I have breakfast once a week with my son at the Lakewood Black Bear Diner. We have many, many restaurants to choose from in Lakewood and the greater Pierce County area and we choose the Black Bear. Three cheers to the manager Stacy, three cheers to her staff and a special cheer to Venessa our server. Keep up the super work. We won’t eat breakfast anywhere else. We recommend anything on the menu.

Black Bear Diner in Lakewood, Washington is an absolutely wonderful restaurant. The manager Stacy and her staff are absolutely amazing. Our server Venessa was superb and we always enjoy sitting in her section. Everyone is professional, friendly, and caring. The service was excellent as always and so was the food. The food was made specifically to order and it was done well. We come to the Black Bear weekly and would recommend it to anyone. Thank You Stacy and your entire staff!!!!Dietary restrictions: I have dietary restrictions and there are tons of choices at the Black Bear Diner, which I appreciate. My meal was excellent. The individuals who ate with me had no dietary restrictions and they communicated to me their food was excellent as well. Keep up the fantastic work.

Just went here and they were amazing! Our server Danielle was super friendly and very attentive. She was able to get my 3 year old (who is an incredibly picky eater) to actually get excited about eating eggs. I forgot to order gravy on the side and the manager fixed it for me without an extra charge. 10/10 will be coming here again

Got large chicken fried steak, hashbrowns n eggs plus two large biscuits. It was great eating it & definitely didn't go away hungry!
This is a Copy of what I wrote to Black Bear Diner Corporate:"Hello,on 04/17/2024, my daughter & I arrived at the Lakewood, WA location at 08:27PM. The host said she couldn’t seat us because they were closing early. I asked why & she said because they were slow & cleaners were coming in. I asked for a manger & Shelly appeared, repeating the same. I asked if she was a manager & she said, "No, but my manager, Stacey, called & said to close early." I told her we drove 15 miles from Gig Harbor & my daughter checked the hours before leaving. She said, “Sorry, but there’s nothing I can do.”Today, on 04/18/2024, I called Stacey &, conveyed my plight. She parroted what Shelly said, adding, “There was an accident & people couldn’t get here anyway.” I began to tell her we were able to get there and that there were two other cars in the parking lot, but she interrupted me saying, “Those were the cars of people already dining.” I again tried telling her there were folks in those cars & that I spoke with them & they also wanted to dine there. Then, she accused me of being rude for interrupting her. Finally, I asserted that it was her who had interrupted me. She then let me speak & I asked if she’d make it right. She said, “No, I’m not giving you a meal. I’ll give you a dessert.”Since we discovered Black Bear (circa 2 years ago) we’ve only eaten at Denny’s once or twice, as we really enjoyed Black Bear. Stacey, the [supposed] manager of the Lakewood, WA location is a blight to the food service industry & is in need of a reprimand. If someone of authority is willing to compensate us for our time & worse, embarrassment, I’d be receptive to such a consolation- otherwise, we’ll not patronize any Black Bear diners; furthermore, I’ll be compelled to espouse the debacle- far & wide…Thank you for your time & consideration."

The food is SOOO good! Homemade taste with large portions but not too much, my entire family was able to finish their plates. The pesto salmon was amazing, the green beans had bacon & onions, YUM!
We enjoyed Everything. We went swimming that morning so appetites were high lol Our hostess was polite kind & Very approachable, she recommended different dishes & her interactions were brief & helpful. The food came out fast, the atmosphere was family friendly. Price range for family of four with desert was under $100. Military Discount. We will definitely be back!Parking: Never had an issue getting a spot.
The cracker barrel of the west Coast, but without the nick-nack store at the front. Giant pancakes and breakfast all day.
