6 stars if possible. Just a class act. The boys behind the bar take care of you on Sundays.

Happy hour with snacks! This is the best Madison downtown/Capital Square bar.

Wanted to write a good review. This place offers touch tunes but skips any song you choose. Spend $$ and they skip your music. Don’t offer touch tunes if you don’t want people’s music. Place sucks

Extremely friendly and attentive bar staff. Very clean. Great drinks. Not overly crowded or loud but still a very good vibe for a weekend night.

Small and cozy. Service is pretty quick and friendly, but that may be different during busier hours. Beer selection isn't massive, and if you're aiming for a cocktail, come prepared with what you want. They have liquor to make just about anything you can think of, but they don't have a dedicated menu.

So good!

Recommended by staff at a nearby bar (Coopers) for out of town visitors. Great atmosphere (the Packers were playing), awesome local beers at reasonable price. Friendly and generous staff. Would definitely recommend for visitors and locals.

Just a bar, no food. Solid atmosphere, friendly service, and a random and fun clientele.

The short guy at the entrance was going to rip my foreign ID just cause it was not made of plastic. He was also going to scratch away my photo from it by claiming he's never seen an ID like that (of course, cause it was a FOREIGN id, but his ignorance and probably some alcohol wouldn't let him understand the concept). My colleagues were shocked. I'm a 40+ yo guy, I could be his father. Be careful to your employees, if he ripped my ID he would have seriously threatened my return in Europe, which could mean getting sued by both the US government for destroying an official Visa-related ID (with all the occurring costs) and by my State (EU), especially cause my ID is considered my State's property actually. How do I know these things? You don't wanna know. After I showed him my passport he was fine with it (ofc my passport, like any other passport, was made of paper as well, but that seemed fine to him, lol?). Just to let you know, bouncers should CHECK IDs, not manipulate and alterate them, that's a federal crime. Use your eyes, get off your hands from federal IDs.I use to come here frequently with my group, never seen anything like that. We were all speechless.

Being relatively close to the University and the Capitol building most bars in this part of town are either filled with college kids or lobbyist/professional types. However, Genna's is your working class dive bar oasis from that. Hang out and watch some football (sadly the Packers lost the day we were there) and have a could of brews. This is a dog friendly bar so heads up on that. Bartender is excellent.
