As my friend had just had serious spinal surgery, I stayed at the hospital by her side for a week. The food was surprisingly delicious, for the most part. The selection was good, and the service, from a patient perspective anyhow, was absolutely excellent. Ordering was easy on the hospital tablet, and service was always in a very reasonable time. Ordering as a guest, from inside the cafeteria however, was a bit unorganized and unclear as to how and where to begin and to whom do I even place an order. Maybe I'm just new to the cafeteria scene and I could've tried harder to figure it out. Either or, good hospital food, beyond my expectations indeed.

It's pretty good for a hospital cafeteria. It beats going out trying to find something quick in the surrounding area . The price is quite reasonable also.

When I was there it was Saint Patrick's Day and they had like corned beef and they had like the whole fixings for like a good Saint Patrick's Day meal. It was really quiet in the cafeteria and I think I really needed that as my mother was in surgery and was trying to find some kind of quiet.

A good, quiet place to go for a quick meal. It's a little tricky to get in so you might have to ask someone, but it's easy to get to if you are already in the building. We went on a Saturday at around 10:30, so they only had the deli sandwiches station open, but it seemed like they usually have hot foods during normal lunch periods. They also have premade food in the fridge case, and other snacks. The sandwich was fresh and very good, and we ate it in the attached sunroom. It's a good choice if you live nearby or are visiting someone in the hospital and want a bright, quiet place for a simple meal.

If you can find it!!Its a little pricey, but i eat here most work days (usually a few sides of vegetables) and it always seems really, really clean. If I was carnivorous I would eat a lot more of the meals! Needs more vegetarian versions of the main courses!Staff are very friendly. The atmosphere gets 5 stars for being peaceful!

Good selection of foods that are decent in quality. Prices are also not too bad. The daily lunch specials are even better in value.

Grab and go ham and swiss on marble rye sandwich and power protein fruit, cheese, hard boiled egg. Both were very tasty, filling and satisfying. Would buy again.

I when in with an allergic reaction explain that I had been having ever changing symptoms and the doctor just looked at my mouth and said I just have a canker sore. I went to Ballard's food bank and they gave me allergy medicine and cold medicine and my sore has gone away and so has the infliction of lockjaw and feeling as if my gums are splitting open not only did the doctors ignore my pain and not care but they would have let me stay in a situation where I would have suffered and that allergy that was not being cared for turning into a cold turning into something more serious we're sores we're starting to open because I was having such a bad allergic reaction I could barely talk

I came to UW Montlake's Emergency Department on Saturday, February 19, 2022 because of a very painful, stiff, swollen right knee. The MD who examined me refused to do the standard of care she said such presentations call for and refused to bring in an orthopedic surgeon to do the procedure. Four days later I was on the operating table at Virginia Mason, getting emergency knee surgery to keep me from potentially losing my knee joint (or even my life) to staph aureus. Had this physician at least taken a simple blood test, they would have seen an elevated white blood cell count and other inflammatory markers indicative of sepsis. But they were too incurious (or possible overconfident in their own diagnostic knowledge) to even do that simple thing. The surgery put my long-planned for trip to New York (to provide for my disabled wife) and cost me thousands of dollars in change fees, lost rent, extra wheelchair van expense and taxis around New York because I could not walk after the surgery. After getting a phone all from one of the doctor's supervisors apologizing and saying: "This was a miss on our side. And we are so sorry this happened to you. " She stated that the doctor who examined me apologized too. She stated "Other tests could have been done to rule infection in or out." She stated that while knee arthrocentesis is "within the skillset of an ED physician," because of the "risk for introducing infection through arthrocentesis", it was not their policy to perform those procedures in the ED. I countered with the fact that orthopedic providers perform arthrocentesis routinely, even in the undraped office setting, and that - in fact - a Virginia Mason orthopedic P.A. performed my arthrocentesis and gave me a Kenalog injection without incident in that very same sort of setting. And I reminded her that the doctor who examined me refused to call in an orthopedic surgeon and declined to order routine blood work. The blood work would have - within minutes of coming back from the lab - provided her with my high white blood cell count that can mean an infection is present. The supervisor then stated, "Yes. Other tools could have been employed to make the decision, and we will review all our procedures for future such presentations." She agreed ED Instructions should be revamped. She stated she "was sorry that I lost time and endured pain, which altered my planned activities." She said she would send me her notes from the call. But she never did. Someone must have "gotten to her" because a few days later, I got an unsigned email from someone in Patient Relations stating that the doctor would not be sending me her notes. It is all so Kafka-esque when unnamed functionaries become adversarial and take control of what should have been a collaborative process in trying to right their wrongs. I put in a claim for reimbursement of my out of pocket and for reasonable pain and suffering (my knee still hurts today, 60 days later) but was denied. And the claims department said there was "no appeal possible." So now a bureaucratic department is acting like the US Supreme Court in denying appeal for damages I allege their practitioners caused and which a supervising doctor admitted to. I would strongly recommend that if you or your loved ones have a choice you consider other health care options than the University of Washington

Unfortunately I can't speak to the quality of this cafeteria. I was too late for lunch by a couple of minutes and had to eat a prepackaged sandwich. The eating area was freezing.

Came here in an ambulance about 6 weeks after major abdominal surgery with extreme pain and out of control vomiting. Dr. Watsjold gave me IV drugs to control the pain and nausea and efficiently ran some labs and tests. I have literally never been so happy to get an IV before! He was able to diagnose the complication and send me home -- the whole process took about 4 hours. The only problem was that the 30 minutes between when I arrived in the ambulance and when they started giving me IV pain meds were the longest 30 minutes of my life. But in general the staff took good care of me during what was for sure the worst night of my life.
