I almost didn't want to leave a review of Busse's in an effort to keep this place the local gem it is. If cozy dive bar with is your jam, you're going to love this place. The cherry on top is that you can order food from Zippy Lube (one of the best chicken sandwiches and mashed potatoes in Madison) from the bar and they will deliver it to you. If you're not in the mood for chicken, Busse's has great pizzas that they make and freeze themselves. All of this - AND friendly staff. Shout out to Lopez, who has always been happy, friendly, and a fabulous bar tender!

A certain bartender will talk over you as he scolds you because he didn't like where you put your drink and not let you speak when you're trying to play pool. It's something to go to a public place and maybe try to talk to someone, and since there's no one to talk to, say go try to play pool and then to be yelled at by the bartender without a chance to speak like a human. If you want to run me out of town and just go ahead.

Busse's is a total gem with a really fun mash-up of people, including Donna, who could prolly outdrink most. It has this nice laid back vibe, like everyone has the same chill agenda. Cocktails are robusto, and frozen mugs to serve select tap beers? Busse's isn't going to be hosting pool tourneys any time soon - space is tight between the wall and table in one area, but this only adds to the charm of this place. They hosted a cribbage tournament (April maybe?) I regret not participating in, next time. I highly recommend you go to Busse's, love it, but then don't tell anyone else so it doesn't get too crowded. ?

Wednesday night drop in for a bday party. Excellent homemade pizza and bar service.
When you start to lament the disappearance of intimate and comfortable neighborhood taverns...stop cryin and go to Busse's instead.I dont know if it's the building, the bartender Donna or both but this place is imbued with a magic you can only get from years of good vibes.If you're not into the whole mysticism thing, that's cool. I'd recommend Busse's for the Old Fashions alone.
