3. It reminded me of a home that wanted to become a restaurant...but the owner was friendly so far. 4. Big plus for me- an excellent 2013 bottle of WA Syrah was under $20. It's probably the best deal currently for quality wine I've seen in Bellingham. (I was sure it would be cooked or over aged, but it was incredible.) 5. When we ordered the spicy pasta and regular pasta, he had to go check the kitchen to see if they even had it available. Which was curious but typical, I hear. Don't be in a rush- he is sweet but it's a two person deal. I'm half certain he helps his wife or chef prepare the food. 6. I hate to say prego from a jar, but that's kind of what it tasted like. And the spicy pasta was a pasta with chili...like beans kind of chili. We should've known better than to order something we're particular about anyway. 7. There looks to potentially be a living or office space right above where we all eat, and I definitely enjoyed the mystery of wondering about it. 8. Overall, we headed home with some good wine and a few curious stories, but if we return, it will be more for the novelty, less for the cuisine. Sh

Wouldn't eat there again, but would tell you to go.

ABSOLUTELY horrible! French dip with 2 skinny peices of beef. Large bread. Warm salad. When I let them know they didn't even offer to make it right. Very expensive too. WHERE'S THE BEEF?

Building looks lovely, host was friendly. food was the worst i have ever had. Menu says dishes are served with fries. all our dishes were served with tots. After our awful food we went to another restaurant as the portions here were very very small. we looked up reviews over the last 10 years and every one had the same tots/fries complaint!

Creepy vibe. Seems like a front for some illegal activity. Always empty even with the stellar location. Do not recommend.

Serving staff was strange, and I can't figure out if the meals are fresh or nuked. I don't suggest it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I came to Sadighi's the same way anyone does, I thought it was a front and wanted to know the truth. I took two of my dear friends, we dressed in fine fabrics, we studied topics of literature and philosophy to add to the conversation. I was surprised to see another couple dining when we entered. The were silent. Their forks scraping against the china as they finished a plate of plain basmati rice, the steak was long gone. Their years of busy chatter were long gone. Mr. Sadighi himself brought us our menus. We ordered gin and tonics. I was flattered when he asked to see my I.D. We chatted of childhood friends and recent sexual encounters. The couple sat only a table away even though the restaurant was empty. They decided to look at the dessert menu, but insisted they would have to try the creme de menthe on their next visit. Mr. Sadighi thought we should eat something. He warned that one smoked salmon appetizer wouldn't be enough for the three of us, but the portion size was generous. We were provided with seven wheat thins topped with what must be fish. The ranch dipping sauce gave a brightness to the dish that left me wanting more. As we got further into our gin and tonics, we began to appreciate the warm atmosphere of the restaurant. A beautiful soundtrack played. Our conversation deepened. We hardly even noticed when the couple left. If you are looking for an intimate setting to share a meal, this is the perfect place. I was able to bend one of my partners over the table and serve him his punishment without any of the wait staff bothering us. It's rare to be given so much privacy now a days. I think Mr. Sadighi will be seeing much more of us.

As I gazed at the dessert menu, and after I took a good, hard look at my friends seated around me, I discovered that life really doesn't get better than this. Smoked salmon in my teeth, chips in my belly, I finally feel full. Tell me, do you remember what it was like getting fed as a baby? No one does; it's been too long. But in that moment, I understood what it means to be nourished. Nourished: past tense of nourish. (verb) 1. provide with the food or other substances necessary for growth, health, and good condition. 2. keep (a feeling or belief) in one's mind, typically for a long time. For a long time. I hope a tradition has begun tonight, in the dining room of Sadighi's. I appreciate how our waiter carried himself and our drinks to the table. It was careful, practiced. You may be wondering: why four stars? You seem to have had a wonderful experience, one which enriched you and your friendships. Ah! There is a catch, a catch in the arrangement of the lemon on my gin and tonic. I wish it were a lime. Beyond that, a wonderous time and I will be back soon.

DON'T GO!!!! One of the worst meals I've ever had Bellingham. Ordered my steak medium rare and it came out well done very thin maybe 6 ounces at the most but it supposed to be a 10 ounce ribeye steak. Absolutely no seasoning the vegetables and they were lifeless and way over cooked... not to mention the potatoes were leathery, had no taste and look like they had been held for days on the stove. If I could give this a zero rating I would have.

We ordered from website through Dash and they refused the order through their website.

I regret coming to this place. Me and my boyfriend and roommate wasted 55 dollars here on 2 extremely small proportions of "smoked salmon pasta" and appetizer. The oysters were obviously from a jar from a grocery store, and the pasta had hardly any fish in it. We left and ended up getting more food somewhere else cause we were still hungry. 6 oysters was 11 dollars and we couldn't finish them cause they tasted so bad. Not fresh at all. Don't waste your money here.

What a find! We saw the attractive exterior and decided to check it out. Conveniently located, attractive garden right next to the windows so diners are separated from the street noise. Mr. Sadhigi himself greeted us; a true gentleman; concerned with our comfort and appetite. The dining rooms are very attractive, linen covered tables not crowded together. Quiet music, comfy chairs, and immediate service...Mr. S. Brought us warm garlicky french bread, and water. The menu is varied and sumptuous. i ordered from the specials menu--the filet and garlic prawns, a small Caesar salad, steamed veggies--& it came with onion soup! Bob had a NY steak, pre ended by onion soup, with veg: square cut carrots, green beans and strips of fresh red sweet pepper.. And from his nice selection of wines , a WA Pinot Noir which as it turned out was extremely good. The steaks arrived cooked EXACTLY to our specifications--as Mr. S. Had spent some time Wiest us as to just how pink etc. I've been to many steak restaurants, but never before had my steak arrived exactly right. He's had some practice, as this sweeet place has been in business since the late 60's. When you need a quiet dinner with your love , Mr. Sadighi will do it perfectly. Tell him Carol sent you.
