We ordered 3 food items for dine in. Our name was never called so after 30 minutes I asked about our order and it had been sitting out in a to go bag. Once opening the bag not a single one of our orders was correct or appetizing. Was excited to try this place, disappointed

Great tasting coffee and sandwiches! Their wine and liquor selection is quite large. There is a fridge with chilled beer and wine too. My husband, who loves bourbon, is impressed with their selection. They also have coffee presses, and other fun and unique purchases. It can take a long time to receive your order. Also, it is very loud inside, and if you are not standing near the station where drinks are placed, you will not hear your name being called. There is a large room in the back with a very large dry erase board that can be reserved, perfect for meetings.Parking: There is paid parking on Monroe Street and the side streets have free parking.

We stopped in for takeout coffee and hot chocolate drinks. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing. However, we waited over 15 minutes for our drinks. When we received them they were in cups for dining in versus to go. Not a big deal other than they kept taking orders versus finishing orders. I guess it is a good and evil with a product people want and not enough people to provide it. Overall our coffee and hot chocolate drinks were very good.

Quite a variety of food and drinks to choose from! It is also an amazing spot to sit down to do some studying as well.

Good coffee but the employees don’t even make close to a living

Very good Parfait. The cappuccino was nice. Would come back here to study. Also a good takeout option for breakfast.

I used to love this place but it has slid. The self order machine was broken but they didn’t put a sign up so I wasted 5 min trying to use it. I let them know it was broken and apparently they already knew so I suggested they put up a sign. They don’t provide straws (plastic is bad but you can get compostable ones..), they don’t seem to have or don’t use their AC so it’s warm inside. The Brussels sprouts in my Wingra bowl were microwaved within an inch of their lives…watery, squishy, gross.

They must sell a lot of espresso drinks that are full of sugar because if you have a regular cappuccino without sugar or syrup, you'll find that it's quite sour and unappetizing

I enjoy all of the Barriques locations, and have found their prices on wine and alcohol to be reasonable or better than many other nearby stores. (Get the excellent Meomi Pinot Noir here, nowhere else, as it's the best price around.) Service has always been good and the food is very good for a coffee shop. One thing I have to downgrade is air quality. The Middleton location (not this one) has a really bad issue with smoke during lunchtime food rushes. The Monroe Street location (which I am reviewing here), is extremely stuff on a pleasant June afternoon. Is there no a/c? Honestly, it's stifling. Monroe can also be difficult for finding a place to sit, as well. The very large boots are rarely occupied by more than one person. And, as is the American habit, strangers don't share tables. Thus, plenty of seats available, but nowhere to sit, if that makes sense.Location is terrific, across form Trader Joe's, among many unique shops, bars & restaurants, just a few blocks form Camp Randall Stadium and the UW Field House. You're doing well in many areas, but please address the air quality. Thank you.

I had come here years ago and remember it being better, I think, but with repeat trips my memory has been updated: Coffee is burnt, the food is mediocre and the staff give off a superior vibe. The breakfast sandwich has sickly sweet taste to the bun and the egg had that just-microwaved-to-oblivion level of heat to burn your mouth flesh. McDonald's, you may not conjure up the imagery of wine barrels in some French warehouse, but your execution of the breakfast sandwich has these guys beat any jour de semaine. The shop is in a nice spot and has good seating and I'll give it a star for that. I can see how maybe in the past when this seemed like a novel business plan: wine, coffee and food, then it could be interesting to check out, but those days are over. On Monroe St. there are other options for better coffee, Trader Joes sells wine at better price points, and the food at every other establishment on the block is fresh, made on site and delicious. Barriques is stuck in the aughts or something and not in a good way. Go to Bloom or Collectivo even.

okay so here's the thing. i placed an order this morning via doordash and was delivered the wrong order. (honestly, i can't even get mad b/c a) the names were really similar, and b) i ended up liking what i got, so kayla douglas, if you happen to read this, i'm sorry for eating your food). i was originally going to accept the credit doordash was going to give me but i decided i still wanted the latte i originally ordered instead, so i asked for a redelivery. this time, not only did i get the correct order, but i also got the correct order from earlier as well. i opened the bag of goodies and there was a little note written on some receipt paper apologizing for the doordasher and wishing me a good day/weekend inside. it was such a cute lil surprise and i'm probably going to keep it for an indefinite amount of time because i'm a dirty rat and have hoarding tendencies and like little notes. honestly, it's little things like that that really make or break a day so this made my day. TL;DR: to the employees working at the monroe st. location: thank you and i hope y'all have a lovely day/weekend as well!! :)

Barriques on Monroe Street is a cozy cafe, coffee shop, and wine market. Stopped in for a midweek breakfast and was very happy with the food, drinks, and welcoming atmosphere. My husband enjoyed his breakfast sandwich with egg, cheddar, and bacon. We shared a delicious and fresh scone. I also had a hot baked oatmeal. The individual oatmeal was kinda small, yet surprisingly filling. It was not too sweet and satisfying. So happy that they serve delicious brewed decaf coffee! So many coffee shops only offer Americana decaf (yuck). Prices were very reasonable and service was quick and efficient. Will definitely stop in again!

Got the Shorewood Breakfast Bowl and got maybe 3 bites of food cuz my bowl came half empty LMAO. Got the hot apple cider which was pretty good, and that’s honestly the only reason i didn’t give 1 star

Loved going here for lunch when I worked in the area! Great food and great drinks!Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options to choose from, but not many vegan if memory serves.Kid-friendliness: The atmosphere is pretty kid friendly, although a picky eater might not like the menu options.Parking: There is barely storefront parking on a good day. All of the spots are metered, so you tend to be better off parking on a side street without metered parking and walking.Wheelchair accessibility: As far as I remember there was not wheelchair accessible parking and the door(s) do not have a button to open them. They are both push/pull doors and a little heavy/resistant even if standing.
