$8/slice. Good cake, but not amazing. Deff much better than a regular grocery chain, but not so amazing that I'll come back. Cake was very heavy, dense and dry. Frosting was very creamy and rich.

Having been a long time customer of Simply Desserts, it was my first choice for ordering a 1/4 sheet cake for a birthday party. I called 3.5 weeks in advance and placed an order, it seemed simple enough and no additional info was either provided or required beyond payment and what to write on the cake. Fast forward to me picking up the cake on the day of the party. The person behind the counter opens it up and it looks really sad - plain off-white frosting, with one strawberry that has been quartered and each piece placed in the four corners of the cake. The writing was chocolate colored, off-center and written in a somewhat sloppy manner. I looked at the cake and asked if anything else could be done to make it more festive, given it was to be presented at a surprise birthday party. The person asked the baker and told me they could add a border of frosting around the cake, and it will be 10-15 minutes. I agreed, and waited. They added the border, which dressed the cake up a tiny bit but it still looked very plain and sad. But I was going to cut my losses and go. Then the counter person informs me that "usually we would charge for this additional decoration but we won't today as a courtesy". This is where I had to say something, and expressed my disappointment with the look of the cake and shared that I would have happily paid extra to decorate it if only someone told me at any point in the ordering process that that was an option. The person listened to me with an impassive face, and once I was done, proceeded as if I said nothing, told me to leave the cake out for 2 hours and to have a nice day. That's it. There was no "hey, sorry about that, that's on us, we will make sure to do a better job informing customers next time" or "hey, we hear you, we will do better next time." Nothing. And for that lack of customer service, I will no longer be supporting this establishment and will be ordering any celebration cakes at Deep Sea Sugar & Salt instead.

Simply Desserts has been our go-to cake provider for over eight years, but after a recent visit, we are deeply disappointed. Our experience this past Sunday was marred by appalling customer service. Despite the delicious cakes, the encounter left a bitter taste in our mouths. Upon entering with friends and family to continue our birthday celebrations, we were met with unwelcoming restrictions. Despite signage indicating otherwise, the employee insisted on limiting us to two slices of cake per party. This arbitrary rule made no sense, especially considering each person was entitled to two items as per the posted notice. The employee's assumption that we were paying together added insult to injury. Despite our clear explanation, she persisted in enforcing the nonsensical two-slice limit per party. It was both embarrassing and frustrating to be treated in such a condescending manner. Furthermore, the excuse of fearing running out of cake was unfounded and perplexing. As loyal customers, we would expect the business to be thrilled at the prospect of selling out, a sign of their success. However, the display case only boasted two whole cakes, further highlighting the inconsistency of their reasoning. Overall, this experience tarnished what should have been a joyous occasion. Despite the tempting treats, we cannot overlook the disrespectful treatment we received. Sadly, we will not be returning to Simply Desserts after this regrettable encounter.

Update: now credit card only! A lot of recent reviews here bemoan the fact that it’s seemingly not the same ‘old’ recipe with the new owners. I agree it’s different. The strawberry white chocolate frosting used to be firmer and richer from what I remember. That cake was maybe my favorite cake ever. RIP. The new one has lighter frosting and is still very good though IMO. Also had the chocolate white chocolate which was terrific. $8 a slice ain’t cheap but Deep Sea is $11 a slice (granted they’re bigger) and I prefer Simply Desserts. Different but still great ??

Updated to add that I just tried the Caramel Latte cake, one of their specialty cakes, and it is delicious! I usually stick with my faves (strawberry vanilla, orange pumpkin) but decided to try something new and it did not disappoint. They also take credit cards now which is convenient.

Used to be good couple of years ago and was my favorite cake bakery in Seattle since I first tried it in 2020. I my favorite (chocolate raspberry cake) again recently and was was super disappointed. It was probably one of the worst cake I have ever had. So dry, too sweet and not as I remember it at all..way less raspberry :(. I guess the new management affected the taste and quality..if anyone has any favorite cake bakeries I'd love some recommendations!

We got a slice of the birthday cake and ube pandan.I was expecting a slightly larger slice for $8, but inflation, I guess. Sigh. The birthday cake was perfect, I’d say. It was delicious to everyone who tasted it. Unfortunately, the ube pandan was just way too sweet and lacked a depth of flavor. I wouldn’t recommend that one.

It's still a dessert place but it's not as it was. Service is fantastic, nice people, but the cakes are drier than they used to be, and the frosting is thinner than before. It's good, but not the same.

I got a slice of fudge cake and it was like a tiny sliver for 8 bucks. I came years ago and you got a hefty slice but that it was very disappointing to see a tiny slice, otherwise it was good.

Had a slice of the "Strawberry White Chocolate Cake", which is one of their popular flavors. It tasted nice overall. The cake wasn't overly sweet, strawberries were fresh. The frosting could have been lighter. Overall a nice grab if you're in the area.

Like my grandma made!!I have never run across a bakery that used real ingredients and put in the time to make real food, such a delight.

The strawberry cake is especially good, moist and perfectly dense. The white chocolate bits and fresh strawberries are such a good balance. Going to have one of these cakes at my wedding, so tasty!

Delicious cake, but horrible presentation in ugly paper plates in a soulless space. Better order to go, as this is not an inviting cafe to spend any time in! 'Cash only' sale is quite inconvenient.
