This restaurant charged me and one of my friend 20% extra for charges fee. Its only two persons. I have never known any restaurant that charges "charges fee" unless you have 5+ more people. This place is a rip off.

Noodles were excellent- we had the cream of mushroom and kamo-nanban. Service left something to be desired- we got our beer after asking a couple of times and way after our food had arrived and the waiters were not apologetic whatsoever.

This is a very cozy soba restaurant that attempts the fine dining experience. It definitely stands out among the Seattle restaurants in terms of the food. The food is definitely very innovative and the staff provides really detailed explanations about the serving. My only reservation is that the food is not premium enough to be this expensive.

Cute hole in the wall in Fremont! I've driven by this Japanese restaurant multiple times over the year and finally decided to go here today. Definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time online, otherwise you can get seated at the bar for walk-ins. The bartender and our server, David, was great - very attentive and friendly! Also provided great food suggestions and knowledge of the menu. Entrees were around $25 each, and the appetizers were $15. They have an assortment of sakes (~ (11-$20) which were delicious. A cute date night spot.

Heard a lot about this place from friends so I had pretty high expectations. Happily, I think they were met.Asked the staff to suggest me the perfect meal and he told me the foie tofu, shungiku tempura, and the cream do black trumpet mushroom soba. The foie tofu wasn’t tofu at all, it was a foie mousse that was presented like a piece tofu. I ended up enjoying this more than I expected and will order this again whenever I’m in town. The shungiku was chrysanthemum leaf tempura with parm and a maggi Caesar. I loved this. Never thought of making tempura out of chrysanthemum but it was so nice. All the tiny leaves get coated in batter and become addictively crispy.Didn’t end up getting the mushroom soba, wasn’t feeling anything creamy. Got the duck soba because it had the places name in it. Soba was a perfect texture, sauce was great as well. Wasn’t too salty and I kept wanting more. After you’re done with the soba, they add broth into your sauce to make it into a soup that you sip on after.Service was great. After I finished my meal, I asked the server what recommendations he had for food and bars. He happily gave me a long list and I’m very thankful for that. Great vibes.Overall, great food and will be returning to have another foie “tofu” and other cool unique takes on tempura and soba!

Every time I visit Seattle, the first thing I do is book a table at Kamonegi. It's my favorite place and always always always is amazing! This time, we got the nagoya chicken, classic kamonegi soba, and the cream of mushroom soba. The chicken was PHENOMENAL. Flavour wise - I have never had anything like it !!! So so so delicious. The texture was perfect as well. 10/10 recommend. The classic kamonegi soba was tasty as usual. It will always be my favorite. The mushroom soba was good, although it was a little bit too sweet for my personal liking. I love the pork and ginger flavours in it though! But my favorite is still the kamonegi :)))

Food is delicious but overpriced; I had the kamonegi seiro which was a very small portion. Kabocha wings are delicious

Came here on a night where reservations were all booked out, but luckily was still able to get a seat at the bar! The kabocha “chicken wings” tempura as an appetizer was amazing. Crunchy exterior just like chicken wings with a savory glazing. Kabocha itself is naturally mildly sweet so the flavors combined well. I ordered the Shrimo Bisque Seiro special and was thoroughly pleased! The soup had great umami and the soba had a nice consistency to dip it in, I needed to gulp the whole bowl of soup afterwards from how amazing it was!

Kamonegi is one of my favorite places to go for a special meal! Such amazing food, always a unique experience. The waitstaff are always kind and attentive. I had the Fall Vegetable Curry Soba, and it was perfect for a cold Seattle evening. My only minor issue was that the windows in the back aren't sealed well and a cold breeze is noticeable if you're sitting next to them, but once the tea and soba arrive I barely noticed. Couldn't recommend more!

Highly recommend Kamonegi's soba and tempura! We ordered the coffee salmon tartare, matsutake black cod chawanmushi, eggplant tempura, uni shiso tempura, kamonegi seiro hot dipping-style soba, and hojicha panna cotta. Every dish was absolutely delicious. The kamonegi seiro broth was rich, and the soba noodles were perfectly cooked. Definitely coming back to explore their other soba dishes.

People have raved about this place over and over but I just don't understand the hype. It's wildly overpriced and there's a 20% service charge on top of those already steep prices. I'm happy to pay up for good food but the soba here was so average. Maybe the lack of soba in Seattle causes this one to be crowned the best, but if I'm being honest, I've made soba (not handmade) at home as a quick, simple meal and it tasted about the same. When we went, they recommended we get 2-3 small plates EACH and a soba meaning you'd walk out of the door paying over $60pp for just a bowl of noodles and some sides... I just did not think this soba was anything special and for such high prices, it is not worth it.

A fine example of a "chefs eat here" foodie recommendation if you're ever in Seattle is the soba restaurant, Kamonegi, located in the Fremont/Wallingford area. Everytime I post about this place, friends demand to know where it is.They make all their soba dipping noodles in house and have a seasonally rotating menu depending on what sort of ingredients and fresh produce are available at that time of the year.I love coming here even on my own and sitting at the kitchen's edge watching all the dishes get meticulously made. It's worth coming out of your way to try this place. All the staff are so courteous and polite here taking the time to explain the menu or share their recommendations. After you're done your meal, they give you sobayu, which is the water used to cook the noodles. It's reputed to be healthy and is meant to be added to the remaining dipping sauce so you can drink all the goodness up like a soup after your main meal is done. They even have blowfish sake, where its hot sake with a torched fin dunked in to impart a smoky, umami flavor. For my second visit here, I ordered the Cream of Morel Mushroom Soba, made with morel mushrooms, braised kurobuta pork, cream, garlic and ginger.
