I love good ol' diner style restaurants like this. Reminds me of back east with a proliferation of them. Trying to get a feel for the brunch spots in the area I came on a Sunday Morning. Decent crowd but there were some empty booths. There is table, booth and counter seating as well as some outdoor seating, so even on a busy day I wouldn't expect too long of a wait. I was seated quickly dining just myself, bitter sweetness of the large menu hit me. So many tasty sounding options but can only choose one. I decided to take the suggestion of my hostess and opt for the Biscuits and gravy. It didn't turn out to be a good idea. To put it simply I've had far better Biscuits and Gravy. These biscuits were so dense, they may have been stale. Not at all light and fluffy. They had little in the way of taste and the gravy was just alright. Not too much flavor going on with it and some of the best gravy I've had with this dish had little bits of sausage in it. It's supposed to be sausage gravy after all. The eggs were ok, and the potatoes were potatoes, and plenty of them. I'd consider giving it another go here. The menu is huge and the service was decent, but this first go was a bust.

Went in tonight at 8:15 and was told they were closing and wouldn’t seat us. Hours are 8:00 am - 9:00 pm. Better call ahead to make sure they’re open if you want to eat here.

Very disappointing - my husband and I ordered scrambles and decaf coffee. Both were served cold! We wondered why we hadn't been served after placing our orders and waiting a long time? It was clear our plates had sat in the kitchen or somewhere and wasn't delivered to us in a timely manner. It was a weekday morning, not crowded at all; sorry too much money for poor service.

Blue Star Cafe & Pub is one of my old-reliable American breakfast spots in Seattle.I’m picky about breakfast food. If I had to pick a final meal it would be a good ol’ American breakfast. I’ve been to Blue Star many times and I’ve never been disappointed. The scrambles and omelets are great and are a nice big portion. You can’t go wrong when picking an egg dish, they’re all going to be good eggs. The Very Berry pancakes were a fantastic choice—they weren’t greasy, too thick, or too sweet. I think their french toast is also good, but I haven’t tried it.My expert recommendation is to switch out the toast for a biscuit or scone, you won’t regret it. Also the breakfast potatoes are can’t miss, some of the best in Seattle. As for the Bloody Mary’s—eh. Hate to say it, but I was expecting more. Don’t get me wrong, I order one every time, but it’s only because Seattle is lacking on the Bloody Mary scene and they’re my favorite drink. I find Blue Star’s lack depth and are a little too thin. I’ve tried the specialty ones and they’re better than the original.Nevertheless, if you’re hungover, need a place to meet your boyfriend’s dad, or are craving something that’ll make you proud to live in the US of A, Blue Star is a five star place to dine!

We went the Sat. before Easter and it was busier than normal, but we haven't been there in over a year. Service and food was ok, not as good in the past.

Service was ridiculous. 35 mins before our server came to our table! Very discouraging to watch tables that got seated after us, leave before we got our food. Too bad, as we enjoyed the vibe of the place and the food was decent, what you'd expect as you walk in. Maybe being in a different section, with a different server would have changed the experience.

I recommend you make a reservation. The place was packed with several people waiting, though there is plenty of sitting space. Service was amazing; fast, friendly, and attentive. Our food came out fast and was well cooked and served, with large portions and fresh. I ordered the French toast plate, and the French toast bread was a little crunchy, a little sour and citric, in a very good way.Their drinks are definitely something you don't want to skip. With a full service bar, you have the option of ordering the classics, but their signature cocktails and bloody mary are gold. You don't want to miss their breakfast shots. I had the cinnamon roll shot, and it was creamy, sweet, and delicious and big enough to sip.

A simple and traditional brunch spot with everything egg dish or sandwich you could want. This restuarant is huge and outdated. The food was just okay, nothing special, and a tad pricier than I'd expect. I've been told that this place is known for their house coffee. Perhaps this was an iconic place decades ago, it doesn't stand out to me compared to its neighboring coffee shops. Overall, it's a little run down and basic, but it's everything you need for a casual day of brunch. Reasons to come back: nostalgic decor and extra nice servers.

I've been going here for years and this place has really gone downhill. Brunch on the weekends is hit and miss. Getting decent service is like playing Russian roulette, and the restaurant seems to be getting dirtier and dirtier every time I go into this place. went in the other night at 7:30 and got a death look for walking in the door. I asked the disheveled bartender if they were still open and instead of responding she just asked me if I wanted a food menu. never asked if I wanted a drink or a glass of water or anything while her and her coworker chatted and ignored that I was there. I looked at the top of the menu and saw that they do indeed close at 8:00 p.m. based on the warm welcome I received, I knew it wasn't going to be a good experience so I left. (It's obvious they aren't trying to stay open any later in the future) I went in another time for brunch about a month ago. I was sitting in the bar and the bartender took a long time to even acknowledge me. It must of been about 20 minutes before I received the coffee I ordered, the server brought it out and it was filled with coffee grounds. The server put it in front of me and I mentioned the grounds the bartender said I know. And nothing else and started walking away. when I asked if she could replace it for me, she snapped at me and told me I needed to be patient. She then came back with a fresh cup for me. At the end of the day most of the staff looks unshowered and dirty whenever you visit. If they aren't keeping themselves clean, how do you expect them to have good practices when they are serving you? I'm done with this place and I'm bummed because it was a regular stop for me for years.

1st and foremost, the food is worth the drive. Best biscuits & jam in town and the cinnamon roll is worth the calories. Blueberry pancake and egg dishes won rave reviews from our out of town group. I tried the kitchen sink sandwich- oh yeah, I'll be back for that one---tasty!! Service is friendly, speedy and make the Blue Star a Seattle must.
