Red Lions are usually really nice. This one isn’t. My bad for not looking closer at reviews and photos before booking but this is a super sketchy place, I didn’t feel comfortable staying here especially with my young kids. We could have stuck it out for the night but the TV didn’t even work on top of that. No remote and no way to turn it off, change the channel and adjust volume. And our room connects to another room, the doors open up to each other and everything. So creepy.Safety: Saw people using drugs in the parking lot and heard our room neighbors arguing very loudly.

The place looks grande from the outside but it's real bland on the inside it needs a lot of work and upkeep in our bathroom at least we have mold growing out of the ceiling and all the walls around the surrounding we have a bottom room and it has a balcony room / whatever I guess it is a back area with a sliding door that we can get to but it's kind of I think it needs to be updated in a better lock and I better security lock even and the area is kind of sketchy withRooms: The rooms are okay yeah they're just okay in our bathroom I see black mold all around the walls around the bathroom so it's kind of crazy and the whole hotel looks like it needs a whole new renovation and got it and repainted and fixed up but it's a quiet quiet place but it's also in a real sketchy place and if he plays really if you can be safe or not or have your children out and about or staying with you and having to worry about all that but I don't know just about any motels that you go to anywhere in the United States I'm sure you're going to have some worries about something like that homeless peopleNearby activities: There is none that I know of and I didn't really look for anySafety: Again homeless and sketchy peopleWalkability: Yeah you can walkFood & drinks: Their is a small close by verity of food places

This motel definitely needs freshening up. It's clean enough, just tired.

I will not insult motel 6 by comparing this to a motel 6. This place is FAR WORSE than any motel 6 or than any hotel, or motel I have ever stayed at. The rooms are DISGUSTING. Where to start.-Mold in the bathroom-knob falls off of shower handle-bed had stab wound in it-room smells horrible, like old smoke and maybe like it had been rented by the hour on a regular basis.-Not enough towels for everyone to have even 1 shower-No housekeeping-asked for extra blankets for 2 days including on arrival, and next morning, and finally was delivered 4 what appear to be curtains instead of blankets when I complained a 3rd time.-No soap,-only had decaf coffee in room-long hairs in bed-thin walls-had to tape the curtains shut to get privacy-did I mention filthy?-run down, poor maintenance-This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed at.-inadequate parking-on 2nd floor with no elevators-homeless surounding the place like the walking dead-Screaming and yelling outside room all night long-extreme feeling of being unsafe

Rooms were so dirty, mold in the bathrooms, desk was about to fall apart. Power strip was on the dresser as you can tell so dirty. Hair in our bed also.

It’s the center of Yakima and it is rather large with two pools but it is old. No gym. The walls were so thin I could hear line for line on the tv shows next door. The rooms are DARK. Just two small desk lamps (mine was also burnt out).If you’re taking a shower and someone nine rooms away uses the toilet, you will know. The key readers simply don’t work. There aren’t really services to speak of other than signs everywhere saying services had been discontinued. If you have to stay in Yakima, sure. Maybe. If everything else is booked.

We came to attend testing at the convention center, so the location was perfect because….right across the parking lot. The room was clean and comfortable. Yes, no spiffs right now. The restaurant is closed, probably has fallen victim to Covid. However the people were friendly, beds comfortable, pools clean, common areas clean, etc. don’t overlook this nice affordable hotel just because of a lack of other amenities. There are options for dining near by.

