My daughter visited the ER and the nursing staff was less than helpful. Maybe because she is a young adult, they felt they didn’t need to explain anything to her like they might to an older person?Even though she gave consent to share medical updates, we were told by the ER that no patient existed with her name when we called for an update. She was not allowed a support person due to hospital policy, so I asked where I could wait since I drove from Milwaukee and have no place to go in Madison.I was told that because the cafeteria was closing, there was no place in the hospital for me to wait. The ER nurse told me to wait in my car. Seriously disappointed the hospital doesn’t allow a family member to wait in the ER waiting room. Both of our experiences felt like the bedside manner was lacking and downplayed my daughter’s health concerns, which is especially scary for the patient when there is no support person. I understand the policy, but it would be nice if the staff could take that into consideration and have a bit of compassion.

I tend to hate hospitals because I'm rarely in them for a good reason. Still, we were here recently (for a terrible reason) and every single soul was amazingly kind. Wonderful staff across the board.

Everyone was very hospitable and wonderful. The cafeteria has some great food and they were nice enough to validate our parking for the week.
