Had breakfast. Place was pretty empty, got seated right away and served quickly. My gf got an omelette that she really enjoyed- I went for “the bootlegger” which is a giant 8 inch tall, 5 inch wide biscuit sandwich with eggs, cheese, and crispy fried chicken strips inside, doused in a very healthy helping of hot, fresh, and slightly spicy sausage gravy, all on a bed of potato slices; it was top notch and more than I could finish. $35 for two people and coffees plus tip, very fair considering the quality and service. We’ll be back.

We had high hopes for The Getaway as we new it was the same owners as Mars Resort. The food was good, and the waitress was great in the beginning. However our experience went from a 10 to a 0 once our bill was handed to us. The waitress asked if we wanted dessert, which we did not because our dinner portions were large. Upon bringing our bill. We were told there was a reservation waiting for our table and to keep that in mind as we finish up. This was by far the worst comment that could have been made to make my family feel NOT welcomed. We in had a reservation for our table and did not even order dessert. By no means did we over stay our welcome as the comment came when the check given to us. On our way out I did not notice anyone by the hostess and told her what our waitress had said. She smiled and said oh, well was your dinner good though as she thought it was funny. Wouldn’t recommend this place ti anyone unless they had a friendlier staff.

This place was fabulous. We had a great view of the lake and our server was friendly and attentive, even when it got really crowded. We made dinner reservations for a Friday at 5:00. Probably hadn't needed.them at that time, but glad we did just in case, as the place was packed! My husband got the speciality spiced ginger pear old fashioned, it was really tasty! I got a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. We ordered the mussels appetizer, absolutely amazing. It comes with bread and this appetizer, could have been one person's dinner. We actually ended up taking home the rest of the sauce because it had so much food stuff left in it!I ordered the Salmon picatta and the hubs ordered shrimp and scallop diablo. Both were excellent. We had the spinach salad and seafood bisque...again, absolutely delicious. For 3 drinks, 1 soda, appetizer, and 2 entrees our total was $120. Pricier for us, but we were celebrating, and what you get for the cost was worth it. We both had to take leftovers home, the portions were nice sized. There was a small sign at the table that mentioned that they would prefer if you kept your dining to 1.5 hours out of consideration. Our server when giving us the bill told us to take our time and did not make us feel rushed. We will be back!

Delicious food & drinks. We enjoyed the Ricotta & honeycomb- it was so pretty & yummy. A vanilla lavender lemonade drink. Prime rib was huge -as was the grouper. All of the staff were lovely. Beautiful views of the lake too?

Lake front views, friendly staff and best food in town. Gotta be good to find a parking spot though.

Great place on lake Como, spectacular views, excellent food, and great service. I had a wonderful server named Pam who more than admirably took care of me, highly recommend coming here for dinner. Bring your special person and have a wonderful time. I did. This place has a lot of gangster lore attached to it. A hangout in the 30s with such notables as John Dillinger, Babyface Nelson, And Bugs Moran to name a few.

We had reservations for dinner tonight. And we got seated at probably the worst, most awkward table. I was so looking forward to a nice dinner. The food was so salty!!!! The seafood bisque and broasted chicken were so salty. My seared tuna was just ok. If you want good ahi tuna, go to Paisanos in Richmond. Tuscan is still probably the best restaurant in Lake Geneva. Definitely not worth the $112 for the two of us! What a disappointment!

This is strictly a breakfast review.Friends brought us to this establishment for a breakfast because it has a beautiful view of Lake Como. Now it is January and the lake was frozen but the restaurant is directly on the lake.Only could imagine being here during the summer with a cocktail in my hand. The breakfast was good and the service was excellent.Ill update my review when we go back for dinner.

The blackened grouper was excellent; but the biggest surprise was the potato pancakes - the best I’ve had in years! More like a smooth flavorful pancake and less like a chunky hash brown patty. The tiny brussel sprouts sautéed with onions and bacon, the seafood bisque (just the right amount of spicy), and house salad were also delicious. My husband had the walleye, which he said was fine (but preferred my grouper.) Prices were similar to other higher end restaurants, but atmosphere leans a little more on the casual side. Our server was very attentive, and we really enjoyed the whole meal!

My son and I ate at the Getaway. We eat there regularly. The waitress took our wine order and my son said I want a pinot noir. There was more than one pinot. She delivered it and later I was charged for the most expensive pinot which was $20 a glass. The restaurant should have a house wine The food was good but it took forever to get the meal, followups and bill. This restaurant has the most turnover of waitresses of any restaurant we go to. We eat out every week. The waitresses are always slow at the end of the meals.

We had our annual Christmas dinner with friends. Unfortunately there were two mistakes made. Something was described on the menu one way and arrived differently. A completely different pasta sauce and sandwich bun. Not a huge deal however not delivered as expected.

We showed up for a baby shower, having called and made reservations for a private party. Hostess said "we don't take reservations in the morning." No help. Once they pushed 3 tables together in the center of the restaurant, it took 25 minutes and a request to even get our drink order taken. An hour and 15 minutes in and no food.

Wonderful location, beautifully decorated building overlooking Lake Como. The staff were kind and friendly. Our meal started with being charged to have bread and oil at the table. That was a surprise for a restaurant who serves Italian food as one of the main options. There was plenty of warm, pre-sliced bread, with a minimal amount of pre-poured oil on a small, square plate with a little mound of grated cheese, mixed with way too much garlic. After one piece of bread, we had to request another plate of pre-made oil and cheese. The large amount of garlic made the dish, not so pleasant. Not a good start to what we had hoped would be a delicious meal. The 2 pasta dishes, rigatoni and chicken marsala, were okay. The rigatoni had a ladle of heavily seasoned red sauce while the marsala had a sparse amount of sauce at the bottom of a large pile of noodles. We finished a small portion of each pasta dish and then made a break for the door to getaway from the heavy smell of garlic. The Getaway was not a good choice for us.

The Getaway has now found its grove. They have gotten over their early fumbles, straightened out supervision and established an excellent service staff, providing consistently good service and excellent food preparations. We were a party of eight last night and our server, Jeanine, hosted us to an excellent dining experience. All our different entrees came out of the kitchen simultaneously and ate as well as they looked...delicious! My wife and I had been to The Getaway just the day before for a private group lunch for over 20 people and we were treated to a similar great service and excellently prepared food. If you haven't tried their breakfast (Thursday thru Sunday) you must, as the menu is extra-ordinary and likely the finest breakfast preparations anywhere in the entire Geneva Lake area. This is not a paid promotion; I am just an old retired food service executive who appreciates it when an operation gets it right. It took them a while, but I can tell you from personal experience, The Getaway is now firing on all cylinders.
