Absolutely beautiful, a must see! I've never liked Old Fashions, but these were very tasty. The restaurant is like a Coleman or Pendleton catalog, the views breathtaking. We enjoyed both the outside bar, band, and beach front bar. The food was yummy goodness, a little more expensive than we typically spend but the atmosphere makes it worth it. Great place for all ages to enjoy, the kids really liked the beach and pier. Cute gift shop. So glad to have found this gem and start a new family tradition.

great place but very disappointed to find out they dont allow the wisconsin law that allows minors to drink alcohol if gaven to by a parent they refused to even give my son a Mocktail because "trace alcohol is inside" or a literal NON ALCOHOL heineiken because i quote "has trace amounts of alcohol" every bar in Wisconsin allows this rule and its 100% legal not a gray area at all its been the law in wisconsin for a very long time besides that great place

This is my second meal at Ishnala and it was superb! I had the scallops with vegetables as a side. The cheese spread was excellent although the cracker assortment left a little to be desired. There was a storm the night I went, so was unable to stroll the grounds, but watching the storm made up for it. Get a table by the window if possible. And don’t pass up the (bourbon) Old Fashioned cocktail—it’s the best I’ve ever had. I also purchased a bottle of the Old Fashioned mix to go. Can’t wait to give it to my husband!

They have plenty of staff and pay them well, a secret that seems to be lost on so many these days...The Atmosphere is a 3 because of all the boomers who go there in cargo shorts and tee shirts...Why did they jettison semi-formal culture for nice outings? We'll never know. It's no fault of the restaurant, except that they never enforced a dress code to keep up the standards.
I live in Colorado, but grew up in Wisconsin -- and we visit my family and friends once or twice a year in Wisconsin. My wife (who grew up in Texas), son, and I all love visiting the Wisconsin Dells area (we get a 2-bedroom suite at Wilderness on the Lake and stay with my father). We have done so each of our past 2 trips to Wisconsin in October 2022 and October 2023. This last time my dad treated us to Ishnala for my birthday (it was the last week before the closed for the season).We got to sit by the window and the colors were beautiful. Before dinner, we spent about 45 minutes at one of the many bars -- now, although I am originally from Wisconsin, I never was a fan of an Old-fashioned drink ... UNTIL NOW! My wife and I LOVED the Brandy Old-fashioned Sweet -- between the two of us, we had 3 (and that is saying something since my wife normally has a glass of wine with dinner -- if anything -- and I just have a couple sips of her wine).The food was also great. The Sunset Shrimp Cocktail was absolutely heavenly -- I would say it is without a doubt our favorite appetizer ever (we shared one, but next time we will both get our own as were practically licking the martini glass it came in at the end of it). The filet was very tender and tasty, and the Fried Shrimp was excellent (almost as good as Mariner's in Madison -- my favorite shrimp for over 50 years). Yes, it is expensive ($100 bar bill that we paid for and $350 meal for 5 that included a 25% tip), but this is not just a meal, it is an experience you will fondly remember.
