Amazing food. Their pan fried Seafood dumpling is just unspeakable. Unfortunately, they are remodeling and closed for 4/1-4-31.

Since discovering this restaurant in January, 2020, I have eaten here about eighteen times and gotten takeout food from here about thirty eight times. This is an extraordinary restaurant and the chef and her staff really know a lot about food that tastes good, and they serve it. I am not an expert, but I think this is food from the region of China around Shanghai. When one eats at the restaurant, one is served a tiny little “Barbie’s appetizer” of the sort that in many European restaurants is called a throat/ mouth/ tongue amusement or something similar, in any one of a dozen or more languages. This little dish containing three items is very entertaining and it says a lot about the restaurant: one is slightly sweet, one is slightly sour, and one is slightly piquant. Consume it slowly and thoughtfully. With most orders, you will be served a small dish with minced not pressed garlic in it, covered with a darker liquid than soy sauce. This is so-called black vinegar, and I really like it served this way. I had never had a “soup dumpling” before, and, truth be told, I am not sure that I could’ve envisioned their existence until they confronted me, but they are spectacular and delicious, especially the pork ones. Do not get these soup dumplings to carry out or be delivered. Wait for the pandemic to pass so that you can eat them just as they are served in the restaurant. Other dishes that I consider delicious to the point of having spectacular characteristics are the pork pancake rolls, beef pancake rolls, egg & chive pancake rolls, the hot and sour tofu hot pot (!), every kind of dumpling that they make, the pork wonton in spicy sichuan sauce, and today, to my great satisfaction, I was introduced to the Chinese sausage with a handmade noodle that they call vermicelli, but it is rather wide. I have not eaten much fried rice since I first ate Chinese food a very long time ago. I ordered fried rice here and it was wonderfully toothsome and delicious. The pancake rolls are difficult to eat, but they are so tasty that they can be forgiven. The app that they use for takeout orders is rather buggy, and I find I prefer to order in person and sit down and read a book while they prepare the food. The warm, alert, and friendly staff are liable to recognize you if you eat there more than once, even if you wear an elaborate mask. This detail quite took my breath away. A slight preponderance of the clientele appears to me to have Asian ancestry. At my house, we can usually make four to six “person-meals“ from three orders of food from here. Overall, my feeling about this restaurant is the feeling I would have if I found a bag of gold dust on a forest trail. July, 2020: A new special, off menu, written on construction paper on the wall is “salt and pepper shrimp.” This is very lightly batter-dipped shrimp, in its shell, fried with assorted peppers, red, green, black. It is delicious. Since my first visit in early 2020, I have continued to eat here 1 to 4 times a month. I strongly re-endorse my comments above.

Every time we're in the area, we end up back at Mama Dough. Everything we've tried has been good, and the owner and staff are so wonderful. Our favorite dish is the hand pulled noodles with chili oil - which we apparently eat too fast because I couldn't find any pictures of it. All the dumplings we've tried are great too.

Yikes! We ordered Mama Dough on Uber Eats to try something new. We love Bao and pork buns. This was some of the worst I’ve ever had. I don’t normally do bad reviews for businesses but this was terrible. The pork buns here were bland and not tasty. It just blatantly did not taste good and I typically love this food! The braised pork belly was covered in fat. Even the fried rice didn’t even look fried. It was all just bland and tasteless. The taste that was there tasted like cafeteria steamed buns. Nothing about this meal was enjoyable. We ordered the braised pork belly, pork buns, xiao buns, and chicken fried rice. Absolutely horrendous experience and I do NOT recommend this place. It was one of the worst meals I’ve had in a very long time. As a local Kent resident, I will 1000% be taking my business elsewhere.

Probably the worst service I’ve had in awhile! The guy middle aged server is very unprofessional and rude when we asked to move table because we felt it was very compact! He laughed at our face! I been to multiple dim sum and this by far is least favorite! The portions are little and food are bland! This place doesn’t live up to its hype! Won’t be coming here again! Mama Dough never disappoints! Great food, great prices, and lots of choices. Nothing on the menu felt out of place or forced. We had the pork xiao long bao, wonton soups (one with noodles, one without - different broths!), the house special chow mein, and the spicy eggplant dish. The xiao long bao are ALWAYS the winner. Best soup dumplings we've had in King County! The spicy eggplant is not super piquant, so don't worry. Give it a try! But definitely have something else with it as it's in a very rich sauce.Lovely staff, as well, who remember lots of the regulars. We'll be back. And then we'll be back again. And again.Kid-friendliness: They quickly pulled up high chairs for the three families we saw come in with kids. They have kids bowls & utensils as well, and if you have super picky kids, there are lots of simple dishes you can get - from a simple chow mein to plain white rice.

Not sure what happened to this place! Used to be our go to place. The last time we ordered take out was served with rudeness but if food is good, I can overlook service. However, service was good this time but not one thing we ordered tasted good. Beef roll - first taste was sour from bad food. Pan fried dumplings - even a 21 year old said its tasted bad with weird butter flavor (butter for Chinese food?), we each had one pc and did not touch it again. Beef chow mein - noodle used was not meant for the dish, cannot fool us Chinese. Soup dumplings - funky meat taste and smell, very regret ordering it, should have gone to Din Tai Fung.We have visited this place many times before, I'm very disappointed that the quality of food has gone downhill, $48 very not well spent, will not be back.

Context: was there January 12th.This honestly wasn't the initial place my group and I wanted to go, but what an experience! The star of the show is definitely the hand-pulled noodle dishes, but we tried so many things from dumplings to pancakes to more dumplings and more! The flavor of even a standard noodle dish was so divine, we were definitely beyond stuffed towards the end. I think my only critique would be to offer more dumplings that were not mixed with pork. I personally don't eat pork and wished there was a seafood dumbling or chicken dumpling for me to try.The staff was so nice and incredible and I'm glad they were matching our group's energy with more food being ordered. A true delight on a really cold night :)Dietary restrictions: Bring more options for people who don't eat pork.
