This place was a blast for our 5 & 7 year old grandsons especially for a rainy day and to blow off steam. This is not the traditional “museum” but more of a play zone with activities that are physical, (climbing and crawling in the coolest play structures I’ve ever seen) and creative, (playing with water and air streams). It was crowded but everyone got along. Wonderful place!

Kids played here for hours, we left for lunch and came back for a couple more hours. They loved it. Friendly staff, they keep things taken care of and clean. It was just the right size that kids never got bored and I was able to keep an eye on all of them when they were in different areas. It is free, but you can make a donation. What a great thing to have! We were able to walk, but if you drive there is a parking lot right there and I think it's pay to park.

Today was our first time visiting this place and we are already talking about the next time we will come back! The donation system for entry makes it accessible to all families who are able to get there, which is so important for equity in children’s development. Our child loved the water table area the most so I was glad I had remembered to pack an extra outfit for after playing was done. Definitely recommend coming early when they open to get out energy prior to nap time.

This is a great indoor play & discovery place for little kids. Lockers available & deli. Painting ,reading, building, scarf vacuum, indoor water play area, with apron & towels available for use.

They said no strollers so we carried our children from a few streets down, only to find tons of strollers inside and felt pretty dumb for following the rules that disreguarding like so many others would have made the whole experience easier. Parking in that whole area is terrible FYI. Everything inside was great for the kids, they loved it and didn't want to leave.

Nice place for the cold and rainy months. Smaller then I expected, but staff is friendly and helpful.. clean spaces.. still waiting for the rain to stop to explore outside

This place is amazing! Very toddler friendly! Lots of activities for bigger kids and the little ones. So many things to climb and grab and explore. Lots of fun arts and crafts projects too. There was nothing that was off limits to the kids and that’s exactly what we needed! My 16 month old LOVED the water table and the marker station. To note:Parking sucks, but we found street parking a few blocks up.Entrance fee is by donation, but you can pay with a card.Women’s restroom had a changing station in the accessible stall.

Great place to take kids under 5! Though it’s a small museum, there is a TON to do: climbing structures, water tables, arts & crafts, reading nooks, etc. It’s also “pay what you will,” which is great for families of all budgets. Just a head’s up, it gets VERY crowded on weekends. You also have to pay to park in their lot (about $8), but we usually find free street parking on Sundays with no problem. Older kids can be a bit rough with smaller kids, so be prepared to keep a close eye on your little ones. Overall, this is one of our kids’ favorite play places!

Small, but cute museum. I'm not sure if it worth the drive solo, but we also stopped by TinkerTopia which is in the same street and that made the trip better. The museum is small, lots of places to climb. The art studio is mediocre at best.

What a fun find! They're the only children's museum that is donation only. Very helpful for families that can't always afford $25 day passes. It was a rainy day and other parents had the same idea. It was a blast and we will Def be going again. They even had staff on hand to show the kids how to do crafts and there's a water area and a tree house area and other cool finds inside.

My toddler had a blast playing at the water play area. Such a great museum and it's by donation. We will be back next time we're in Tacoma.

This place is amazing for the little ones. I still don't understand the new addition "DNA stand" kids have gotten more hurt on that than the open space they had to run. They should be open all weekend for those parents who also work on Saturdays. Needs more staff. Always short handed. I try to bring my kids a few times a week if possible. It's free they just ask for donations so we always give 20$ to help

My 16 month old loves this place! I love how it's donation based so all families can join in on the fun.

Very popular. My daughter loves the water table. Waterproof aprons are provided. There's something for everyone. Climbing for the older kids, the ship's underbelly for the little ones. Art and building toys. Air chutes. There's a quiet place to read if the main area is too loud for your kiddo. They do have low sensory hours if you need that. The museum is VERY loud during regular time, just to be aware.

We went 2 days ago for the 1st Time. This place has cool things to let kids be kids. I really love children's museums. I may love them more than my 4-year-old godson. I just really appreciate places that are dedicated to giving kids a hands-on learning experience through play. I liked the simplicity of the water play area. Our first stop was the water area. My godson played there at least 30 minutes straight. They had lots of Green Toys to play with. They also had squirt toys. This area was packed and there were more kids than aprons. It stayed pretty packed the entire time we were at the museum. The Voyager exhibit area was perfect for getting energy out!Definitely worth a visit. I liked the PAY AS YOU CAN entry. You only pay what you can. Lockers are available for storing stuff. I would recommend this place to children 5 and under it will keep them busy for y'all hours.
