Skål Beer Hall provides the atmosphere it markets: a Nordic, viking-esque aura mixed with the chill vibe of a bar. The decorations, wooden architecture, and dim lighting invokes a feeling of relaxation after a long day of hunting.Food at Skål was decent -- there is little variety, but certainly a few unique dishes to try. Specifically the venison and pork belly skewers are a must. It took just one bite to taste the abundance of flavor.Drink choices are solid as well; the blonde ale I had tasted fine. Prices are a little high, but in line with Ballard expectations. One unique note are the various Viking-themed board games available to play. There is a large collection to select from, and provide great entertainment for a party intending on drinking and chatting out into the night.Overall, I recommend Skål Beer Hall as a great place for gathering in general, and even more so for (Nordic)themed ones.

While the drinks and food are good, this place could be better. Walked in when they were slightly busy (some tables filled, some empty) and received no acknowledgement from either staff in the open kitchen (they're some of the first to be seen walking in the door) or host. Waited long enough to consider walking out when the host finally recognized the line starting to form coming in the door (a couple parties arrived after me). Ended up getting seated and then proceeded to wait again to order. About the time I thought of just leaving, a server finally appeared to take drink orders and then food a bit later. She was great! Attentive and informative (I had questions about some of the menu items). Ultimately, this place could benefit from a host who is less discombobulated (stoned?) and spacing seating out a bit more (I get the maximizing seating and thus customers and profits, but feeling like the folks next to me were invading my space and conversation was majorly off-putting).

Beer halls in WA are usually a safe bet; this is an exception and takes advantage of that assumption. When we visited, half of their limited menu was unavailable, our pretzel was small, hard, and stale, the portions were tiny and uninspired, and the prices were far beyond reason. If you're looking for beer there are plenty of better options nearby and plenty of better beer gardens in neighboring buroughs.

Decent stout on tap. Only had a few appetizers, but the pretzel was microwaved and rubbery so much that we were only able to eat about half before it could no longer be ripped apart. The cod pieces were lightly breaded and not greasy. Interesting decor and Nordic events playing on the TV screens.

I loved Skål! We will be going back to have a full meal, but we got drinks and appetizers this time. We got the Pretzel with whole grain mustard, which was as tasty as you would expect and the Popcorn Cod, which was surprisingly tasty and unique. It was very very citrus-y which I liked and it was light fluffy little pieces. The curry ketchup that it came with was really great with the cod and also surprisingly very delicious. The fries were also seasoned well and yummy!! We also got mead. There were so many options!! The atmosphere is very cool, just like a Nordic viking meadhall/tavern!!

Arrived right at open and was turned away by someone wearing headphones. She said they were not open. I asked to confirm because google said they opened at 11:30 am. She said "yeah no we're not open" and put her headphones back in. Didn't try to tell us when they actually would be open for service. It was so rude I was honestly shocked. From someone who works in service this is not how to treat any human, especially a potential customer.
