Great food, as a restaurant, better than the one at Barkley road by the same owners, but the food is equally great.

We arrived early, they were just opening, so we were able to explore the different rooms of the restaurant, very cozy and very clean. The girl who served us was very friendly and the food was served quite quickly. I loved the stuffed chili and the sauce it came in, delicious. My husband really enjoyed his Menudo and my daughter, who is piqui, also ate everything and even stole the rice from my plate. Totally recommended

Staff was very friendly and attentive. Restaurant is clean and lovely decor. Chips and salsa great. My go to for a, new to me, Mexican restaurant is chili rellanos, These were good, far from the best. Batter was overly thick and tough, never needed a knife to cut through them before. May try tacos, if I go back again. Charming patio out back, looks like fun for a summer visit

The Real McCoy for Mexican food in B'ham. Quick friendly service. Reasonable prices in a comfortable atmosphere. Oh did I mention the food is delicious. I had the chicken Tostadas. Will be back for more. Arriba

The food here is always so delicious I always get so full I highly
I prefer the other Tecalitlan location. They are both owned by the same owner but the other one tastes better. I purposely came here to see if this location is similar to the other one. It is but slightly different. This one offers a nicer sit down area. There are plenty of free parking at the restaurant. I ordered the carne asada and B ordered the Lengua Tortas. Upon sitting down, we were offered complimentary chips and salsa. The chips and salsa were very delicious. You can taste that it is home made. The carne asada came with tortillas, rice and bean but I opted to have more rice instead. Overall, the food was good. Not a lot of places offer Lengua Tortas. Prices are quite reasonable. Service was good. I noticed a lot of people coming in and ordering or picking up food to go.

Clean, spiffy interior with a surprising amount of seating. The food is very affordably priced and tasty. Service was friendly and fast. I enjoyed a beef taco and a carnitas sopito and was reasonably full afterwards. I’ll definitely be returning.
I got the pollo asada and it didn't sit well in my stomach, went right thru me. I asked for no cheese but it was still added, they gave me an extra bowl of beans to make up for it.

For $6.99, I got a very reasonable burrito. And if you eat on-site, they give you big ketchup bottles filled with salsa! I’m a sauce person, so this makes me so happy. Two people eating out for around $16 is not manageable at many places, and it’s what usually you’d pay for ONE meal instead. You also get chips & salsa with your meal. Of course it isn’t the best food ever, but it’s still good, and we will come back here many more times because we appreciate affordable food. Plus, the restaurant is clean and the employees are always polite. The carne asada fries are also very good, so sometimes we’ll take an order home and air-fry it for our next meal. It air fries really well and is delicious!
Tecalitlan is such a gem! Awesome food with service to match. Family owned and they take pride in all aspects of their business, from the homemade hot sauce and horchata to the festively decorated interior (and immaculately clean). Cool little bar with several beers on tap. To top it off the prices are more than reasonable. I will always stop by when I’m up this way.

not much to say, nothing really noteworthy about it. food was fine, but there are better options close by. Prices were good, so was the service. Restaurant was very clean. The menu was kind of odd, but it wasn't really an issue.
