I had high hopes for this place, but they were dashed. It's a sweet little shop that appears to be run by a husband and wife team in a great location. I know they've been there for a long time - I wonder if the food used to be really good? Their food seemed like a 40% version of what it could be. Rather than the delicate combination of flavors for which Middle Eastern food is known, they bash you over the head with an uninspired, thrown-together version you might expect from a young person just learning to cook. It seems their ingredients are the least expensive version of barely passable. We ordered a few things. First was the lamb schwarma salad. The lamb was oily, fatty and devoid of much flavor other than overpowering garlic and the gaminess that lamb naturally brings. Perhaps the intense garlic was from the sauce, I'm not sure. It also is schwarma-like rather than actual schwarma. While they have 2 of the traditional upright schwarma grilling machines, one was out of use and the other had gyro meat sitting on it, but it wasn't on (made me suspicious of the gyro too) The side of Hummus and Pita we ordered looked OK. It came with about a 1/4" puddle of unpleasant and strong tasting olive oil on top. I was glad to get a full olive in the middle and 2 thin slices of cucumber. Not sure how the hummus itself tasted because the oil on top was overpowering and unpleasant. The pita that came with the hummus and on which the chicken sandwich were served was fine. Again, it was the passable sort that comes from large scale food distribution companies. The chicken was the best protein. It had nice flavor and good texture, but was very dry - I wanted to improve it by adding hummus to the sandwich, but was put off by the olive oil. The chicken tasted like it was cooked much earlier in the day and just reheated as needed - perhaps this batch had been reheated multiple times already. The best part of the meal were the french fries, which were delightfully crisp on the outside and not overdone. Find another place for your Middle Eastern food fix unless this one is just too convenient and you have no idea how delicious this type of food can be. You certainly shouldn't go there thinking you'll be getting good service, good value or reasonable prices.

I love Hummus Cafe! I should probably branch out and try other menu items more often, but I can't pass up their eggplant sandwich. It's phenomenal. Grab some extra napkins and enjoy!

The sandwiches were great! You honestly can't go wrong with anything you order. The people were friendly. And the food was delivered quickly! We will be back

The food was delicious, my only negative is the smaller portion sizes for each item for the price in my opinion. The falafels were fresh and not dry. I have never had dolmas I have liked until here. Delicious hummus.

What a disappointment! Highly recommended skipping this place. Was not worth the long wait for food. The quality was extremely poor.

Didn’t get to eat. Came in off the road and needed to use the facilities before ordering. Would not give me the code to the bathroom. So I was going to order and get to it. Instead the woman took a lengthy call with an order. So I bailed l. I had to and went to the Mexican place down the street.

They overcharged the bill one item we did not order. And when I went to pay the bill showed a 20% added charge. she said its a 20% charge for dining in.

There's a reason I have been eating at Hummus Cafe for over a decade. It is delicious! It's a true mom & pop as it's owned by a husband and wife duo. They always remember me, and have watched me grow up over the years from high school to college and now adulthood, always greeting me with a smile. My favorite food here is a shawarma sandwich with lamb, but everything on the menu is good. You can tell it's made with love! And make sure to try the housemade limeade and baklava!

The food is absolutely delicious! And the family who runs the restaurant are so lovely. We look forward to going again very soon.

A two star to me is a place I won't go back to unless a friend wants to go. While the hibiscus tea was good, it was also the best part of the meal. The service was fiiiine, no availible water, no one checked back later. The lamb shawarma salad was small, mediocre, and my collective bill for a salad and tea was 26 dollars after credit service fee, tax and tip. There are MANY better and cheaper options in Seattle for Gyros.

First- I don't diddle in the middle, I only review if very dissapointed or amazed. To start with the positives, service was great, the fries were ok, humus was actually pretty good. However, the meze plate (Mix Grill on the menu) was not worth the money, was too dry with portions that even kids found lack luster; somehow the spanikopita was both underdone and overly dry, next to no feta, and not a sprig of dill that I could find; pita to dips ratio way way way off; fried-pickled eggplant was a roasted or maybe pan-fried slab of eggplant topped with some fairly bland tahini sauce, no discernible picking or frying; I know it was take-away but presentation was pretty bad. Overall grade 4/5 meh's