Oh dear. This property is right next door to the Yakima Convention Center and in the heart of downtown, close to most of what little that has to offer. That's about the best that can be written about it. When you arrive, despite the clear age of the property (it looks like it was designed by the Dad in the Brady Bunch circa 1970) the lobby is deceptively plush and well appointed. The staff are friendly enough, but it's all a bit of a veneer. The first thing to note is that the property is spread over several buildings, all of which are on two floors. Yet the main building where you check in is the only one with an elevator. It's thus very important that if you have any mobility issues and stairs are not accessible for you, make sure you are in the main building. Some of the buildings are a long way from the lobby and once you are in them, having negotiated the stairs, you will still be walking long corridors to your room. The rooms are where things get dicey. Superficially they look tired and old, but this hides a grubbiness and general lack of maintainence that makes the stay depressing, despite the rates being lower than most of the nearby competition. Bedding is old, worn, tired. It may be cleaned, but it doesn't feel or look fresh. Carpets aren't worn, but they are stained and sticky. The furniture is battered and worn. The drapes are old and falling off the rails. Each room has a balcony. If you are not facing the pool area, then you're facing the parking lots and those balconies are filthy and neglected. The pigeon mess covers everything. There is aircon/heating and it does work, but it's noisy as hell. There is a fridge and microwave, but the fridge freezes everything and cannot be adjusted. There are no shelves in the fridge. There is a huge flat screen TV, but no channels such as ESPN or HBO or anything other than standard free to air TV. WIFI is reliable while you're logged in, but you are logged out every time you idle. You can be logging back in 20 times a day. Any time you leave the room, or just idle. Bathrooms are old. The sink and tub is scratched, worn, chipped, grubby. The plugs don't hold water. The water pressure is good and the hot water is hot, but the faucets are old and hard to adjust. The toilet flush was broken and the toilet water kept running. Towels are tired and only superficially clean. Stains are plentiful. There is soap and shampoo provided, but there is no housekeeping at all, so if you run out, you need to go in search of the maid cart. There was an iron provided, but no ironing board. There is a lot of noise from room to room and from the corridors. The pool area is fairly well maintained, but the water looked cloudy. A lot of guests were using it, so it may be OK. Breakfast is provided for an additional $10 per person on Saturday and Sunday morning. It's not worth it. Some cereals, some hot items. Coffee, juices, pastries. No healthy items at all. There was a mass of yellow rubber that turned out to be scrambled eggs, plus some burnt offerings that tasted a bit like bacon. Potatoes were also provided. During the week, there's no breakfast at all. Coffee is available in the lobby. There was a coffee maker in the room, but no coffee provided. The rates are a little lower than the competition in on the same street, but the quality is a LOT lower. It's a substandard property that needs a deep clean and a major renovation. Shame.

Blah hotel. Shameful example of a Red Lion. Dingy, in serious need of updating and basic maintenance. We were very disappointed and found a new hotel after the first night. I expected more from Red Lion.

Room was all the way in some alley, not attached to the hotel. There was an empty cabinet where the refrigerator was supposed to be. The sprinkler and fire alarm were taken off. Yes the hotel is next to the convention center. Don't be fooled though, they can put you so far away from the convention center that you still have to take your car to get there. There are nicer hotels just right across the street. They are same distance.

UPDATE:I am updating my rating to 3 stars (up from 1) on the service because the manager, Maria, called me tonight and is getting me my item asap. She was extremely helpful and I’m grateful she followed up with me!—Disorganized customer service, unfortunately. I’ve been trying to get back an item I left there for weeks now, but it’s taken about 5 calls with 5 different staff, and I still have no clue if and when they’ll get it back to me. It’s equipment I need for work, and I was called back only once on the fourth attempt at getting it— at which point I was notified that it was at the front desk ready to send. The staff kept taking down my name and number and saying they’d call when they were at the post office. But it’s been radio silence for days since that last call. I’m pretty disappointed with the whole situation, even if the representatives have been kind over the phone.

The “Lion” has passed away! My wife and I were in Yakima to visit our kids and grandchildren. We had previously stayed at Red Lion hotels in Seattle and Portland, Or and, we knew that if we picked a Red Lion to stay at for a week in Yakima, Wa, the experience should be the same. Not only were we mistaken about the experience, but it became evident that the entire hotel chain could be in question. The Yakima Center Red Lion has seen better days. It’s old and has not been kept up to date. The room we had was spacious, but not very clean. We noted human hair on the wall in the bedroom shower, and numerous food stains on a wall near the bed. The restaurant was permanently closed without mention on the website (an on-site restaurant was one reason I wanted to book our stay), the walking areas, outside the lobby, were dirty and needed to be swept, and the room’s amenities - air conditioning and TV left a lot to be desired in terms working condition and operability. The front desk staff was pleasant and helpful, as well as professional. That alone helped us sustain the week long stay without checking out and going to another hotel. As I stated in the beginning of this review, the “Lion” has passed away.
