Bad experience all around here when I went in for take out. Not to mention the tiny chunks of tin foil in my chicken tenders...

Best bar food in the county. Two thumbs way up. A quick story... I stumbled into this glorious place many moons ago, and I greatly enjoyed my visit. Unfortunately through the magic of time I forgot about it - the name, location, everything. The one thing I remembered though is the food was great. As luck would have it, roughly 3 years later, I'm out working in the area and stumbled in. The food was just as good (if not better), and I'm leaving a review so I don't forget it again.

I like to eat in relatively unknown places, with high ratings and good reviews. To me, Cabbage Heads is that type of a place, existing quietly in between the cities of the Midwest. Although probably well known in its community. And I don't mind people stopping their conversation as I walk in either, even though I'm not lost. I enjoyed the soup of the day which came with my meal. I got the fried perch dinner. I've been perching on Lake Michigan before and I've used corn meal or flour, they use corn meal here which is fine because it adds a little crunch which I like and that crunch, well it reminds me thin crust pizza. Sorry (not really) for the run on sentences, I'm trying to conjure the ire of our English majors. Back to the food, can you believe that they serve a blue gill dinner!! I'd have to fish all day to get enough pan fish for a dinner or two. They order theirs from a fish farm close by. FYI, the steak sandwich was decent and cheese curds were superb and generous. Of course, they serve New Glarus (Spotted Cow on tap) here. Plenty of pahking in the private lot. Tell them Go Bears and Bear down and that Gerry T sent you as you walk in!! I may have to come back for the Blue Gills, Sun Fish, Black Crappie dinners, hope they have that too.

Often times at these Wisconsin dive-bar-esque haunts you are not likely to find a veggie burger. I was super excited to see I could get a mushroom-portabella burger here! It's greasy and exactly what you need when you're eating bar food. The inside is super cozy and really has small-town Wisco vibes. You will probably feel a bit out of place if you are not a local (we sure did) but you'll settle in nevertheless. The cutest couple own the place. The cheese curds are solid (wayyyy better than what you'd find at Culvers). It's a little off the beaten path, but was a fun place to stop. Also, there is a photo of a baby with cabbage on its head in the bathroom. Right on brand.

Local watering hole, so called "townie bar" with fair prices on tap. The food is standard pub fare, though the soup/chili is the standout if I had to pick. Don't come in here looking for a modern vibe, but the patio area outside is nice to just enjoy a beer with your buddies as you're passing through.

This is the best off the beaten path Tavern you can find when you feel the need for some awesome curds and food. I ordered the curds, tots, chips, brat burger and inferno tenders. The tenders came plain, I think, because they were put in as an app, but oh well. Those tenders were GOOD! In fact, everything here was top notch. The food was simply stellar. The people were super friendly and you could tell the place is full of a local crowd. Everyone knows everyone, but doesn't mind the stranger who walks in. From the parking lot there are 4 doors. None of them say entrance. We chose the one with the Yelp sticker. That door takes you to the tiny bar side, and it's super cozy and nice. The far left door takes you to the dining room/bar side. That door has a big lamp on it so maybe that means "enter". Either way, you get in and get to experience this awesome tiny tavern. Don't be put off by the hole-in-the-wall outward appearance. This place is all class! You know it's a good place when the TV is showing food network and the server/bartender/owner is watching it along with everyone else. It feels like you are in someones home and eating their food. I have no complaints about Cabbage Heads, only that it isn't close to my normal drive through Wisconsin. I expect to make the trip again, though, and I hope you do too!

Didn't get a chance to eat. Came with family of 8 (all adults) and bartender told us right away we needed to sit in the back room. Didn't come to take out order so we decided to go to Tailgators. Tailgaters food and service was awesome. Like to support local but not this place ever again.

Called in a carry out order for fish. Was told none of the fish had bones but unfortunately the bluegill had some bones. It also surprisingly tasted fishy. The chips were very good though along with the coleslaw. Love supporting local businesses and might try the cod next time.

Stopped by again as it's been a while and it was a good choice for lunch on a Saturday. We both got burgers and had tots and the jalapeño poppers as our sides. Server/bartender was friendly and checked in without crowding us. We were able to hang out and catch up without feeling rushed. Definitely would come back!

Great little bar and grill in Franksville. Had the 4 meat porker pizza and it was super yummy! If u like thin crust, this was a little bit thicker but very good. For a little bar/ restaurant the menu was surprisingly big with lots of choices. Prices for drinks and food were VERY reasonable. Will definitely be making this a go to spot as I want to support local businesses as much as possible!
